he must have seen alot of POS disposals aka ise badger line. we had one of those and it couldn't even chew a lime. now we have the evolution exel and it eats better than we do🤣. been in the same house for 22 years never and clogs or backups
I always put at much FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) into the garbage can (versus the disposal) as possible. Cleaning those drains isn't difficult...frustrating at times, but not difficult.
Hey I have a quick question and google seems to not know what English is. My dishwashers drainhose is connected to my disposal, I don't have an air vent and its leaking. It has the screw tight clamp on there, but it's still leaking. How do I fix that? Thank you ahead of time.
SYNtechp92, the inlet on the garbage disposal where the dishwasher connects to it, is probably broken. You need to replace the garbage disposal. Or, the dishwasher hose is either rotted or split. Remove it and check. If it’s bad, cut out the bad area and reconnect.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber you wouldn't believe how badly the home owner set this up. I fixed it but, both hoses were kinked, dishwasher is a Hard wired to the wall, the cable is spliced to the dishwasher, the drain hose was under the washer kinked and almost flat, the garbage disposal was new but also had wires spliced, and to top it all off the knockout plug was still in there. I honestly expected higher quality work to be done here but hell, this is why I fix things myself hahaha! I appreciate the quick response! Thank you.
As a Plumber , I am not a big fan of garbage disposals. Homeowners throw practicly everything in them. I'm still amazed that they are approved for 1.5" discharge. The code in my state says that any solid waste that is used in the sanitary drainage system shall discharge into no less than 3". However, I know kitchen sink drain water is not considered "black water " so that maybe is how they get around it..
Wouldn’t that mean you’re not a fan of ignorant homeowners instead? Place the blame where it belongs. Also, if they weren’t ignorant, you’d be out of work.
Remember Brown Friday comming the day after Thanksgiving....the busiest day for plumbers with drain line stoppages. Homeowners watch what goes down the drains!!!
Hey Jim I want to remove and do away with my dishwasher and not replace it. What do I need to do with the water line feed to it as far as plugging it or what do you advise? Oh it's pex by the way in a mobile home!
Hello Sir , can i ask you a question about my water heater? I have been searching for an answer but the videos i've watched didn't say anything about this odd problem. My water heater makes a Tiktiktik noise every two minutes but its not just a noise it actually disrupts my other electric devices for a second. It even disrupts my electronic devices that are not connected to any electricity and performing with a battery. what is going on? can you please explain? have you ever came across such an odd problem?
@sixthirtytwo4325, first off, do you have an electric water heater? I would have an electrician make sure your electrical panel is ground properly. Otherwise, I don’t know why a water heater would be doing that.
No egg shells in disposal. I have seen the drain lines plug multiple times . In several instances the piping had to be cut out and replaced. The drain machine could not clear.
Repair work is a large part of my operation I love garbage disposals they’re easy to install it’s fast easy money and people always get them jammed with dried beans pennies dimes and all sorts of goodies I love the service call fee and repair fee so please continue to buy and have me install these items in your homes personally I do not have one nor will I ever have one

When I turn on the dishwasher initially, a terrible smell comes up from the garbage disposal. Do I need to change the plumbing down there? THANKS!
Change discharge tube of dishwasher

Great tips Jim.... I have my wife wiping grease out of the plates and pans every time now. Such good advice and well presented.

Egg shells?
Nobody can agree if I can put egg shells down the disposal.
@Gretchen K.
I live in a condominium

As I told my wife and daughter, if you've got to ask, don't.
Gas Pipe Jimmy, I’ve been putting eggshells down the disposal for years but a flush with a lot of water. Never had any trouble.
Thanks for sharing Jim great information, for those reasons I don’t own one and never will. And yes Jim my Garbage Man is my go to guy for advice 😂
What’s there not to like about The Grumpy Plumber…always great, straight forward tips!
Just another thing to break down and I have had enough of the basics breaking down (they like to take turns).
I’ve been a service plumber for years and I sound just like your father 😂
Hey Jim - Great job!! Happy Thanksgiving!! Thumbs up. Get your flu shot.
