How to remove mirror--- • 2012 2013 2014 2015 HO...
You’re very descriptive I like it, even the little things that most mechanically challenged people would struggle with you take time to explain and make it more understandable. Example, showing the clips after removing the mirror, other channels would’ve chucked it and been like “ok on to the next part!” As a mechanic myself I know these little things are easily overlooked but can make or break an install
Thanks! You saved me 150 bucks.
Thank you! I fixed my loose mirror after watching this!!!
Great video! btw, I removed both caps but when I was trying to remove the right cap I took out the white plastic to have better access to remove the cap at the top, now I am having problem with the mirror positioning control each time I adjust the mirror left and right, it sounds like the base (white plastic) is hooked to something. its rare because when i adjust the mirror to the top or bottom works. Any idea how to fix it?
Mines is lose on my civic should have nyp about fixing it the same way you did yours ?
Quick Question, How do you remove just the mirror housing? My driver's side mirror was hit by a drunk driver while parked on a street. The mirror itself is fine, the only damage is to the edge of the mirror housing and the painted cap.
did you ever find an answer to this?
I think there’s a whole assembly for the holder and the skull cap’s separate. I just bought one for my ‘14 si cuz I’m in the same scenario except the whole mount is loose/cracked. You might be able to buy individual pieces from a Honda dealer if you know the part number otherwise you’ll have to buy the whole mirror as a kit
Great video. Have you replaced the mirror portion with the HEATED MIRROR version? I know there is wiring which would have to be ran, and if so, where would it go?
Even the non-heated version of Honda external "wing" mirrors use wiring for the electric adjustment motor/component, which runs beneath the internal door trim panel, which is simply attached to the door with clips all of the way around the sides & bottom (just place your fingers beneath the bottom of the trim & firmly pull it away from the door shell, beginning at the bottom corners...however, depending upon the model of Honda you own, any interior door handle trims & pockets will be attached to the door shell (& thus restricting the removal of the door trim until they're removed) with screws, which often have small plastic clips that obscure the screws, for aesthetic purposes & these little clips are usually best removed with a very fine blade screwdriver. Once the door trim has been removed, you simply remove as little of the plastic dust cover beneath the door trim (attached to the inner door shell with black caulking compound) as is necessary in order to gain access to the connecting clip for the mirror motor wire & simply press in the "lever" (for want of a better word) upon that connecting clip to separate them. And finally, you need to remove the 3 nuts (used to be 8mm but more commonly 10mm nuts nowadays) that hold the "wing" mirror body/assembly to the car, via openings in the inner door shell that allow you to gain direct access to these nuts.
NOTE: Before you loosen these 3 nuts, it's best to ensure that either you (with your spare hand, if you're relatively ambidextrous) or someone else is holding the mirror assembly, as it will simply fall upon the ground if you don't, often hitting the side of your door & denting that on its way down!! Also, when you replace the power mirror wiring, be sure not to run it upon the inside of the window channels, although it's more difficult to do so incorrectly than to do it correctly, as Hondas are generally so well designed & simple to work upon.
A 4-year apprenticeship at a Honda dealership has left me nearly carrying out menial attacks like this in my sleep, although I completed this apprenticeship in 1997!! But my many friends with later model Hondas have kept me in the proverbial "loop" re: later model Hondas & little has changed upon them in that time. Hope this can help someone, some day...?!
What's the cover of this vehicle? It looks like Urban Titanium Metallic. I'm confirming because that's the same color as mine
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This video helped me so much.
Glad it helped. :)
Nice video. Where can I get a painted cap for Honda pilot 2012?
Will this work on a 2019 Honda Civic Touring?
Contrary to the video, there are in fact 6 clips holding the cover in, not 4. In addition to the 4 pointed out, there is one at the bottom inside corner and one in the bottom middle. These should be loosened as well prior to removal. I didn’t realize this and cracked one of them off during removal.
Do things we can change without open from door ?
Can this be done without taking the entire mirror assembly off the vehicle? I just need to replace the top part of the cap.
Yes, you can leave it on the vehicle to do that.
Do the caps for the 2012 and 2013 hybrid fit on 2014-2015 mirrors?
Thanks got it done I was like yeah t won’t snap in. I refuse to pay a man for something I can figure out
Well you figured it out by watching a man explain it to you and show you how.
@@gregkeller80 and did I pay no amount thankful yes 👀👏
Would you have paid a woman?
@@hanzohasashi1116 I’m not paying for anything I don’t have to -ever
Can this be performed on the car? My mirror and cap is broken only. Thanks
Great video, extremely helpful 👍
Thank you! Gonna paint my 2018 accord mirror caps 👍🏻🤙🏼
Do you have to have these caps painted to colour match?
I just want to know how to get at the led turn signals in these mirrors as they dont seem very bright and i want to put some sequential lights in them
How about for a 2017 civic heated and powered mirror? Would it be much different?
thanks for all your help!
Would this work for a 2010 accord?
Fantastic video
Can you do a video on how to remove the cap on a 2017 civic?
he has a playlist on his profile
How about for a 2016-2018 civic?
Nice one thanks, this help me so much.
Anyone know how I might be able to tighten up the mirror a little bit? It's loose at the base where it swivels, not the 3 bolts that hold it to the car body. I see there is like some kind of metal hinge that allows the mirror to fold and snap in and out, but how do you tighten it? Thanks anyone
if the car is. missing and the whole thing is on the car. can I just clip it on
One side view mirror defroster on my 2014 CRV is not working. Do you know how to deal with it? Thnx!
Look behind the glass mirror and make sure both wires are plugged in. If they are, you may need to replace the glass portion of the mirror.
Thank you!
Can you do 16 civic grille removal
How does that shit not break with all that tender loving care?? I'm doing a HRV skull cap right now. There is 2 of the tabs in the bottom that completely hidden. No access for flat head.
Lmao tender loving care. Smacking it like hes playing whack a mole lol
You think this is the same for 2016 ilx
Can I have the black one if you do not need it ? :D
Why would you wont to go to the trouble of removing the mirror plate when all you have to do is get two small plat headed screwdrivers under the mirror cap groove on the outside of the mirror near the indicator & gently prise it off.
Prying anything on the outside where the paint is runs the risk of damaging the cap. Going from the inside most likely reduces that risk but obviously now there’s more shit in your way
Guess I’m the only one who shattered my mirror. Lol
I was worried glass would break if you smack it
You broke the tab of the mirror. Is that normal?😄
I thought I was the only one who ended up breaking it 😂
@@johancycollado1563 i guess that’s normal, he broke it too, after you replace what’s wrong i think you have to buy the whole part.
