The engine seems to be the Mercedes OM407hLA with 280bhp (you can tell from the whistling turbocharger). The gearbox isn't really recognisable for me, only when accelerating the engine revs very high before changing gear. And it changes gears more often than it would with the standard W3E110R gearbox (which only has 3 gears). But the rear axle is pretty noisy for an artic, those had reinforced epicycling gears in the final drives (rear wheel hubs) and didn't whine at all even when older.
The Allison MTB654CR (5-speed close-ratio) transmission is a rather rare sight in most city buses. Most Allisons I know were either MT643, MT644 or HT740.

These actually had 4WA's when they were new. Geared for 100km/h for the O-Bahn.
Has that Classic North American New Flyer sound! It does really sound good.

Reminds me most of a New Flyer D40LF with Allison B400R transmission and Cummins ISC engine.
super sound
Gotta love the sound of those hubs... =)
Great sound! And Allison gearbox! 5* mate!
@paulikxp I always knew it had a turbocharger, thanks for confirming! =D
588 has Merc Engine with a 5 Speed Allison Gearbox.
This is not an Allison, it's an MB gearbox... But great sound, though.
