Yes, the plastic surface is perfect with a nice gloss. I was doing this in the 1960's, the car bodies are much better now.

I actually bought this same exact rc but it came with a BRZ body. I wanted to build the BMW but I never got around to it. Could you tell me how long it took and all the tools you needed? It would help a lot.

It takes me around 1.5 days to build a new body shell. You’ll need some lexan scissors, a craft knife, some sand paper, masking tape, spray paint(I use Tamiya) then any stickers and accessories you want to add.
