I have none of the machines you have but I’ve learned a lot being apart of your audience. You’ve greatly befitted my workflow and outlook on in-house servicing. Cheers from Jamaica
Watching your videos feels like being an apprentice in your shop. You would make a great "printing" teacher, your style of explaining things is easy to follow but not boring to follow. There is never this sense of "oh those big machines full of electronic - paaaanic". Your calm nature of "no matter the problem, we can narrow the cause down to ... , let's take the machine apart, part by part, and we will find the cause and fix it" is soothing.
I like your channel. I worked as a KM tech for 8.5 years. I was certified on all machines up to productions machines. They are great and I am glad to see you take the time to do most of the work yourself.
Your vids are very educational and straight to the point. I have worked in the printing industry since 1988 (in conventional and digital prepress). I will soon be running toner base "presses", so the more I learn the better.
Hi Dan, you asked in the end why we are watching your videos. I can just answer for myself and I like the combination of educational content, mesmerizing time lapses and your enthusiasm about your job! I always had an interest in a behind the scenes look of a print shop, as I just like the feeling of printed products and paper. So I really appreciate that you give us a guided tour of your daily work! Thanks a lot and kind regards, Florian
Just noticed that one of your Counters list a part that has a count of 23 million !! that's 4,600 cases of paper !! at average 50 pounds per case that's 230,000 lbs of paper !!! never knew these lasted that long ... imagine if you tallied all the parts and supplies you've put into this machine ?? I've been Copier tech for 40 years ... retired ... but, like cars ... the initial cost of ownership is eclipsed by supplies such as Gas, Oil, Parts, and Service. Pretty smart to do service yourself ... saves lots of money and down time waiting for a Tech !! - wonderful videos !!!
I enjoy watching these videos as it teaches me something that I have not had the exposure to. Working in IT/DevOps my whole career learning something different gives a new viewpoint to what would be accepted without question. When I was head of Corp IT it was my goal to never lease a copier or printer but to buy outright and stock parts. This saved a good deal of money over the years. Back before HP broke up I would get my sales people to toss in a case or two free toner on a 100k desktop order.
Hi Dan, Your vlogs are absolutely brilliant I look forward to each and everyone of them, not many printers that I know would do any of the servicing of their machines that you do, you really do stand Head & Shoulders way above them, your channel is Truly Exceptional. Please continue with your channel and your vlogs, they as in the content and what you do and achieve is Truly Amazing. Thank you for sharing your busy life with us and bringing us along for the journey.
Just subscribed and find what you are doing very interesting. Having worked in a bindery for 30 years and being an operator for 25 years it is informative to see how digital printing and smaller jobs are done.
I appreciate the videos. I'm a small one man shop and seeing you tackle the volume of work that you do is inspiring to me. I also run a single Konica c1060 machine without any bells or whistles. I'm hoping to get a good Bookletmaker with 3sided trim or atleast a face trimmer at the minimum. I look at your shop as being one I can be eventually. Keep up the good work, and thank you for posting.
I used to part own and run a digital printing company in south africa - 24 staff, Konica Minolta, Xerox, HP Indigo, Ricoh small format printers + HP Latex large format and a whole bunch of finishing kit. I too at some point did everything in the shop. I'm so jealous, i would love to have your job right now...a whole print shop all to myself!!
This video has kind of content which draws me in, love to see your thought process when an issue arises. Just wish you had a Ricoh but I've learned a lot and am emboldened to take on my own repairs. Thank you!
Oh man. You’re at 10k subs because you love your job, love to teach, and in general, vibe a lot of love. You inspired me to look past all of the pain in running a print shop. I know I can do it. A little more challenging when I have coworkers to depend on (lucky you!). Have a good evening, sir (:

