A favorite film of mine, #LoveJones, and a particular scene/spoken word performance where I always felt there should have been MORE instruments included (not just the sax and upright bass in the original version), thus I added me playing the Fender Rhodes electric piano as well as some jazzy brush drums, and mixed and mastered it to make it sound better/fuller...and VOILA!
A re-imagining/new edit of #ABluesForNina" performed by Larenz Tate as Darius Lovehall, accompanied by Teodross Avery on Sax, Darryl Jones on bass, and yours truly, #AhmedSirour on the rest lol
I did this really quickly and for the fun of it so just replay and enjoy ;)
Ahmed
P.S. - Yes, I finally changed the title from the incorrectly named, "Brother to the Night" to "A Blues For Nina" 😂 Видеоклипы
While I'm glad most of you had a nice trip through nostalgia (and I really do love this film and this iconic scene), I'm thankful for the small handful of you, over the years, who REALLY LISTENED and realized this version includes a Rhodes electric piano and Jazz brush drums that I added (which is NOT in the original theatrical or soundtrack version-the original version only has the upright bass and saxophone players in it). Indirectly, it's sort of a compliment from those of you who missed it, because that means it blended in that well enough that many people didn't even catch it, because if my edits sounded bad, many of you would actually be upset and distracted by that instead of focusing Larenz Tate doing his thing 😂 Anyway, for as long as RUclips let me keep this up (amazingly), please continue to enjoy, and thank you for watching/listening 😉👍🏾
And remember, there's a free download of this version in the link in the description ☝🏾
Well Done!!!
A glorious day when women didn’t look like clones of each other and the men weren’t afraid to honor women
Yessssss speak
Well said sis...blessings to you....
😍😍
Siighhhhh they all dead sis… the world is crazy
yes snap snap
“Say baby, can I be your slave?” *drops draws* 😩😭
I paused the video immediately after that.
Hey bro for real it's time for them panties to drop....Is that alright 😎😎😎
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
You know it's a dope scene when you feel your cheek muscles getting tired from smiling too hard and too long while you're watching it. I still got this movie on VHS
Lol and the tickle in your heart
This scene had all kinds of ninjas trying to write poems. LOL!
😂😂😂so true...
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
Is it crazy that I want to watch this movie again, for the 18 millionth time?!?!
Nope lol
you not the only one
Same
''Is that alright?'' 🌹🌹😂😂😂
His voice...oh my goodness 😩😩😍😍😍😍always been in love with him
Me too
Me too
“YAAAS BABYYYY, TAKE YA TIME”, I know that lady cane straight from church
Hands down, this is one of, if not THE most sensual, evocative, sensual, jazzy, bluesy, visceral, vivid love poem/scene in movie history. All sone without a ounce of clothes coming off. It's all done kn the promise of, in the intent, our minds at play.
The Brother took it to a smooth place and effectually made his presence felt deep in her system. If you didn't feel that one your heart has grown ice cold.
A supremely underrated movie. One of my all time favorites.
Is your name Yemaya? Oh hell nah, it's got to be Oshun!!!
What did that mean? Sounds like Yoruba Orisha names or sth like that.
@@sowhat... basically
@@Lilbro901 what's the meaning though? Just saying random African names for no reason? Is it supposed to be a joke? I don't get it.
@@sowhat... look them up. He was likening her to African goddesses
@@sowhat... odhun is the yoruba goddess of femininity and beauty
love this.. never gets old or tiresome of it
+A Parker - Humes I would hope not, especially with piano and drum parts I added to make it newer ;) Glad you enjoyed.
No it doesn't....
@@ahmedsirourI need the instrumental for this. Where can I find it? It's not on Apple Music.
@@tanyaanderson8128 lol Sorry, but this wouldn't be available on any platform, actually, because aside from my original keyboard and drum arrangements I added to this, I don't own the rights to the rest of it so thus it could never be on any streaming platform, plus since I don't have the original studio mix of this, I wasn't able to remove Larenz Tate's vocals (let alone everyone else in the background). AI sound technology isn't that advanced as yet. But, if you decide you wanted a copy of the whole thing (vocals and all), it's in the link in the description 😌
@@ahmedsirour thanks so much for responding so quickly! This is a classic, great job!!
'A Renaissance Man'
He did this scene in one take now that's great acting.
I automatically smile when I hear this
So dope! There has not been a film or a score that comes close to this. #BrokeTheMold
Disappearing Acts is close! I love the movies and scores equally.
Nope.. I was thinking this which led me here
You obviously haven't seen enough films
Mo Betta Blues
Waiting to exhale soundtrack
I just l o v e this scene, this movie, the actors, the era, the culture... everything
Because in the almost 8 years that I've had this up on RUclips, no one has caught TWO musical Easter eggs I put in there, so I'm gonna reveal the references I snuck in here starting at 1:12 which is a reference to Soho's "Hot Music" (a House music classic), and then at 1:58 is a reference to Miles Davis' "So What" (one of the most famous/greatest Jazz songs of all time). I know many were too caught up in the poem to notice that as well, but figured I'd share this secret, finally 😉
I should have had a contest or giveaway to see if anyone could catch those two 😂
Okay, so first of all... HOW did I not even know this was here? 😩 This was a treasure chest of musical goodness that I ain't eem know existed. Thank you for doing this and sharing! Secondly, I did catch "So What," but I surely didn't catch the first one, so thank you for revealing them to us. My goodness, this was such an unexpected treat! Happy Monday!
It’s distinctly different at 1:18
I definitely hear miles Davis
@@amyperkins1085 Excuse the delayed reply but I'm very happy you enjoyed it and caught the Miles, but also the surprise you didn't catch 😁 Makes the experience more fun lol Was a pleasure to make this and share 😌🙏🏾
“F_ck yo man, I ain’t worried about him.” That’s a man after a woman’s heart. That screams passion. I love it!
Sept.8th: Happy birthday Actor Larenz Tate; "Love Jones" "The Inkwell" "Dead Presidents" "Biker Boyz" "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" "Power." Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, rhodiumears. Blessings
Jerry Johnson I know I'm late but you forgot "Menace to Society"
Nia Long looks so beautiful in that movie love Jones 🌹🌹🖤🖤
My favorite scene
This poem gets me everytime lol just wet dreams and all
Beautiful shades of my people. ❤❤❤

