- NOTE: that the trial version, which you can play up to 10 hours with EA Plus, was used for this video on all versions. I’m unaware if and what the differences might be in versions with the normal release
- All three consoles looked somewhat washed out compared to PC. The defaults are used but could potentially improve looks by adjusting gamma to your likings
- PS5 seem to render just a touch lower than Series X. Series S and Series X were however showing drops. Not mayor but definitely noticeable at times during game play.
- Loading times were all pretty comparable.
- Compared to PC there are many differences, including missing shadows, lower resolution reflections and so on.
- PC version is running at a native 4K resolution with the Ultra preset. The game is pretty demanding with a 55% cpu utility (0-140%) and a 70-80% GPU utilisation with v-sync (60Hz)
- This is probably the highest energy consumption of Series S we’ve seen so far.

Did it seem like the framerate drops on Series consoles were synced with the appearance of larger 'toon effects? I can't tell inside the cropped window.
There is one drop that I believe is linked to that but others are not. Also it was noticeable during gameplay, I experience small hiccups (same for Series X).
PS5 wasn’t free of it btw but definitely more noticeable on Series X|S.

Not sure on checker boarding because the times I’ve seen that there is e.g. a “bite” taken out of the border I’m counting, didn’t see those myself. Upscaling on the other hand certainly possible , but edges at highest count did look clean. I’m always trying to improve on these topics so if DF or VG covers them I always revisit and try to extrapolate the results. Thanks for the support and take care.
Turns out that after so many changes after my last video on cables/monitor sequence (I added additional 4x2 HDMI matrix) RGB was defaulted to Standard on Series X|S and PS5 Deep Color was set to automatic. The correct settings should be PC RGB on Series X|S and Full on PS5.
This is why NFS looks so washed out on consoles. Hadn’t touched these settings in over a year so never crossed my mind. Looks normal and colorful on all 3 consoles after changing it. Appreciate the comments which mentioned RGB and helped prevent the next video to have the same issue. Sorry guys for the confusion. Take care.

@@bigcut695 Laptop integrated gpus are weak. Even 3050 TI desktop is not good , not even matching 2070. I baught Asus Rog strix 3060 Ti gaming oc and it is as good as 2080 ti minus 5 fps in games 1440 p on ultra. Gaming laptopa are overpriced

For Criterions first game on next gen, I must say they have done a good job here. You can tell the engine is largely still last gen, but at least their ability to provide smooth performance and great graphics to this degree is something console users have been wishing for a while. I really hope that by their next game, they will have adressed stuff like pop-in which can just ruin a racing game. There's really no need for pop-in to exist on these consoles.
Yeah that is a major turn off on this game. I prefer to drive only at night as it is far less noticeable and just looks so much better. HDR on series X is astounding on this title and so are the planar reflections that really could give Ray tracing a run for it's money.
The HDR is trash mate, a channel called gaming tech breaks down how broken it is on console.
This is a flop as far as next gen goes, we finally have 4k graphics at 60+ fps on consoles and what do we get? A half-assed game on a last-gen engine and characters that look like cartoons, its a complete disappointment. We are so beyond games like this, its embarrassing that this game came out this year but looks like it was released 5 years ago.

IN MY OPINION the graphics look so great the gameplay as i waited for nfs classic (even if drift is a lil bit missing) but the game still so fun to play

It's funny how you've made the consoles one to appear worse than they actually are. Weird how you've got a white filter going over the image of the consoles, yet if you see other comparisons they look nothing like this.

I’m surprised how well these consoles keep up with a beast PC like this. From what I can tell the game is pretty well optimised for all systems which is always great but the difference between the series s and PC you wouldn’t ever guess the price difference in my opinion, great job from Xbox and the optimisation of this game
I'm primarily a PC gamer and usually prefer the much sharper, more detailed textures on the PC versions of games, but more and more recently I've been feeling that the PC is getting a bit too sharp. There seems to have been a bit of an obsession with how sharp and detailed they can get things to look, but it's gone a bit too far for my liking. The slightly softer visuals of the consoles here helps to sell that cinematic look a bit more. Especially distant objects, they shouldn't look that sharp, they aren't irl, the further away something gets, the less detailed and more blurry it gets, or maybe that's just my old shitty eyesight.

Hmmm practically locked 60fps across the board, XSX rendering higher resolution due to the extra gpu power and impressive XSS performance... The washed out looks like a bad black level compensation to me, they will probably fix it with a patch later, a bad HDR implementation can also be the problem here.