Hi, Dan, I'm glad to see your new video. Before replacing the transfer belt, the toner particles on the roller should be removed. Otherwise, these particles will cause the transfer belt to bulge during operation, thus reducing the service life of the transfer belt and belt scraper.
Again great video. I always learn something watching your video. And most times it's a takeaway of something not directly related to the topic of thr video. But yeah continue making these congrats on numer 10k and more still will be coming. Stay safe and blessed during the season everyone.
I love my IQ man, been great for the book printing keeps everything consistent, just always have to remember to do the booth sides each day lol, but if it senses anything off on the paper it will tell you to remove those sheets, also after a paper jam. I always run both sides twice so send on to print and send a second to be sure. it will also spit out your max densities as well. and auto update as you print. I love it!
Its a bummer that you would need to do both sides each day. I did notice that on restart I had to run it a second time. I think I'll end up liking it but the spots have appeared again. I think I just need to do a good cleaning on the entire paper path.
@@justaprinter Sorry I mean when it restarts lol, like you mentioned. it can also auto-adjust after so many prints. Which is great too. Do you ave any peper suggestions for weight and paper type for photo heavy books on the 3070? I'm using 100lb and feel like this book I'm doing is a little heavy and i think with my humidity here it gets a little dippy in the final book product. The transfer belt on the 1200 should last 4.5 million. If the belt shreds, clean the edge of the belt cleaner unit. Toner dropping down from the drum cleaner unit can fuse to the belt while the machine is turned off. Turning the machine back on in the morning will sometimes cause the belt to tear. Check the lower toner seal on the drum cleaner unit for warps. The IQ-501 is a separate school for konica technicians. Do not feel bad if you cannot fix it. Most IQ-501's are on the C6100 series copiers. The registration accuracy of the C3070 is usually pretty good and does not need the unit.
I know that in other machines, there is a self centering mechanism for the itb, sometimes its simple with a manual adjustment, and sometimes its a series of sensors and actuators.. keep an eye on any drifting. Dont want to see you chew it up again.
Another thing I can say is if that IQ 501 was one of the first ones made it's probably faulty in some areas. The one I have on my C-6100 gives me problems every now and then. The wand I have is hard to put into the machine on one side because the factory set screws were off so it threw off the alignment. I have another IQ 501 on a c-14000 and it works wonderfully
Hi Dan, for IQ problem solving, try to clean inside of glass of scanner 1. Dust is comes from air intakes in circulation. Wrap the black airhole to prevent dust come in
I've got my auto package adjust running gamma, density balance auto adjust, max density adjust, and color density control. If you have paper catalogs set you can save your both sides adjustment to the catalog to save time in constantly doing the adjustment. But I recommend not getting too comfortable with it because sometimes it can change but it has been pretty consistent for me. Just keep an eye on it
Interesting, I have been poking around and I did see package adjust. I need to read up on this and implement. I do see how it can be handy when properly implemented.
Not sure if you know but you can IQ the individual stocks. In your video you are IQ the trays. If you go to registered stocks and then perform automeasure then make sure on exit to overwrite the stock. This will apply IQ to the stock and any tray it runs from. I have been able to clean it with the cleaning tool. But I am wondering if I just need to blow out the whole IQ unit. I'm assuming paper dust is the culprit.
I only have one Commercial Printer customer ... he's running an older KM Bizhub 550 or 5500 never can remember ! this customer only has 9,000,000 ... I've asked him before if he thinks he's making a profit on the machine, he operates offset presses as well. I imagine that if you weren't doing most of the maintenance ... it might not be as profitable. Many dealers only replace supplies when the customer complains, ie: they turn off the counters. I've been doing this for 40 years !! started out on liquid toned copiers, capable of only only color: Dark Gray !! then on to some of the first plain paper copier that used dry toner. The first Toshiba small copiers were known for starting on fire ... heat lamp fusing where the paper was dragged thru copier by gripper chains !! I suppose I should write a Book . LOL
Hi Dan. Error C3401 for KM C1060L. I start the device in service mode, after 5 minutes I leave it - the printer is working normally. Is there an alternative solution? thx
Something with your fuser. Causes: ADU drive board (ADUDB) Printer control board (PRCB) NOTE • C-3401 to C-3901 (fusing temperature related abnormalities) occur, be sure to repair defective parts before setting the software DipSW3-1 to 0. Setting the DipSW3-1 to 0 with defective parts not repaired may result in a fire

@@justaprinter we had 99% for our Indigo’s and is used it cleaning my laminator. I was told to use the pressrooms IPA for that chore, 25%. You’d use it to polish your chrome heated roller and it would sizzle and turn to steam and burn you. I left the guy who “narked” on me clean it up after he ran it one day...hmmm, 99% sure works REALLY GREAT for cleaning up the laminator, doesn’t it, Jeff.
Also, and wear lines or groove on the outer edge of your drum is perfectly normal. Your dealing with a Konica Minolta that is an overly sensative machine. Welcome to the Bizhub copier!

LOL
WOW, yes, you should write a book. I would find your stories very interesting.

Thank you very much!
I wish I could find a job in the printing business. That what I wanted to do a long time but just never did it now I wish I did.
It can be fun!
the guys we have that fix these are in my shop like 3 times a week at least
Oh no, thats not good news to me. Well, it if doesn't run, I'll take it out and be happy without it. :)
Is that a walkie talkie on your belt?
It is a pager for the fire department
@@justaprinter oh wow you are a fireman too?
@@user-jt5vm3mi1w You bet!
I can give you a list on what I keep on hand as a technician.
Just took my IQ out of service for now.
@@justaprinter To bad we just installed a new one at another customers office.
Oh hi there 😀
Hi!
i'm so curious of iq501 performs
Time will tell.
I've probably heard that there's a secret that konica minolta doesn't want us to know is that its digital press works fine without the IQ501.lol
Haha, you know I remember hearing that somewhere too!
Acuariopress c 14000 wire charg?
Those 14000 machines are awesome!
Looks like me
Great minds think alike!
Clean both spectro and RGB scanners
Good point. I'll have to do that.
What % of ipa are you using?
Its 99%. I do notice that some other ipa I have "flows" differently and I always wondered why.
@@bearpump Hahaha, interesting.
According to you, what are all the jobs available for the Women graduates of B.E Printing Tech ..?
Oh boy, anywhere from customer service, design, pre-press, press, finishing, quality control. Seriously anywhere. Find something you like and try it.

Блок iq нужно герметизировать. Через щели поступает пыль, пыль оседает на оптике. Ваше решение временное.
Вскоре я узнал об этом. Мне нужно его очистить и закрыть. Благодаря!
Dan, you put in an awful lot of steps! Have you ever worn a FitBit?
I have not. That would be interesting, I do go through shoes pretty quickly. :)
See spot, not run.
Hahaha!
Also, and wear lines or groove on the outer edge of your drum is perfectly normal. Your dealing with a Konica Minolta that is an overly sensative machine. Welcome to the Bizhub copier!
Haha!
