I can't believe this game can be done so easily. I still love this game, and I love playing it... but watching it get destroyed is almost heart-breaking... I put so much time into grinding for items, and this person beats the whole game in under 29 minutes. Good job player, well done, and you made me want to play this game again. I spent hours trying to get certain items, and this person beat the entire game in less time than the RNG took to give me a single item that I probably didn't even use.
To be fair, it only looked easy. Getting those glitches would be nigh impossible for casual players like you and me. These runners spend hours mastering frame-perfect inputs and precise positioning to pull this stuff off. The only glitch I could ever consistently pull off in this game was the Death skip to keep all your Alucard gear at the beginning. :P
The Duplicator is awesome. I have a video on my channel (although I think it might be private, not quite sure) where I use the Duplicator and the Bat Pentagram to show what is, in my opinion, the easiest and quickest way to level familiars. The Duplicator is pretty OP, honestly.
Well the game itself is not too difficult. It was made for new people to be introduced to the Castlevania series and is one of the easiest games in the series. The 100% run is also around 1:30:00 as well. Also the Alucart set gives you more luck and there are also luck potions you can use to increase your chance of getting certain drops.
I like how the guy in the back doesn't understand how it works but he still tries to explain it by explaining what we just seen by describing what we seen.
A game I would never try to speedrun just because it's such a treat to play all the way through every time. I may try the skip Death cutscene just to start with Alucard's main weapons though.
24:12 at this point he didn't have to worry about exp. I'm curious why he didn't use like constant bombs to clear the screen when backstepping through that hallway.
Can someone explain me the Death skip? Didnt play SOTN as much as Dawn of Sorrow, because yknow... Souls are cooler. But i would love to farm this run now
Rarafag Aza basically sotn has a mechanic where if an attack does a lot of damage to you you get hit with super knock back which will send you flying into the nearest wall, ceiling or floor, so they exploit this to get knocked back and go right over the trigger for deaths cutscene
You've missed out on a lot of the game then. The reverse castle is harder, has different bosses and enemies, and you get the better ending that way by fighting against Dracula instead of Richter.
I don't know if I'd agree on it being easier, but at least the music is different. They could've re-used soundtracks for the reverse castle, but it's cool that they used differing ones.
Well I had ended up getting that sword that strikes multiple times plus the ring that "Gives you the strength of 24 men" So I just ran spamming my attack button and killed every enemy in like less than a second.
8:49 Wow, I never realized you could do Death Skip from the first (leftmost) warg in that room; I've always been doing Death Skip from the second! Do you need more precision to do it from that warg than the second? Also, I always thought that you had to walk in and immediately back out of the cutscene room before letting the Warg lunge at you and send you through Death Skip? Can someone help to make me less confused about this situation? Is this ALL because the runner is playing on the 360 instead of the actual game disc? On another note, it's really amazing how much of the game you can skip. I didn't think "no bosses but Dracula 1 and 2" was even possible!
Codeman73H1337 hey, all you have to do to skip death (works on ps1 and 360 versions) is jump over the first warg in the room after his bite attack and immediately walk into his butt while unequiping the right gear. The cutscene will try and play so you can't open the start menu until you save and reload or load a new area from a CD room.
This was a great game! I kept playing it endlessly to collect ALL the items/weapons! It was great, just wish I could have seen the character's face lile in Lament of Innocence, or better yet Curse of Darkness.
When he died, how did he get into the save room near Medusa? I did not see him go there and save. I re-watched the part to make sure. I thought he was going far back before getting into the inverted castle again.
i know, he said he had a save state specifically for that part, thats why he named the toon medusa. How can run still be valid? The 2 save states had different hp so there is no telling what else could be different. I was looking through the comment section for this very reason and you were the only one who has mentioned it.
When it comes to a GDQ run, using safety saves is perfectly OK. The idea of these isn't to create an official run, it's to entertain viewers and get them to donate to their charity by doing something they love. As for the validity of the run, you're absolutely right. Using a separate save file in this manner would have it rejected immediately. But again, that isn't the point here.
It really doesn't matter if the run is valid or not, almost nobody get's a world record or even a PB in a Marathon. I've only seen it in very obscure games that very few people speedrun.
Calvin Collins yeah the problem is that his health is higher in the second save and that’s cheating because he skipped health max ups to save time and then just started up another save where he got those max ups
@@emmastone7734 " yeah the problem is that his health is higher in the second save and that’s cheating because he skipped health max ups" This wasn't a scored run--just a spectator marathon. Besides, the additional health had no actual impact on the run given that he took no hits after that point, and probably any hit still would have killed him.
I'm pissed that this is the one game I knew all the speedrunning tricks to. I use that wolf transform trick in the time stop shaft room too. I had no idea that all these things combined makes for speedrunning
theres an easier way into the librarians room. just make those ghost books come out and do that downwards kick dive move and damage boost off both of the ghost books and you should land on the edge you cant jump to.
My first run of this game was completed within 25 hours, later i did it in 8 hours. Damm, how the hell they find so many glitches ? Good work for a speedrun, but i just love roaming the castle.
Servant: "Dracula, my lord, Alucard has entered the castle." Dracula: "Prepare our defenses, ready the bosses. It will take him days to reach this location." 28 minutes or so later... Alucard: "Trouble the soul of my mother, no more!" Dracula: "How in the f..."
wow I didn't know that some of the same tricks I use when I play this game are the same exploits speedrunners use. I always skip death and slogra and gaibon. I cant do it on command tho like most speedrunners
26:43 Alucard: “What?!”
27:12
Ah yes, the Vampire Michael Jackson simulator.
Christopher Black lmao
Well he is moon walking.
omg totally lost it
Hee heee( Micheal Jackson sound)
That's exactly what I was just thinking. I was going to make a comment saying "this is literal moonwalking".
One of the best games ever made.
Must be terrifying to see Alucard's backside rushing towards you.
This whole video sounds like an overactive dog sniffing constantly.
never ending supply of sniffs..sounds like my dog lmao..tickles
More like satan's dog doing lots of cocaine
😂
skudzer1985 shield dashing ftw
It's awesome to see that SOTN is, to this day, being played in gdq. This masterpiece never gets old.
hehe thank hehe hehe thank hehe thank you! hehe he... farewell for now!
so thats how u walk, my whole life was a lie.
Using a shield resets the back slide so if you keep alternating your fingers between them you can move fast like that.
It's also pretty fun to do