Have you by any chance set the rgb range to full on the ps5/xbsx/xbss? It's probably set to limited hence the washed out look.

On Series X, HDR looks amazing on my LG E9 I dont understand the "washed out colors"? I think this is the first wide color gamut NFS since its a new feature on Frostbite.
LG E9 has obviously amazing contrast and color reproduction. These recordings are SDR. Did try on my TV and even though I don’t have OLED (I have a Samsung Frame 2021 75”) with HDR it is a big difference.
It's washed out on PS5 , many have already said so. Hopefully they will fix it with a patch as no reason for it even as an XBox user that should be the same on both consoles.
i think i'm a genius...I think I found a good solution.Well at least for Playstation.... Settings/Screen/Video/RGB range, Either full or limited then in the accessibility under color correction you will then find the setting Color filter Activate then select a color filter in our case Green red... maximum intensity... and on the controller it is already clear that the gray disappears... and HDR must be on...
The quality of this game is still in last gen territory, these consoles are capable of much more than what is shown in this game.

Thanks! Combination of hardware (power sockets with local API’s), application developed specifically for these readings and self-made effects in my editing to bring it all together.

Yes you can change it also on consoles, but I didn’t do any changes just used the defaults.

maybe it would be better to render the game a little over 1080p, like 1300p and better settings on console instead of pusging the res.

That's what happens when all of its GPUs components be it fixed function or CUs run 22% faster comparatively. That 22% higher geometry throughput, pixel fillrate and higher bandwidth caches don't come free of charge.

The xbox series X got the exact same footage as the ps5 in this video lmao, also you can switch the gamma settings.
I don't see any difference in terms of reflection accuracy between versions (only the resolution changes), so either the game doesn't use ray tracing at all, or ray tracing is used on each (including serie S) ?

I own all consoles and own a VRR 120hz capable TV, which versiom would you recommend? Dont mind the game dropping some frames (5-10fps) as VRR seems to deal with them quite well, did not care about the drops on Cyberpunk 2077 as well, do you think picking the Series X would be a good choice? Thanks!
They are pretty much the same, personally I would go with the cheapest option or pick the one for your favourite console.

PC Ultra watt usage looks hella inefficient it looks better but not 50% better at over twice the wattage.
Probably the only thing prevent me from getting a desktop it just uses too damn much power.

There’s no reason for the game to look this bad on consoles, it’s not like the consoles cannot handle to look like the pc version, i mean, look at “driveclub” on the ps4, looks better than this, it’s unacceptable, plus the fact that the game is made for the new consoles specifically.

The PC version looks so much better than the console versions with higher resolution textures and much better contrast. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions look washed out in comparison.
The Series X isn't washed out at all , it is extremely vibrant. Remember PC's are at least twice as powerful from 3080 onwards though compared to a series X and have masses more memory available for texture quality.

I have a Acer Predator laptop, this game now only £5.99 on steam about $7 so tried core i7 3070ti, 16Gb, vs PS5, laptop won over my ps5 disc version, lighting and reflection epic, on 4k tv as output.
Another game that looks pretty last-gen for being a current-gen "exclusive". Look at that pop-in on PS5/SX, what the heck?!

Both were off (I let go HDR a while ago since it was difficult to maintain for videos), dubbel checked my recordings and videos were .709 on my external recorder that automatically switches signal between Rec.709 and PQ.2010. Also, no HDR option in-game (PC).... HDR (PQ.2010) footage in a Rec.709 would have looked even darker with a grey-like wash all over the place (been there, done that, got the t-shirt).

Way more vibrant colours
Depends on your gamma settings, you can initially change these on consoles. Could be a difference there for PC and consoles in the defaults. I always leave all of these settings at default (obviously with the exception of switching off motion blur/film grain and so on), by doing so I can't do anything that benefits one system more than the other. See my pinnend comment were I do mention gamma. Lookup a couple of videos myself and I would say the colours of this video match with others on YT. When started recording PC I double checked all mentioned in my previous comment because I noticed such a big difference. Take care.

They downgraded the consoles to make PC player feel good. In reality PC is also downgraded and can do way better and the consoles could look like the PC version and PC version could look way better

I’ve been a fan of the series for a long time, with ups and (more) downs. Want to like this one but I’m not sure it will be enough to really save/boost the series. Time will tell I guess.
