If they bring the “waxy idol” back in future seasons I hope they use scented wax. Watching a castaway try to sneakily free their idol, only for them to then act clueless as to why the camp suddenly smells like rosemary & lavender would be television gold
Sabiyah was thinking way too far ahead. Talking about Kaleb being hard to beat in the final when you can use him as a shield now. And risking your vote at a 4 person tribal council is crazy to me.
I don’t blame her for pulling this move, I just think she messed up by wanting to vote Kaleb out, instead of having the 3 stay against Emily and vote her out.
I don’t blame her. It was a smart move on paper, but she miscalculated JUST how close Emily and Kaleb are. The move to tell Kaleb that she will tell Emily to target him was smart. Because when Emily DID go up to Kaleb to tell him Sabiyah is targeting him, he could have dismissed it. I think Sabiyah girlbossed too close to the sun
It was a good idea but it ultimately fell flat for two reasons. 1) Sabiyah should’ve known Emily was not to be trusted. She hadn’t built up that rapport with Emily to rely on her for a move like this. 2) She got too cute with banking her vote for an idol. If you know the vote is tenuous then you should know to just burn the idol to make sure your vote is at least in the jar and it goes your way. Even if Sabiyah doesn’t negate votes here (f.e. if Emily and Kaleb decide to put their votes on Sean) then at least she’s safe from a rock draw in the case of a tie, which would force Emily to flip on Kaleb as she’d otherwise be the only person not immune if they’re deadlocked.
Voting kaleb was never a good idea especially since there’s no guarantee of a swap, kaleb is their best competitor so voting him out at this stage makes no sense. Telling Emily about her idol and making that whole scene at tribal council just completely sealed her fate
Have scaled back on extra content about Survivor but Fishbach is a must watch. 🎉 Also James was really great as a co-host yesterday, wish he gets a chance to come back.
After Caleb was evacuated in Koah Rong I believe that’s the turning point when they told them just to drink the well water. I know the Brains tribe in 28 boiled their water so they were pretty dehydrated
If Dee and Julie keep the hammer and find the idol, does Austin lose his vote forever? I mean technically it says no vote until HE finds the idol right? Not that he loses his vote until the idol is found (by anyone).
I believe the beware advantage expires at merge so presumably he’d be able to vote then. At least the 41 & 42 beware advantages just became idols if they weren’t activated before the merge.
I’m glad they got rid of the slide shows. It felt like it brought the show to a grinding halt. It was more organic in MvG, for example when situations got Adam, Michaela, and Jay talked about their mothers. The slide shows felt contrived. ETA: whoops, they brought the slide shows back after I made this comment, but at least there are fewer and they’re less jarring. We’re seeing more actual gameplay.
It doesn't even matter whether he believed her. Voting Sabiyah is always the best choice. Voting Emily gives a couple options 1. Emily is wrong and goes home 2. Emily is right and he goes home Voting Sabiyah gives these options 1. 2-2 tie where he can turn around and vote emily 2. 2-2 tie where he can't vote again (Emily would be telling the truth in this scenario). This way Emily and Sean either have to agree or go to rocka. 3. This one he didn't know about. 2-1 vote with Sabiyah going home.
This is my thought on the situation. The three other Lulu's know she now has an idol. If they keep her that means if they were to go back to tribal, which would be likely if you got rid of the strongest player on the tribe, she would be able to decide the vote by herself the next vote. Putting your game up to a 50/50 doesn't sound like a great idea.
I get that she thought she had the numbers but when it’s a 1 in 4 shot you’re going home and everyone knows you have an idol (which is also only good for this tribal) you might as well use it. Again, I know how easy it looks from home but that was a dumb move.
It's just a matter of time with 'em constantly pickin' the same islands, I wanna see somebody find a clue production forgot from the last season or two. 😹😹 and, what happened with the additional vote from, was it Katurah, but from the first tribal.. was that a first tribal only advantage for the winnin' tribe?
How do you explain a random hammer that just materializes in camp?? Seems like having a hammer would be an advantage unto itself, for opening coconuts and such. (Also what’s up with the mosquitoes waiting until October to hatch?? I’d only seen 3 all summer and now it’s swarming with them.)
I think J Maya might be our mergatory boot here. She’s getting a similar edit to Josh last season so maybe here at the swap she’ll have a short little storylibe before getting sniped out of the game. I don’t think she’ll be out in the next two or so episodes, I think we would’ve seen more of her if she’s getting the boot so soon. This season they’ve been really good with giving everyone decent screentime, all three boots so far were prominent in the show before and during their boot episode, so I feel like the fact we haven’t seen J Maya much is a good sign for her prospects in the short term.
Is it known already that the swap is going to be 5-5-5? I thought that they were going to go into 7-7 and 1 person going somewhere for an advantage or whatever
I was going to say “If my car won’t start I’m gonna call in, not walk” but the more I think on it, I feel making a fire with no flint would paint a huge target on your back. We see people intentionally fumble making fire for F4 strategy purposes
personally, I think taking like 20 minutes making fire with sticks wouldnt make people fear you can make fire with flint in 3 minutes. haha@@solomonrivers5639
honestly, I haven't in like 2 decades, so child me might be remembering it as something easier than it actually was. And it was with an expert showing it, so i never actually tried it without an expert there. haha. @@ea-ee5ow
From a production standpoint, this has been the best season of the new era by far. Stephen and Rob were fumbling around with whether or not this was the best episode of the new era, and Rob brought up several episodes that would be ahead of this episode. I think the difference is that this cast, overall, isn't as strong as it seems. On the surface, it looks like an amazing cast....but in reality I think that's because they are getting more airtime than we have seen in the past. Take that away, and honestly it's a mediocre cast with a few outliers (Kaleb, Emily, Drew, Austin, etc). Regardless, I'm enjoying the season, and maybe the swap and interactions among the new tribes will make this cast rise to the surface.