Whew Lord I had to come 👀 @ Larenz and hear his voice he was so Sexy in his delivery of this 💓

Oh my… this gives me goosebumps every time I hear it no matter how many thousands of times. Darius. Mmmmmm. ❤❤❤❤❤
So beautifully embellished. Love it.
Thank you very much 😊🙏🏾
That Rhodes in the background... what a great sound!
Thank you for noticing the new addition I put in there 😉👍🏾 As long as I've had this post up, so many people missed the whole point, deafened by nostalgia 😂
Never ever gets old!!!
No, but I hope my added parts made it newer ;)
I don't know how many times I have watched this movie, since I watched it for the 1st time in 1999,I have watched it 30 times a year simce then

A blues for Nina
It's alright. Love this trip down memory lane.
Who else said the poem word for word while watching the movie
Happy 50th Birthday Nia Long!
In love with this version.
Thank you! Not many people get that this is a version of and not the original version 😉
I have seen this movie a million times years ago and I didn't notice any difference. What's different about this version?
@@beautifulsurprise9424 You have to listen to the music. That's the point of this video (and listed in the description). The original version only had a saxophone and bass behind the poet...this one adds jazz drums and Rhodes piano/keyboard sounds, which is not in the movie or the soundtrack.
I perform at Open Mic Nights often and I can't do a sizzlin piece without smiling like I'm crazy 😊😄 He slammed that! Snap Snap Snap Snap!!!! 🔥❤️🖤💚👑
This movie is wonderful, and you got it just right with the instruments❤️
Thank you very much and I'm glad you actually caught that 😊
Now that I know who Yemayá and Oshun are, whewww 🥵🫠😏

This movie is so underrated
Man I wish I had the instrumental to your edit. Well done.. I can clearly hear you worked on it (headphones on) so good.
I thank you for your kind comment and discerning ears 😊I really did try to isolate the music from the vocals but it didn't come out very well. I think I'll try some different softwares to see if they can do a better job and then maybe repost it...or find the sax and bass guys from the movie and ask them to re-record it 😂
@@ahmedsirour
I can't ignore the difference in sound. Sometimes I couldn't focus on the poem anymore because your edit is so good.
yes please post it if you can do it.
If you should meet them, play that video to motivate them😀
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love Jones Job
After this, it was over. He had her.
He had her attention, for sure, but he didn't seal the deal until they crossed paths again at the record store and then showed up at her apartment uninvited 😂
I wish there was an instrumental of this somewhere
Now this is a FIRST! I'm pleasantly surprised because everyone usually comes on here and focused on Larenz Tate and the poetry itself and hardly catch the music (especially my alterations/additions it). Well, Tisha, let me see if I'm able to separate the two. It's not a perfect process, because the algorithms of today's music software that are designed to do that don't always succeed in doing that, but I can at least try and see. I'll let you know if it works or not, but thank you for inspiring me to even think of attempting it 😊🙏🏾
@@ahmedsirour Thank you. 😁😁
@@tisha1532 Well, I did try but it didn't come out well, unfortunately 🤷🏾♂There was too much going on between the crowd and Larenz's main speaking part to isolate the music from those vocal aspects. The only conceivable way to have just the instrumental is if I could have a saxophonist (the original or another one) replay the sax part, a bassist (original or replacement) to cover that part, and then add that to my rhodes piano and drums part. Not impossible at all, but just a lot involved without the necessary budget and time to make that happen lol Sorry, but I did try, though 😌🙏🏾
@@ahmedsirourplease make this into it instrumental because I would love to see someone a certain someone choreograph it. I was born in 88 and still remember this for my childhood when I wasn't old enough to know better. I thank you
@@ahmedsirourI believe in ya I know you can do it❤❤❤😊😊
shit this is great
