    nice explanation of the common faults,
    i believe these transmissions are all at the age now of needing replacement bushings.

    Great video and really gives confidence to those choosing where to bring their ZF box for a service.

    My 6hp21 started with error 4f89, gear oscillating between 3rd and 4th and going into emergency mode.
    I bought and changed oil, filter, seals, clutches, bushings (I suspect the mechanic didn't change it) and finally a new mechatronics.
    Error 4f89 is gone. When driving at low speed in D it changes all gears normally, if you switch to manual mode it also changes all gears normally, but this lasts for a few kilometers, the clutch seems to slip, the rpm increases and it goes into emergency. After that, even in D it starts to go into emergency on small climbs or when I need to accelerate a little more.
    Today when this happens I have errors 4F8A, 4F85, 4F95, they never appear together. In one day I can have these 3 errors at different times whenever the transmission goes into emergency.

    Hi
    Thank you so much for the video. I hope you will upload more videos like this one. They are really informative. Also if it's possible upload a video explaining more the role of the bushings.
    Thank you again.

    1st gen seems to be more reliable with bushes, but hold lower torque. 2nd generation struggle from bushing issues. I took my pan off 2nd time at 92k miles and i have bushing metal particles there, so just question of how long it will last. Nice video though.

    My trans 2010 RR SC -- Stator shaft bushing went ovoid (E clutch)

    I’m in the US and I’ve got the trans disassembled from my 2008 550i 4.8L RWD. I THINK it’s a 6hp26 because that was the most common trans for the V8 cars besides the X5/X6. My E drum splines have that same notch in the center of them that yours appears to in the video. My E drum is burned up so badly that the steels are black and the clutches don’t exist, so I really want to replace the entire drum but I can’t seem to find that same E drum available with the notch in the splines. Is that critical to have the notch? Or can I use an E drum without the notch in the splines?? I really need to know this and nobody seems to be able to tell me anything definitive. Even local transmission shops.

    Hi, i have a 6hp19z on a 2008 740li F02, which throws a speed sensor error, invalid signal or short circuit to ground. My question is, will i be able to replace the speed sensor ? Is it the soldering model (gen A) or gen B and i must change the whole brown thing which attaches to the black box ? Thanks for any advice (this will be a DIY job)

    Do you work on the 5 speed ZF autos on the E46? It’s only done 82k but doesn’t feel right and makes a funny noise in 2nd a sort of metallic clicking grinding noise. Not sure if it’s normal. Also it hangs in 3rd

    Hi, can this code be thrown due to a faulty release valve? I believe this could also cause some slipping due to improper fluid pressure?

    I would be interested to get your thoughts on being stationery at lights with a zf8 speed. Best to put it into park / neutral or is it ok to just hold on the foot break

    • @rgaservicesnottingham
      @rgaservicesnottingham  4 года назад +1

      It's absolutely fine to hold the brake pedal at the light, the torque converter is fully disengaged at that point anyway whether you are in park, neutral or drive as you are stationary

    Is it possible to fit any upgrades to a e92 335d gearbox during a rebuilt or any option to retrofit a zf 8 speed from the f30 335d?

    • @rgaservicesnottingham
      @rgaservicesnottingham  4 года назад +1

      There are upgraded clutch packs available for these boxes, fitting an 8HP isn't really possible though done properly

    So low miles and already with problems, my car have 289k km, stage 2 375/720nm with 6hp26 and no problems, just change my mechatrinc seals and solenoid and is working super soft with any problem, i use xhp stage 3 too.

  • @razuddin

    How much would such a problem cost to rectify?

    • @rgaservicesnottingham
      @rgaservicesnottingham  4 года назад

      This particular one was £1300 at the time of recording, much cheaper then the full rebuilds most places seem to push

      @@rgaservicesnottingham does that include torque converter and valve body rebuild too?
