There's something called Account Dump,and it's basically a big text file with unlocked accounts,It usually can be done manually by performing a man in the middle attack,or hack the IP address,take the email and put the credentials

How to make two step verification more safe?
Number 1 you can verify it is you by using your face (this cannot be done by using a photo)
Number 2 make the expired 6 digits code more shorts like 50 to 20 second
And finally number 3 make it impossible to deactivate 2 step verification by contacting support (company will no longer be able to deactivate 2 step verification even if he/she has the password)
This is why you should have a burner phone like a prepaid that doesn’t require Personal ID for setup. Hackers can’t remote access the phone and can’t call customer service and fake your ID to have the sims changed.

2fa can be hacked, yes, but proton mail is the email that's very secure , when it comes to e-mail messages.
What about apps like Google Authenticator
It's a mess if you lost your phone and if you need to transfer the codes to a new phone. You can't unless you have auth keys for each login!

So my friend got her Facebook hacked, she didn't give anyone a password or anything but it still happened. The more she tried to get her account back, the smarter the hacker became.
She first sent her ID and get a new email address on the fb account. But the address was wrong so she had to make that address and wait 2 days for it to be active. By this time, the hacker had changed her name and profile picture so the ID option won't work. She then finally got into her email and renewed her pw but upon realization, the hacker turned on the 2 step verification process. What can she do to retrieve her account when fbs customer service sucks?

I don't know maybe you didn't enable it in settings. Because if you enable it, you can't log in if you don't have the code

In this case, you’ll have to contact Instagram directly as they would be the only ones who could directly lift the 2FA from the account. Alternatively, if you have the phone backed up to the cloud, you can easily restore it and regain access to your Authenticator. Depending on which app you’ve used, many like Authy or LastPass offer backups of your 2FA accounts if you have an account with them.
Your sister should have taken note of her 2fa recovery key.

Believe me, I truly hate to say it that this one eventually had me convinced about effectively the most annoying training that I am forced to spend at least one valuable hour on, maybe twice a year, proudly sold by KnowBe4 to my company. Well, as much as I hate to say it, I suppose, it is needed. But maybe not as a subscription, because, you know, people do learn, eventually. Or do they? Urgh.
(How was I convinced? I tried to understand how confirmation token phishing would practically work. And, I'm afraid to say, it sure does, within the right opportunistic window / time frame.)
my facebook account recently got hacked, and when they got into that, they were able to get into everything else associated with that email, becuase i had everything linked together. i was lucky i got the email notification at all, becuase it came from google's security, not facebooks, i didnt get the email about the facebook issue until a week and a half after this hacker got into my account. idk what the hell facebook is doing with their money, but its not being used to protect their users safety at all.
