  • This week on The Horti-Culturalists we're beginning a four part series based in the wonderful Royal Melbourne Botanic Gardens. We'll be looking at the garden's history, plants in it we particularly like, plants that are in the garden that should be more widely available and a look at their New Caledonian conifer collection. But in this episode we were very lucky to be able to spend some time with Director and CEO Tim Entwisle to talk all things botanic gardens; their future, their relevance, their maintenance, and in the process discover his favourite parts of the garden. The botanic garden in Melbourne is considered one of the top five in the world through both it's collection and it's design so join us as we find Tim's favourite place, and share ours. It's a wonderful place and should you ever find yourself in Melbourne, WELL worth a visit! You might remember we visited the Royal Botanic Garden in Cranbourne which is home to the native plant collection and you can see that video here: • Australian native spec...
And you can plan your visit here: www.rbg.vic.gov.au/
The plants we mention in this video are:
    Gardenia thunbergia
    Rhododendron viriosum
    Quercus lobata
    Quercus rysophylla
    Eucalyptus deglupta

Quite a whistlestop tour of rather lovely botanical garden. You could possibly have done a couple of videos of this and perhaps return for more in another season.
