Good lesson to learn here is the rust will come back unless you cut and remove the panel and remove all that dirt and debris in the bracket. Im in the middle of my repair on the bottoms of the fenders and glad I stumbled on this chanel. Really fine job of showing all the steps including backside panel prep, support prep and drain hole. One can see this is the right way to permenantly fix these panel bottoms. Great job of controlling your heat on the mig. I can sit and watch you work all day. You will never starve with your mad skills. Vids like this keeps us energized and working on our old trucks.
I wish Mr Gibson was my neighbor. Never seen a you tube rating of all thumbs up, none down, but he deserves it. If people doing time in prison could learn these skills, they could earn a good living when they get out.
Awesome work as usual,,, I too am restoring a 63 C10 and I am a carpenter,,, and my name is Steve,, not kidding. I've learned a lot, wish we lived closer,,, keep up the great work!!
Last Sunday I found your channel. Binge watched all your videos. The red truck is simply AMAZING. I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest video. You keep up the good work I'll keep watching. My 65 is soon on the surgical table like that. Thanks for all the great info and tips. Best wishes
I’m taking Autobody In school right now! Loving your videos! Got a 65 ford galaxie and my brothers 83 c10 I’m going to be starting soon! Awesome videos !!
I’m always blown away at how easy you make this look!! Seriously impressed! I know some really good body guys and have so much respect for guys that do this stuff!! Amazing!
I am getting ready to do the same project in the next few weeks. My first step when prepping for a repair on the 66 is to see if Gibson63 has a video on it.
I do things about like you with 2 differences, first, I close as much as possible the gap between the original panel and the patch panel, second, I cut my welding wire before each restart and third, between beads, I wash the entire panel with a sponge soaked in fresh water to keep the panel cool.next time II'll do this type of work, I'll try air cooling You've done a very nice job
Preparing to do some major bodywork restoration after a 30 year gap. Been watching your channel for a couple of years and your videos are the closest thing to metal bodywork restoration perfection I've seen on RUclips. Great skill and inspiring stuff.👌👍
I watched you do the red truck from beginning to end and I know you do construction work for a living but tell me how you learned to do such good body and paint work. You really do show quality work.
Nice... I'm still looking for a grill for my 63 C10 pick-up if you run into one for sale please let me know brother. Keep up the great work your Dad is going to really enjoy the truck when your all done and the two of you go cruzzing in the twin 63's. Remember my 63 C10 pick-up is next brother lol... I just picked up my intake manifold for my 327 it's an oldie but goodie an Eddy C3BX with oil tube, next trying to hook up a Holley for the intake manifold. Slow an steady getting parts together for the 327 then God Willing someday do the change from l6 to 327. God has blessed you with an eye for tin an body work and painting... Keep On Trucking brother...
Gibson63; thanks brother I need all the help I can get, I found a few but they were bent and full of rust and holes. My 63 C10 has a 64-66 grill and it just don't look good... Thanks again...
Hey ,on those patch panel the wheel well does not curve around like the factoryv,is that why you cut yours on an angel ? Right I noticed mine dint curve so I need to do like you did
Incredible work! Would it be much different doing this job with fender still on the truck. I gotta do the lower rear fender just behind the back tire. Very limited experience with metal work.
This looks like the same goodmark patch I bought. The convex portions along the wheel have a sharp fold in it. Nothing like the factory curved surface. That is irritating my fender was decent along that perimeter so I cut it off and just used the flat metal. What a waste. A couple of years ago I bought a rocker and sill the oas l was too short inside and out. Not sure what the point is of stamping something that is kind of like what you need.
Very neat job :) I have a question tho. At 12:22 , have you applied something on the metal (against rust) before welding it? And if so, isnt welding it, just going to burn it through exactly where the weld is, leading to rust, eventually? Thank you in advance for your time.
If your talking about metal to metal I’ve tried several things before, weld through primer, or epoxy, but you’re right the welds we’ll burn through Whatever you put on it.i will epoxy everything down real good spray some rust encapsulator/undercoating all in these Areas,I did brush on some rust encapsulated thanks
Excellent craftsmanship as always. I also appreciate that you show the entire procedure (headaches and all). I just put up a small very detailed series on our SBC 350 build. I think it might be something you would like based on your last comment on our channel. This is great content man! Any plans on doing some other types of trucks/cars in the future?
Like most people I try to save as much as the original sheet metal as possible if it’s not rusted or damaged no need to cut into it, I can always use the leftover patch for other repairs
STILL THE BEST C10 SHEET METAL REPAIR VIDEOS AVAILABLE ON RUclips TO THIS DAY!!
God I love this channel! No flimsy "Hot girl with car parts" BS, or "I wanna be a music video producer" nonsense. Thank you! Now, here we go..
you aint lyin! gets down to it gets it done.....and we get to see EXACTLy how its done
I hope you produce more videos! They are real informative!

No Rock Music, no phony plots, drama or reveal deadlines. Just plain old instruction. Great video Channel.

what material plate did you use in the back at 12:25 to weld up those holes?
Romar Hiensch Flat piece of copper
