    It’s almost like people have been saying this front office sucks for years. 99% of the problems this team/franchise has can be traced back to an incompetent front office.

    • @phantomdancer3279
      @phantomdancer3279 28 дней назад +22

      one of the biggest problems this front office has had is the incredibly stupid roster construction...imagine not getting one 2 way wing in 3 years and stacking the team with 6foot guards that cant shoot? imagine have two paint domiant super stars in lebron and ad and surrounding them with rosters constructed from 1980s with incredibly terrible shooting. they had almost the perfect formula in 2020 and even lets say they messe dup and let it go, they had 4 years to fix it and go back to it and they never did. our rosters are always bottom in shooting or defense because of how many one way players we have had.

      Jim and Jeannie are very close in ineptitude. If the Lakers must stay in the Buss family, I wonder if the two young siblings should get more power, they seem more capable.
      The fact Rob still the GM after he dismantled that bubble roster and keeps failing is an indication Jeannie now wants to prioritize profits above winning. This won’t change until LeBron retires, hopefully next season.

      Good two way athletes are uncommon and expensive. They thought that they would get them with Taurean Prince, Max, Cam, Bazemore, Lonnie, Troy Brown, etc. Lakers have lowest trade assets so they wind with the vet minimum guys. They had them in Kcp, Caruso, even over the hill Danny Green

    • @cogyak324
      @cogyak324 28 дней назад +5

      Easy ?? Rob screwed that up, too... Rob gave up extra draft capital in that trade because he didn't fully understand the CBA... Mo Wagner was one of the additional players that got shipped out

    • @rogers6168
      @rogers6168 28 дней назад

      @@cogyak324 Are you sure Mo wasn't part of the Westbrook trade? He was a Wizard for a year or two before being a Magic player. Speaking of the Westbrook trade- I remember when it was made & a third team got involved. Pelinka realized he was getting hosed & had to ask for a few 2nd rd picks to even it out.

    • @rogers6168
      @rogers6168 28 дней назад +3

      The main reason LeBron came to Lakers was because of Magic. The only reason AD became a Laker is because Lebron wanted him & AD wanted to play with him. It seems anything good that has happened during the Pelinka era was because that player(s) basically fell into the lap of Lakers. Knecht is the perfect example.

    • @cogyak324
      @cogyak324 28 дней назад +1

      @rogers6168 when the Lakers traded for AD , the deal was supposed to be done. Lakers since acquiring LeBron (No Particular Order):
    1. Traded for AD (only happened because of LBJs influence) - W
    2. Lost Magic Johnson - L
    3.Gave Zubac away for free (TO THE CLIPPERS🤦🏽‍♂️) - L
    4. Lost Jay Huff - L
    5. Didn’t keep KCP - L
    6. Didn’t keep Malik Monk - L
    7. Didn’t keep Alex Caruso - L
    8. Didn’t Take advantage of LeBron’s Pay Cut proposal
    9. Hasn’t fired Rob Pelinka
    10. Overpaid Darvin Ham
    11. TRADED FOR RUSSELL WESTBROOK (after they just clamped him up and allowed him to shoot in the playoffs literally after the lakers eliminated them🤦🏽‍♂️) - Worst L in history, at least top 5
    I may of missed some but these are the most impactful moves that still send ripple effects down until this day that haunt the Lakers during the LeBron and AD era. The frustration comes from knowing that this team should have done way more with LBJ & AD, and with Bron presumably retiring at any moment or at most within the next 2-3 years, it’s heartbreaking knowing it may end without ever reaching its full potential. The front office is a large reason why Bron & AD have to constantly over exert themselves and cost them many winnable games. LBJ & AD era lakers should have at least 2-3 rings right now

      Magic did some good things, but in my opinion, Magic was hired just to be a "figurehead" to attract good free agent players. The reason I believe that is 1-Magic said he couldn't be head of basketball operations full time. Anyone knows that's not a job you can do part time and 2-Jeannie wouldn't let him fire Luke Walton with his abysmal record. That tells me he was just a figurehead.

