Two of the animals that frequently dine on my back porch happened to show up at the same time one night. The opossum was lucky he didn't get sprayed. There's no sound with this video.
I feed possums and skunks in my shed. One possum bit the skunk on the hip and I thought oh no, it's on! The skunk jumped a little and kept right on eating!
Yes, the skunk seems to be rather aggressive toward the possum in these types of encounters, but the possum seems to stand up for itself at some point and sometimes fight back. And, END the fight LOL
Just a note of caution about leaving food and water outdoors, it can spread distemper. We've had a distemper problem in our county for a while, and I've seen a couple of raccoons die from it and it's a horrific way to go, they really suffer. Cats can get it from infected wildlife so make sure your cats are vaccinated. I'll admit sometimes I'll leave out some horse feed to help out the skunk possum and racoon in our barn so they don't have to forage as much as we are having a coyote overpopulation problem (the eastern coyote is not a native species btw, look it up) but I always wash off the pans. I probably shouldn't, but sometimes I do anyway.
Skunks really don't have good eyesight at all. It was still sniffing about, and didn't seem to notice the opossum right in front of it for a few seconds. I noticed this years ago when one sauntered right up close to me, and only seemed to notice me when it was like 3 yards away or less.
Yes, it's an auto feeder. I put it out there for the local stray cat while we were on vacation. The opossum and the skunk like to take advantage of the free cat food as well. The feeder is set to dispense 3 times a day.

I guess Possums don’t get bothered by skunk scent. Maybe it’s like Possum cologne.

Skunk will take on the opossum but most house cats will ignore the opossum while it eats the cats food.
