If you're looking to buy the paints or miniatures used in this video then check out Warlord Games using my affiliates link!

I also did this a few years ago, wish I had seen your video first. A couple of things I found were that you could use magnets on top of the tank to hold the magnets underneath while the glue set and you can put magnets in MDF bases for a stronger attachment to the bases.
PS Having done this with both metal and plastic figures, I would recommend using plastic wherever possible as even neodymium magnets struggle to keep a metal figure in place.

Fiendishly clever idea and a very good video👍

Quick suggestion. Once you've put the small magnet in the figure, you could tack him into place on the tank, then use that to place the magnet on the underside, then maybe use superglue round that magnet to hold it in place.

    Brilliant idea!

Would it not be more practical to get a large magnetic strip and cut it to the size/s and dimensions of the engine deck? That way, you don't have to use up so many Rare Earth magnets _and_ you get more options on where to place your tank riders.

Not as strong as having another rare earth magnet.

It does seem like a more practical idea however as those strips aren't as strong as the rare earth magnets, they aren't strong enough through the thickness to securely hold the miniatures in place.

Wouldn't a metal washer fixed to the inside of the engine deck save on magnets ?

Still not as much attraction as another rare Earth magnet.

possible alternative to this.. metal sheet underneath the hull of the tank. Fit larger magnets to the regular tank rider minis you can buy. Dont see why it wouldent work. I'm contemplating atm also changing up the bases i put my bolt action minis on to bases abit more friendly to adding large magnets or lumps of magnetic material. ( mainly for storage purposes ) Looking at rubicons bases but havent seen anyone that uses them on youtube so far. Ideally want bases that arent so high as GWs to preserve that slightly more realistic look having thin-ish bases has. Given that most of the minis i have bought are metal im thinking about avoiding chipping and rubbing paint off here alot.

The officer with an accordion can be used on a tank.

These tank riders from 1stcorps are cheap and the pewter barrels on their ppsh:s are sturdy.
