    The Graveyard Shift (Les Pearson)
    Les Pearson worked at the Rising Sun Colliery in Wallsend, England, not far from the Bridge Folk Club. He wrote this in 1972 and it won that year’s Newcastle songwriting competition. The tune is ‘Rosin the Beau’

    * ‘Me bait and me bottle’ was ‘My food and my drink’
    * Marras are friends or workmates
    * The club was where most miners drank their beer
