Awesome video Jay, and Frostbite.. Forstbite recently sent me some rods and my first day out they turned into my favorite rods. 37" ML smoke show, and the 39" dipstick. The smoke show performed how i wanted , and was ideal for my trout rod on the jaw jacker .

You can use silicone tape to attach the reel to the handle. I find it works better than electrical tape, it's rated down to -50C and doesn't leave any sticky residue on the cork.
I love these rods! I have 2 feather dusters a Truegrit and a Smokeshow. I just ordered a Mr Noodles for this season. Such a great line up of rods and baits Frostbite is a major player on Ice. Outstanding products
Love my Dipstick! Just added the Smokeshow and will likely grab the DumpTruck or MrBig for the lake trout trips.
I was given 3 of these for free, I’m located on the great slave lake so big fish are definitely something they’ll be up against!

Also for someone on the fence about buying a frost bite allmost all my rods are frostbite and have never broken other then one for my own stupidity and not from fishing I got a custom mags rod with the Eskimo collaboration and it broke after 3 fish I would go with frost bite any day they are durable and sensitive even if you are suing a slightly to big rod for smaller fish you can still feel everything and in addition there small tantrum bait is awesome for perch I’ve caught way more on that then on the standard tear drop jig everything frostbite has is dialed in

I would love to see a series with a reel seat + the recoil guides. IMO that would be the ultimate rod as i personally prefer a reel seat.
Currently running the Drench, Smokeshow, True Grit for Walleye. Then the Mr. Big, Drama Queen, Slugger for pike. and THEN... the Run&Gun for anything that swims, what an awesome rod, I've caught everything from 10" perch to 42" Pike on the run&gun and its never skipped a beat. Keep at it Frostbite

Last year I purchased a drench. When i was placing the reel on the handle. I was holdin the base and it fell of the screw area and dropped to the floor and shattered the tip. Maybe a longer screw for bigger handles. Other than that i love my royal flush.
Also the grips come with extra if you get the vanta black I just put it on my normal frostbite royal flush and it went on down you just will have that reel on there permanently

I have a dump truck and love it but will never put it in another jaw jacker, mine split sitting in the jaw jacker but frostbite took care of it so no complaints actually give them props for customer service
This is exactly what i needed to know, i wanted a dump truck for my lake jawjacker rod. Not huge fish usually 35 inch tops. I wonder if a mh rod would be a better call, did they say why it broke?
@mudjerry they said it shouldn't have done that I actually repaired it and my son has been using it great rod just scared to use it in a jaw jacker I use other rods for those but a finicky fooler and my dump truck👍👍

This is a fyi tip that may or may not work haven’t tested it yet because we don’t have ice yet in Ny but I cracked my drench at the mid tip section didn’t break it clean just some cracks it wasn’t from fishing it was because I carried it in my pack to go to a back country lake I didn’t realize the crack at the time but I did getting ready for ice I repaired it by taking braid and wrapping the cracked section then took super glue and sealed it like you would sealing in a fly for fly fishing I figure it won’t be as strong as it was and that method want be the strongest it could be if I used UV resign like you would on a fly but it should strengthen it a bit and again it wasn’t the rods fault it was mine
Any way you could recommend any specific grease and oil i should be using for ice fishing reels?

Hey Jay, looking for a rod for my old man for Christmas. Hes an old school brook trout/splake guy fishing either without a hut or in a small otter flipover. Would the smokeshow be his best bet, or should I go with one of the shorter rods?

Love the answer for the warranty. So it's pretty much not for my boss when you say if u don't slam it in a door or step on it. U totally described my boss. I don't know how many walleye rods he has sent back to st Croix. He loves snapping tips off. Lol. Great video as always Jay. Can't wait to see the family out on the ice this winter.

Dump Truck is great! Drama Queen is also Fiberglass, so good for keeping them pinned.

Was really excited to try out the 19L Sight Bite (first rod in the lineup). But unfortunately received an email this morning stating that the warehouse doesn't have the Sight Bite rods in stock. And at this time, they don't plan to get these back in stock. Website still says you can add to cart so just a heads up to everyone!
Maybe we need to bring back the sight bite... Everyone roasted Alex for desiging a 19" rod. But it is actually prettly slick for some applications.

Graffite is not for me it just breaks my son had broken them just putting them in the car. How come the fiberglass rod just the strongest rods to get. Just waking though Walmart and look at the rods the graffite rods are broken on the shelves 🤷 I can say two company that are always broken on the tip off. The ice fishing rods are great. All the ice fishing rods I've seen is 15 inch to 12 inches ⁉️ 3 feet long ⁉️ is that like a regular rod 12 inches different from my trout rod. Fun is ice fishing 🎣
I just got a ugly stick GX2 dock runner with a ABU Garcia Max Z size 10 reel because the original is junk. I can use it for ice fishing I'll try this year. Everyone has short rods I'm going the other way this year. Nice video on ice fishing rods 👊🏼 respect for all that ice fish.
Few questions about 34UL Feather Duster
Is it more of sight or feel bite rod?
Is it fast or moderate action?
Lastly what lure size would it be recommended for?

The feather duster has a really moderate action. Like the entire blank can flex some. It keeps fish pinned like nothing else. Never had anything pop off of it once they’re hooked. I would say it’s a bit more of a sight rather than feel rod, since it’s made of fiberglass and fiberglass is less sensitive than graphite. You can still feel the bites no problem, but it’s not quite as sensitive as graphite

Feather Duster is best for seeing the bites, just like John said below. Royal Flush is Graphite and will give you that "feel".
If the fish are lifting the bait, then the Feather Duster shows that better than you will be able to feel it with any graphite rod.
4mm Tungsten jig with a dragonfly is a go to set up for finesse crappies and panfish.

I’m new to the ice fishing world. Can anyone explain to me why there isn’t a reel locking seat on the pole? Seems janky to have to tape a reel on.
The more expensive ones don’t have the locking because of the weight of the system. Personally, I would rather just buy the cheaper version and deal with iced up guides and weight than having to go through a whole process just to switch reels. To each their own though

Feather Duster is great, you can see soft bites and even when they lift the bait on 4mm tungsten jigs.
I'd love to see a 32 inch Light. There's a pretty big gap in size between Light power rods (19 inch Sight Bite to the 36 Royal Flush). I think a 32 L would be nice for Crappie and and Perch, since I feel like my Drench is a bit big for perch and my Feather Duster is a bit small for Crappie, and I prefer something in the low 30s range for panfishing. Would be nice to have something to fill the gap! Super happy with everything from Frostbite so far, keep it up guys!

@fishfrostbite I think something in-between the slugger and Mr big. 45-46" just a little softer than the slugger. Glass to keep cost down.

In my area at least we use a lot of MH 28-32 inch rod for perch. The MH for spoons work better in shallow water (2-6 ft) for slab grabbers, gusters, ken spoons etc. Allows to pull perch up fast since we don't need to reel and get right back down. The area I am you get schools of 100 plus fish and that's key to keeping them there! I love the Meat Locker and Pantastic for the more deeper water where reeling is needed. Would love to see a rod in the smaller size for this
Can we use these rods in hot areas
These rods work well in any temperature, however they are specifically designed for ice fishing, the guides, rod length, taper and handle all benefit ice fishing applications.
I want to get the drench in vantum black, it says 59…. But comes up as 119… any idea what I’m doing wrong?
