    I have a couple of these LKs (and have no intention of selling). I found a Camp Trails external backpack and ditched the pack and modified the frame by cutting it and used it with the LK35 bag I have made of nylon (1988). It is lighter and more suitable for a hip belt. I was able to stretch one of each of the loops frome each side around the frame but not both. They are worn on the nylon bag, so I may reinfoce/cut them and make them slightly larger. I also removed the name tags and like the look much better. I would like to replace the hip belt and shoulder straps on the Camp Trails as the padding is compressed and find a different Camp Trails in better shape... Or perhaps something like a Kelty Trekker (haven't found one to try). I still have and can revert back to the LK frame; the LK frame is bombproof, though, but perhaps a tad too short. I will continue to get suitable aftermarket frames when available. The older Canvas LK35 I have is in "like new" condition and I haven't modified it (1981). The frame has holes from where the Camp Trails bag was lashed on with Clevis pins and I may figure out a way to use them to lash things to the side of the frame being used with the LK35.
    These aftermarket frames found at thrift shops/flea markets, etc. are a bargain and can add a lot of versatility. Another pack to get and use with a modified frame is one of the "Austrian" A.L.I.C.E. packs. There is a video by Mark Young which shows how easily it can be attached. Those largish packs that are bigger than an American one can be found at good prices, now. Snap one up!
    As a personal preference, I like the darker color of the Nylon LK bag.

      Nice! I sold all of mine. I have a lot of packs and as much as I like the LK35, it is redundant since I have at least 5 the same size and I have a LK70.
      It is somewhat easy to find pin shoulder straps. I have quite a few rucksack videos out.
      Thanks for your comments and watching even if I am boring.

    hellooo eskimooo, would the black nylon one be for sale by chance? thanks

      If I do find anymore of them, i would put them on ebay for about $120+ because they take about 15% fees and then you would have to pay shipping $10-70 depending on where you live. See if rodastjarnan.com will sell to you, it would most likely be cheaper.

      I don't right now, maybe later, but ther isn't a much margin. Look at rodastjarnan dot com would be the cheapest way.

      I bought the synthetic one from military mart in the U.K. and I got the canvas one from flobyoverskottslager in Sweden. Both are used, but in very good condition and each cost about $50 after shipping.
      I have bought heavily used ones for around $20-30 dollars after shipping from places in the U.S. after searching under "Swedish Rucksack". The frames were worn/chipped, but very usable and the bags had numerous sewn repairs (still very usable, with a lot of "character") but again very usable. These ones were all the canvas ones.
      I am assuming that the canvas ones had so many tears for two main reasons: One - most made in 1979, so used more (vs. the synthetic made in the '80's - '90's); Two - the synthetic is thicker and looks more durable than the synthetic ones. I sold those on online auction.
      I had read that there still might be lots of both available for surplus bulk buys, but I haven't looked around for about 6 months or more, so you might find them popping up in other suppliers. I decided that I wanted very good or better condition. I hope that answered your question!

    • @eskimomarine2252
      @eskimomarine2252  5 лет назад

      @@herduardo sometimes. When I have too many things that are redundant, I sell. It depends on how much my wife notices. I also pick up extra things to support my habit of collecting, which I sell to get more money to buy other things. I usually sell on the largest online auction site in the U.S., starts with an "e". Currently, I have one of the packs listed.

    How tall are you? I heard that the frame might be uncomfortable for taller people (i'm 6 foot)

    • @eskimomarine2252
      @eskimomarine2252  4 года назад

      I am 6 feet tall. There is some flexibility for mounting the shoulder pads. I haven't had any problems, but I also haven't carried more than about 35 pounds in it.
