Whistleblower suit accuses Caris Healthcare of fraud linked to hospice care

BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) - In a federal whistleblower lawsuit filed on behalf of a former nurse, the United States is accusing an area hospice company of using its patients to take millions of dollars from the government.
According to a 2014 federal complaint, unsealed last month, Caris Healthcare is accused of a "systematic, long-lived, and continuing fraud, perpetuated through the Medicare and Medicaid programs." The complaint accuses the company of admitting and recertifying patients who weren't eligible for
