  • The Step Kings are a Alternative/Rap-Metal that formed in New York in 1997. Their old website describes their sound like this: "This would be hardcore, except there's six degrees of seperation: 1) Well defined guitars. 2) Meatier lyrical content. 3) The metal emphasis on the drums makes it twice as cunning. 4) Dashes of jazz, reggae and acoustics. 5) Vocal tones do it like they do it for Linkin Park. 6) Valleys and hills in arrangements that add a three-diminsional quality. So grab Kevin Bacon by the hand, and go into the mosh pit to trample on life's woes for a bit." Their song "Vibe" was featured in the film Travis Pastrana's Revelation 199. The band were signed to Roadrunner records in 2000 and were able to reissue their debut album "Let's Get It On!" but were dropped shortly after.
3 The Hard Way was released on June 11th, 2002 and was their last album released before disbanding soon after. Although the band are known as "The Step Kings", they are referred to as "Step Kings" on this album (Reason Unknown). Much like the band's other two project (an album and an EP), this album was released on Fantastic Plastic Records. Though this one was released in conjunction with We Put Out Records.
While the rest of the album is not on streaming, the song California is and so is their first album. Go give them a listen: open.spotify.com/artist/5OYjR...
