Very nice version! This guy is good. For those who don't know it, check out Robin Williamson's delicious version of this old folk tale/song, called "My Name is Death", from the 1966 album, "5000 Spirits or The Layers of the Onion".
I never get over how good this is. Lyrics as I hear them: As I walked out one morning in May The bird’s did sing and the lamb’s did play (x2) I met an old old man (x2) I met an old man by the way His head was bald and his beard was gray His coat was of some myrtle shade I asked him what country and what strange place did he belong “My name is death, can you not see? You men and women bow to me Oblivion and misery And you fair maid must come with me” I’ll give you gold and jewelry rare I’ll give you costly robes to wear I’ll give you all this and my wealth in store If you’ll let me live a few years more Fair lady, lay your robes aside You’ve no longer glory in your pride Oh sweet maid, make no delay Your time has come now you must away Soon after this the lady died, Write on my tomb the lady cried Here lies a poor distressed maid Who death not lately hath betrayed
@@JacViramuerte Oh, you're welcome! We put our own version of this together, fwiw, it's on our channel and bandcamp. I'd heartily recommend Norma Watterson's version too, if you've never come across it, it's also spooky and visceral in different ways from John's.
Don't listen to the album version on Spotify. I have listened to death metal that didn't invoke the rage I felt during the two minute dog whistle solo at the beginning. I like this version though.
It says this now includes paid promotions so I really just hope in the middle of this intense song it doesn't just stop to try to sell me pizza or some kind of pill

Soon after this the lady died,
Write on my tomb the lady cried
Here lies a poor distressed maid
Who death not lately hath betrayed
Thank you for this!
