I just bought 30 on Ebay, I'll plant them with the neck peeking out and see what happens. I love their fragrance.

I live in West Virginia and the winter here is cold, should I leave the neck of the bulb out of the ground?

Thanks for the video. I’m in southern Spain having planted 50 Belladonna bulbs into the garden in October 2022. To date, I had just one plant flower. The current state (Feb 24) is that they all have glossy green leaves. Can you please advise when to expect the flowers and recommend when to fertilize? Our summers are hot and dry from June through August. Thanks in advance.

How exciting! It sounds like your season lines up about like ours, we are on the Central Coast of California. My Belladonna bulbs are all up right now with plentiful shiny long green leaves. Those will die down over the next few months, to nothing but withered brown debris. Then, around August to September, the deep maroon stalk will start to shoot up. If you've got leaves, you should get flowers. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Oh, and no need to fertilize that I know of. We are in horrible clay soil, and somehow they don't rot and keep on blooming and needing dividing.

I planted several in 2 huge pots with drainage at the same time, the same soul. One is in a sunnier location is the only difference. I am surprised that the leaves in the sunnier spot are yellowing, while the leaves in the slightly shade area are a better dark green. Why is that ?

You don’t say where you live. But the leaves naturally yellow and die back in the spring. That may be what you’re seeing.

@ucmastergardenersofsanluis8276 I see, I suppose that sunnier spot will die back and flower first. Do I always have to spilt up the bulbs and repot? Or just cut back the leaves? What do you use as ground cover? It is sort of a mess when the leaves die back. How to make garden area look alive when this is occuring? I read that they flower in August, is that about right?
