  • For those of you who may see this and not know the back story, Nora was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Trisomy 13. Obstacles Nora has faced and continue to face include:
a large hole in her heart (with a successful open heart surgery that has been revised).
micropthalmia (small eyes) which makes it difficult for her to open her eyes completely and only can see light in her right eye
a bilateral cleft lip (has been revised) and cleft palate
G-tube fed due to swallowing difficulties
incoordination of muscles that affect her ability to sit and walk
The prognosis of Trisomy 13 is poor, with only 10% of children who live past child birth make it to their first birthday. Most physicians say these children are “incompatible with life” and encourage abortion. But, with the grace from our Heavenly Father and help from doctors, nurses, and therapists, Nora had her 3rd birthday this year and is thriving! Hopefully Nora’s story will encourage parents to give their child with Trisomy 13 a chance at life, and to find hope in Jesus Christ when the road gets rocky.