Like for example, if the Wizards say, Gabe and one 1st for Jonas, would we still say yes? if the Nets, Jazz and etc say we want at least one 1st, then what? What if the nets want two 1st rd picks and the Wizards want one 1st? We only got two picks, do we give up the Wizards and give two picks to the Nets or the other way around and give one to the Wizards, give up the Nets and try to find a new deal with the other 1st rd picks? Every teams know the Lakers' situation.

    I definitely feel like regardless of how or for what reason, this is LeBron's final season with the Lakers. Also, in terms of top voters for front office, this difference is that it's no longer "three-star" league or whatever. Teams that are winning have home grown talent and one hell of a development plan. I mean, realistically speaking aside from Kobe, have we developed a true star in the last 20-30 years? The mentality has to change and the focus needs to be elsewhere. The team needs to evolve and learn how to develop because the old way of thinking isn't working anymore. If that were the case, Phoenix would have won a chip in it's current state.

      Our team is currently operating like it is still the 90’s/00’s/10’s era and the game has simply moved on to a more sustainable way. There are younger execs employing better medium to long term strategy to ensure sustainability. Lakers are stuck in the past with their hollow championship chase…Id love a more modern approach.

      As much as people hate DLO, him, Reeves and others are home grown, but LeBron "fans", Laker "fans" don't want that...hell even the FO, is shortsighted on how to build, so sadly the Lakers will be on a perpetual, creaking treadmill constantly "trying " to play for a championship that most folks know is NOT coming soon. When Jeanie buss took over she was pressured by the fans & the media to bring superstars & get a championship. She let them boys develop for 7+ yrs & everybody agreed they weren't going anywhere 😂. So she brought in Magic to help get superstars.

  • @anthonysnowden8993

    The FO moves after the Championship was the crux of the problem!! The Westbrook trade was the Death Kneel. Effectively replacing D12 and JaVale with undersized Trez and SuperSlow Gasol, and the six other moves killed the Lakers!!
    I argued then that getting rid of Kuz was a MAJOR MISTAKE because we had no one else on the team willing to do the dirty work AND we had no other SF/PF (you wanted to get rid of him regardless)!!
    The final nail was letting Caruso walk being frugal!! The complaint was that his $9M contract would effectively cost the Lakers $40M in penalties for repeat salary offenders.
    The other huge mistakes were letting Brook Lopez walk for nothing (Magic), trading Zubac for Messina (Magic), letting Hart go in the trade for AD (Rob), signing players from Miami (Nunn AND Vincent), and choosing THT over Caruso among other moves. It would have been even worse had Schroeder signed the 4/$84M contract and Klay signed the 4/$80M offer.
    The Lakers are close to the WORST FO in the NBA!! Jeanie trust incompetent people to run her team and has no idea what to do next. Rob is nothing than a used car salesman. He is completely INCOMPETENT as a GM!!

    Good video and perspective. The front office has been making some questionable moves even towards when Kobe was about to retire. I think it's unfair that many people blame Lebron for this situation. He's not the GM or owner. Does he have some power? Sure...So do most star players but an owner and GM can still say "No" to a player. The front office allowed a good amount of people walk without gaining any assets. Giving up assets on several occasions to a person off your roster is crazy.

    I think we're missing the point that given the Lakers history of success and the big market it is that people don't want to trade talented players to lead to a championship. Look back at trades like Shaq, Dwight, Davis, etc. On top of that the new era has more restrictions with cap space so the allure of playing for the Lakers isn't the same with an aging LeBron. I think the Lakers need to try and get a pick and roll partner for Davis that'll last after Bron retires.

    As a die hard laker fan, Rob Pelinka needs to be fired... What bugs me as a fan about this franchise is that they dont develop players that can become something or draft TALENT. Since Jerry West left the franchise, this team in terms of making roster choices has been atrocious. Magic drafted Lonzo over Tatum, he was able to convince bron to come to LA, but quit when things got difficult. Yes Pelinka was able to trade for AD, however that was the only good trade hes done since taking over the GM position. Since then hes made terrible hires in the shortest amount of time, if he was a GM of any other team he would of been fired a long time ago. This lakers roster as currently constructed wont even beat a team at your local YMCA, this is how bad pelinkas decision making has been the last two seasons. The only bright light about this season so far was selecting DK at 17 in the draft this summer. If the Lakers front office doesnt get it together and quick, theyre already becoming the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA.
