I love Jimmy Bruno!! Incredible player, with great taste!!
Best I’ve heard any guitarist play over Giant Steps! Amazing playing🎸
I bought Jimmy's DVD No Nonsense Jazz Guitar and I can honestly say that in my 45 years of studying jazz guitar, taking lessons, buying books, traveling the world, gigs etc - anything I could do to get better - that the $40 or so dollars spent on this DVD was the best investment I have made in my musical journey.
Every time I listen to Mr. Bruno he astounds me with his talent. Amazing.
Oh snap, it´s remains me when I heard Steve Masakowski the first time
Bruno has yet to be glorified with the best interpretation of all the things you are. It's the best theme I ever heard considering jazz standards. It's absolutely a master piece of jazz guitar.
Jimmy's got thee velocity ability and balance over everyone !! I don't think Pat Martino could do this !!! And yet Bruno doesn't seem to get the notoriety he deserves...To play GS at this tempo without a glitch is near superhuman !!! If you can do THIS you can do anything !! And he DOES !!!
the solo guitar intro is just fucking awesome.. 3 seconds in you can tell its JBs sound. absolutely brilliant..
This is jazz shred...at its finest!
holy crap ! a true guitar man, he plays this tune inside out then outside in !
I thought I knew this or that about J.Bruno and his music. I saw this one for the first time. The guy is a giant monster or monster giant. I know what I say. Full respect for master!
I’m ordering “Nonsense Jazz Guitar” as soon as this tune is over. OMG what an incredible talent.
Phenomenal player & a beautiful cat.
Simply the best, phrasing, speed, taste, technique
I got it admit, I see alot of these guitar videos with guitarists playing giant steps and none seem to move me nearly as much as much as this one!
This dude walks the walk, and when he talks it's a no BS tone much like he plays.. No doubt Jimmy is one of God's great gifts to us in terms of a virtuoso guitarist 👍
This the most musical version that I have ever heard! Fantastic!
I bought this material on tape a lot of years ago. I remember how many times I played that tape once and once again... I was obssesed with Jim Bruno and Philip Catherine...
Jimmy OWNS❤

as I listen to JB play , Its like being on a roller coaster with your eyes shut . you are being twisted , turned and tossed loving every minute of it and when its over I took a deep breath Thanks JB , I need a Cigar now . : )
A "Great Artist", like "Jimmy Bruno", you immediately recognize him.
Just a few notes are enough to identify it with reasonable certainty: from the style, from the performance and interpretation of each proposed piece, from the notes, from the arrangement, from the creativity, the rhythmic virtuosity and all the other elements that characterize it as a whole.
Ultimately, alone, it is a freewheeling orchestra, which knows no boundaries or embankments.
It is a "river in flood" that overwhelms everything and everyone, in a rhythmic tide of musical notes that arouse, in the listener, that natural and universal feeling of the soul called "emotion".
But what a good !!
It is a Grande, a milestone to be sculpted in the Firmament of the Great Artists of Jazz.
My congratulations, with ten and praise.

I never heard this played on the guitar before. Wow, very nice!
That part from 2:33 is one of the most transcendentally virtuosic passages of jazz guitar-at least.
Holy $#!7 this guy is unbelievable!!
This is amazing! It's one thing to simply play through the changes (i.e. hold on for dear life, which is what most players do), but to be so on top of the tune that you can truly express yourself and the beauty of the music (and make it your own in the process) is beyond the beyond. Thank you Mr Bruno! I find this both infinitely inspiring and daunting --- like, maybe I should stick to the electric cheese-grater. Oy! ... Well, maybe I'll just head over to the woodshed. ;-)
your spot on there...I don't know how he does it....I can do it at a very slow tempo and that is a struggle to just get by...but at this tempo? it really is beyond the beyond as you say....and to practice tens of thousands of hours in itself boggles the mind
thormusique yggbj
thormusique it’s all language, ya know it eventually catches up

If you are a true master you will listen to me an see where you were years ago. I wanted to do what you did with this song many moons ago. Thank you for doing what I never could. That was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need to hear the rock guys, VAN HALEN, VAI, etc.. play this. Incredible, JIMMY BRUNO...
@8un3zz the same can - and has - been said about van halen and vai
Not a sleight, but I seriously doubt you’d hear hear those guys playing this. Jazz is a very different idiom, with different sensibilities. Further, the harmonic language is far more complex than even most progressive rock. Van Halen and Vai are, (were in VH’s case) huge fans of the late Allan Holdsworth, who has a version of Giant Steps. Holdsworth plays with a rock guitar tone, but jazz sensibilities, and there were few who could keep up with him. I think you’d be amazed by Holdsworth’s version, if not challenged.
Mr. Bruno plays this very much in a legit, jazz guitar style, and does so extremely well. Jimmy Bruno is a VERY gifted guitarist, and enjoyably, a great guy. Another guitar player very worthy of mention here is the late Joe Diorio. He was a huge admirer of John Coltrane who wrote Giant Steps. Joe spent a lifetime decoding Coltrane’s playing. Additionally, Holdsworth was an enormous Coltrane admirer also. Enjoy🎉
Somethin’ bout a gueetar burnin on Giant Steps.. it seems to be such a radical feat!! Someone might say, well a piano or keyboard could solo single note, or chord solos too.. But the rhythmic pulse Jimmy adds as he just cooks thru it, ya hear a tad of W. Montgomery, but no not really.. That’s Jimmy Bruno cuttin a new path, w/ some courageous new unleashed sound in regards to Coltrane!!
sweet !!!
Holy sh*t this guy is a genius
great!!!
Damn.. He makes the rest of the world feel inferior...
Thanks!
Jimmy Bruno?
Vedremo!

"Jimmy Bruno"?
It's a great artist, a river in flood, it's a "tzunami", an avalanche which involves everything and everybody without limits and banks.
A tempest of notes and emotions which leave you amazed and open mouthed, enchanted from such fantasy and such musical creativity and inspiration.
Besides I'd like to listen to you in a new Jazz Standard or Latin Jazz cd, in a sixtet so composed : Piano, Double Bass, Drums, Trumpet, tenor Sax,guitar
It's possible?

OH MY GOD!!!!
I met Jimmy out here in norther California back in the late 90s. He'd come out to conduct a clinic in Redwood City at Gelb Music and do a show later at a restaurant downtown. He said it was really hard to justify the trip on a financial level. Playing clubs here and there still will not pay a great artist a fair living for the art they create unless they've broken through some level of popularity that usually renders them uninteresting. At least that's the case in America. Sigh. Bu the show he played was fantastic, of course.
Nice
impressive improvisation
Master
Damn he makes ill lines through those minor thirds 4:40 ! WHAT THE FUCK
Major Thirds, Basically it's 2/5/1s in B, Eb and G, A Major Third apart.
Easier understood than played over, like Jimmy does here, at tempo.
Sure! Thanks for visiting my channel.

Great tune. But Jimmy now plays the Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno model, Sadowsky strings, and I think he's playing henriksen or a clarus amp.

Zach I heard it twice.