Been doing the exact same thing, Know It Alls will always be a must have
I’m so grateful Stephen makes time for this podcast! I look forward to his insights every week.
Fishbach is back yay!!
You got your wish bach for fishbach
Great to have Stephen back 🛎️
I’m so happy everyone is loving this season as much as I am. It’s so rare that (almost) everyone enjoys a season together
Feel like with each episode my survivor experience is not complete until I hear what these know it alls have to say 😂
To me, Survivor feels like Survivor again.
Fishbach's chuckle is so endearing 😁😁😁7:35
After Caleb was evacuated in Koah Rong I believe that’s the turning point when they told them just to drink the well water. I know the Brains tribe in 28 boiled their water so they were pretty dehydrated
That’s so funny Rob that was a perfect “SINCE WHEN”
Bad move from Sabiyah, Caleb was a shield for her. Caleb couldn't make it to the end without people looking at him especially in the new era
If Dee and Julie keep the hammer and find the idol, does Austin lose his vote forever? I mean technically it says no vote until HE finds the idol right? Not that he loses his vote until the idol is found (by anyone).
Good question! At first I thought they were gonna try to find it, not just give him the hammer
😶

Exactly
If someone found the rope and hammer b4 Austin and found the idol, what would have happened to Austin's vote?

Really good point!
Definitely best pre-merge episode of the new era for suuuuurrreee

Stephen Fish- BACK!

I wanna see a random shot of Sandra's statue.☹️😏
Kendra and I think maybe cause Hannah basically self-eliminated it ended up flopping so they might’ve just scrapped the whole thing
Sabiyah girlbossed too close to the sun

Could Caleb have taken flint from the other tribe on the raid instead of fishing gear?

yeah its gonna be 3 tribes, they showed on the survivor fantasy draft website.
insane tribal insane gameplay insane episode big up kaleb tho
Sabiyah wore a Sean solesurvivor shirt???Was that a spoiler??
Rob you need the faith of a mustard seed in regards to your pessimistic Cerie predictions!
Oh god
I don't understand why people dont make a fire without flint.
