You probably get this question a lot, but... For a brand new eCommerce GAds account, with a budget of 2k/month, what campaigns would you suggest starting with? Just PMax and Brand? Or Standard Shopping and Dynamic RM?
You can check this video from them, they answer your question: ruclips.net/video/efKBAcLk5mE/видео.html They basically recommend a mix of different campaign with pmax, to help pmax to learn. Not sure if you should put all the campaigns they recommend considering your budget.. but maybe add 1 or 2 :-)
Why setting up a PMAX campaign like this without all the features instead of just setting up a normal shopping campaign with automatic bidding strategy? Would that not be the same or somehow easier and better ?
I guess they do that because Performance Max campaigns have priorities on shopping campaigns. Doing like this give the same priority as the other performance max campaign.
PMax will spend some of it's money on local ads (there's no way around it), but if your customers often find you on Google Maps then I would recommend setting up a dedicated Local Ads campaign to push a portion of your budget into those because you have no control or visibility into how much of the budget PMax spends on Local Ads....or even success metrics for those ads within PMax, I believe.

Yeah, we haven't found any success using PMax with Lead Gen companies except for the much larger companies (like $80k monthly ad spend, for example) who have already maxed out the more bottom-of-the-funnel activities. Making the products inactive in the asset group only campaign means it will go after TOFU activities & remarketing -- basically everything but shopping network since it doesn't have the ability to show shopping ads.
