    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Emma,
      Since different pack manufacturers have different sizing standards, its usually best to use your torso length, rather than your height, to determine the best pack size. Here's how you measure: www.backcountryedge.com/videos/how-to-measure-your-torso-for-backpack-fitting
      Once you have that info, most pack models have a size chart that shows what range of torso length will best fit each size pack. Happy Trails!

  • @mokujin29

    Why do they call it the anti gravity system ? It is just super dense mesh is it not ?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад +1

      Osprey describes it as a "continuous backpanel of lightweight mesh extending from the top of the backpanel to the hipbelt to provide unmatched comfort and ventilation. The seamless structure automatically contours to the body, providing outstanding fit and unrestricted movement." Many packs have mesh as part of their backpanel, the 3 dimensional seamless design is what makes Osprey's unique.

    I want to buy this one but I can't decide if I should buy the 50 or 65 L. I want to use it to backpack through Italy and South-East Asia for one month a time. Any tips how to decide which one to buy? Say, if I buy the 65 L, can I compress it if it's not fully loaded? I am 1.60 and thought of buying the small size.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад

      Both the 50 and 65 L models are compressible if you don't have them fully loaded and both make great travel packs. Remember, your knees and back will thank you if you pack light. Sometimes carrying a smaller pack forces you to bring only what's absolutely necessary. A good trick is to find a cardboard box, measure its dimensions (LxWxH), and put your stuff inside. If you multiply those numbers together you'll get the volume in cubic inches (or cm), which you can use to estimate how much capacity you will need for your gear. Happy Trails!

  • @fantaseas_7304
    @fantaseas_7304 8 лет назад +2

    I can't choose between the 50l version and the 65l version. Can you compress the 65l backpack enough even if you have a smaller load? I will be going to festivals for like 5 days with this pack

    • @AcrylicGoblin
      @AcrylicGoblin Год назад

      I'm a 5'9" 175# male who has the 50L version. I can pack so much stuff in there that it's too heavy to carry into the mountains. I have plenty of room in there for everything I need for a week long trip. I'm going to be using it on a thru hike this year and am not concerned about this being too small.
      I'd say if you can't fit it all in the 50, you are probably bringing too much stuff.

    Thanks for the review! How does the pack's material (for the entire body) deal with rain? Does light rain trickle off? At what point should one use a separate rain cover? Thanks!

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 лет назад +1

      ***** The materials are highly water resistant but by no means waterproof. If there's a light misty rain coming down, you'll be okay without a rain cover. But if that light misty rain is coming down over a whole day, we'd highly recommend covering the pack. Your best bet is to always cover the pack in the event of a storm because you never know how long the storm will last. The water resistance is good for warding off that initial rain before you get the cover on.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад

      Both packs have a tensioned mesh backpanel and similar capacity, so it could be a tough choice. Each pack will work well for what you described, so it's likely a matter of which one feels better and what features you prefer. Hi I loved this video, my main concern is that it only has top access to the main compartment. Which other backpack would you recommend that are comfortable and has top and front/side access to the main compartment? I have been comparting the Osprey Ariel and Gregory Deva. I think that different access to the main compartment is important for long trips, and that is the one feature I would like to find on the Aura backpack

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  8 лет назад +2

      Both the Deva and Ariel are excellent, fully featured packs. They'll provide much more load stability under a heavier pack load than the Aura. If you're looking to go much lighter weight, you could also check out the Jade series from Gregory. They're very lightweight and have a variety of different access options.

    how to wash the bag? should i go to the laundry to clean up the bag?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад +1

      Definitely, don't put it in a washing machine. Osprey recommends
      the following:
      WASHING YOUR PACK
      1. If your pack has a removable harness
      and hipbelt remove them from the pack body.
      2 .Brush out and remove gear, food, dirt or spilled items.
      3. Don’t wash in washing machine. Clean your pack and components
      in a bathtub or large sink using a mild soap and warm water. Osprey
      recommends nikwax tech wash.
      4. Agitate the pack gently and scrub inside and out all
      compartment and pockets with a soft brush.
      5. Brush clean all zippers and flush clean the buckles.
      6. Drain the soapy and dirty water from the bathtub or sink and
      refill with cool clean water. Rinse the pack thoroughly.
      7. Hang dry outdoors or in a well-ventilated area out of direct
      sunlight.
      You can find Nikwax Tech Wash here: www.backcountryedge.com/nikwax-tech-wash.html?.com&H8uCNr09ww

If you have never measured your torso before, here’s a video demonstration: trailsense.enwild.com/how-to-measure-your-torso-for-backpack-fitting/. Once you know your torso measurement, a XSmall fits torsos 14"-17", Small: 16"-19", and Medium: 18"-21".

    hye becky! rily like ur review about this pack. just wanted to ask ur opinion between osprey aura and osprey xena. they looked rily similar. i believe the suspension system is different. Hope u dont mind sharing ur opinion about these two packs.especially their suspension system review. Looking forward to hearing from you. thanks in advance 😊

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 лет назад +3

      +totok3126 The Osprey Aura AG and the Xena packs are very different. The Aura is designed as a much lighter weight pack and isn't intended to carry heavier loads. It has a max capacity of 65 Liters. The Anti-Gravity suspension system is very lightweight, flexible and breathable and hugs the body very nicely. The Xena pack is designed to be much more of a load hauler. It can hold more weight, has larger capacity options and heavier duty materials. Also, the BioForm CM suspension system has customization options so you can get a great fit no matter your size. The way the foam is constructed, these packs custom mold to your body to provide an excellent fit and transfer the load very effectively. The Xena also offers multiple access points and the hood detaches to become its own small day pack. So, if you need a lightweight pack for weekend adventures or longer ultralight adventures, the Aura AG is a great option. If you're looking for a load hauling pack for extended trips or heavy duty adventures, the Xena is the ticket. Thanks for watching!

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  7 лет назад +2

      The Antigravity system can be adjusted using two clamps that are located behind the shoulder straps. You'll see two arrows on the outside of the shoulder strap with a hexagon shape in between them. Just next to that, behind the mesh back panel, will be the clamp. It needs to be pinched open. Once opened, you can slide the whole harness up or down depending on your needs. You have to continue holding the clamp open as you adjust the harness. Becky details this at 3:35 in the video.

      Hi Kate! Thank you for your comment. It sounds like you need some advise from a Gear Specialist. Fitting a backpack is a bit of trial and error until you can dial in the best fit. If you've had surgery and are concerned about causing injury, we'd first advise you to contact your doctor! The hipbelt fins are connected by Velcro. To adjust them, you break the Velcro and adjust the fins in or out. They adjust about 4 inches on either side. We'd suggest that you contact a Gear Specialist for more comprehensive fit advise. email: gearspecialist@backcountryedge.com or call us at 1-800-617-0643. M-f 9:00AM-5:30PM ET.