Love that I can hear the game! =)
"It was discovered by Sock Folder."
Me: Of course it was
The button inputs were insane in this. So kick ass one of my favorite most entertaining and slickest runs
25:34 -Me watching almost every speed run lol
Best PS1 game ever made. Great run.
This is the best castlevanya ever

CosmoSpeedruns beat this game in like 8 minutes a while back, you should look up that run

Dude takes like an hour to explain something that should only take 10 seconds
Somebody is shoveling sand in minecraft
judging by the speed it has to be a diamond shovel, the iron ones aren't that fast
Giorgio Fenu probably has eff 5
Elegance and composure. Congratulations to everyone involved.
This game and runs always teaches me new things. Really amazing
I love this game
Holy! Sh*tttt! 1080p 60fps. AGDQ just got upgrade
Just a thought. Instead of "no bosses" shouldn't it be called, "Just Dracula"?

Nice run by Dr. Four Gonblitz.
Romscouts no kill run of this game was the best.
Imagine being a minion in there and getting killed by a moon-walking vampire

how did he know all this trickss amazing such a cool dude

Shouldn't this run be called Dracula only?

I like the Castlevania reference at 13:11.
Yeah it was very subtle, i don’t think many people picked up on it.
when i was i boy we finished it in more than a week. you finished it in just half an hour
It's cool to see how every trick just barely becomes possible after the last.
insane bro
Good run!

Best game ever.
This guy is a god!
I want to know how he does infinite wing smash.
Someone can explain how the library glitch works at 15:25??
best run ever..!!!
I didn't even KNOW that entire Reverse Castle existed. I've just been killing Richter.

Yeah. I kinda found out how to get in there after I watched this. The sad thing is it was just as easy, if not easier than the first castle.

what console ? i wan to play
Garry Fam original playstation. Also rereleased on x360 (xbox live), ps3 (psn) and psp (in dracula x chronicles).

He changed the savegame when he died to the black panther
Tafarel Oliveira Yes, and he mentioned that. He created a safety save for that exact instance
Calvin Collins yeah the problem is that his health is higher in the second save and that’s cheating because he skipped health max ups to save time and then just started up another save where he got those max ups
