@gamelvr1 Im glad someone finally challenged me on this. The last game of the season didn't mean anything for them. They already had it wrapped up if you want to talk about their record. They had probably the best secondary of all time, Steve Young was in his prime and so was Ricky Watters. They were able to dominate the good teams and the good quarterbacks in the NFL. They are definately the most underated Super Bowl winner and teams of all time.
chrazienutz- You just need to get your years for the teams correct haha (half the teams you listed have the reg. season year, and the other half has the year they won the SB) I gave your comment a thumbs up though, for a pretty good list.

I like the 89 49ers but once again the DEION SANDERS factor and having a quaterback with great scrambling ability brings out that extra dimension. Having ten probowlers was also very impressive.
I've seen lots of these lists, and this one is probably the best yet. The only team I think you overrate is the Jets. Maybe the 1976 Raiders in that spot. Other than that, very well done. (oh, and thank you for not listing the 1979 Steelers. 78 and 75 were the great ones.
I'd take 91 Bills, 94 Cowboys, 2008 Patriots over 67 new york jets,66 Packers,and 72 Dolphins any day. You have to consider players physique in the last 20 years compared to 40 years ago

I think the 1975 Steelers are the best because the Oilers and Bengals went 21-3 against the rest of the NFL that year and went 0-4 against the Steelers. The Steelers beat them by scores of 32-9 and 42-10 late in the season. Also, knowing how talented the Raiders and Cowboys were in 1975, well, yes, that 1975 Steelers would be the greatest ever.
@gamelvr1 I think you mean the Giants and Rams. Shutting out Dieter Brock and even the Giants passing game back then (BEFORE the Giants played at Minnesota in 1986) did not require great defense. I mean all you had to do to beat that 1985 bear defense was call a rollout away from Richard Dent. Call a rollout to your offense's right side and that 1985 Bear defense could be had.

Is the goal of a football game to win by as many points as possible, or is it simply to win, whether by 1 or by 100? I agree that winning the superbowl is the mark of the best team each season regardless of the team's wins in the regular season. But we're comparing superbowl winners. 46 teams have won the superbowl; only one has gone done so AND gone undefeated.

The 2000 Ravens and the 94 49ers could hang with any team there ever was but they just ignore both of them. 85 Bears would have killed the 72 Dolphins. Miami was lucky they didn't face Chicago in SBXX. The only team that would have challenged the 85 Bears would be the 89 49ers...& they aren't even on the list! Lol Neither is the 84 49ers, 58 Colts or 62 GB?

The only reason why they didn't lead all statistical categories was 3 things: Having one of the worst starting QBs gave the ball to the other team more, Having the best run defense forced more passes, and crunch time; the other teams had to pass. Stats arent everything. To say the Titans D was as good or better than the Ravens then you obviously wasnt paying attention that year. and I said the Media gives those teams more volume. @gamelvr1 You keep talking about wins while I already gave you a reason why they lost three games. So what about the 2000 Ravens who had four losses and possibly the best defense of all time. I think the Ravens could have handled some of those teams you mentioned. The difference between you and me is I take matchups into account, along with dominant players and playmakers.
1972 dolphins= 17-0 2007=18-0 untill the superbowl. if dolphins had a 16 game regular season they would lose but we all know the greatest team in football history are the 2008 lions

Merton Hanks is the most underated safety of all time, and with DEION SANDERS to go along with Hanks, Mcdonald, and Davis they had possibly the most dominant secondary of all time.
