Awesome lesson! Just a summary: 1. How did you sleep? (0:32) 2. Have you seen my ---? (1:17) 3. Are you running late? (2:01) 4. When do you think you'll be home? (2:43) 5. Hey, how's it going? (3:17) 6. Can you give me a hand with ---? (4:07) 7. Do you have a minute? (4:51) 8. How's your day going? (5:29) 9. How was your day? (6:00) 10. What time are you going to bed? (6:52) 11. Did you set the alarm? (7:21)
What's amazing and unique about Bob's lessons and content in general is that he's not teaching us "some" English, like academic, ielts whatever, but the real English that is used by native speakers every day. That is super helpful for me as I try to sound and speak as close to native level as I can. That's why I recommend this channel to all my students and friends. 🤝
“Mountain climbers rope themselves together to prevent the sensible ones from going home” Bob, I do appreciate what you do for the people around the world who keep struggling to overcome the complexity of English language... You have a nice way with words. Your pronunciation is extremely understandable. You explanation of complicated things by simple examples makes the process of learning English looks easy. With all your practice and experience, knowing by yourself what it takes to learn a foreign language, you understand what we need and what directions we should follow to banish shyness, break the ice and start to derive pleasure from the progress we make... We still feel lost, most of the time, yet we believe that as long as the compass needle points north, we will reach the promised land, no matter how long it might take...Thank you for sharing your knowledge and magic with us. From Russia with Respect.
When l was a school student, all English teachers forced students to answer "l'm fine, and you?" when teachers asked us "How are you?" But, isn't it wired? Some of them might be tired or under the weather. And we also learned "where's my car key?" not " Have you ever seen my car key?" just like you mentioned. Everyday phases are very useful coz we can memorize them quickly. Thanks 😄
You are one of my top ten best English teachers. I don't have words to appreciate the way you work and think for a great video. It is not only English, your videos include family values, cultural behavior, humor, etiquette ...etc. After watching one of your videos I stopped translating words from my mother tongue while talking and writing.
Hey Mr. Bob! So far, my day has been busy I almost forgot about your video. I hope it’s not too late to leave a comment. 😢 You really know the ins and outs of your language! Now that you mention the difference between “Have you seen my phone?” and “Where is my phone?”, it’s clear that the 1st one is more polite. The 2nd question sort of assumes that the person has taken your phone and you want them to give it back! Thanks so much for opening my eyes. You do know that for the last couple of years I’ve been trying so hard to focus on these nuances that make my speech more polite. I really can count on you! I appreciate how knowledgeable and polite you are! ❤️🌻
You've completely understood the nuance here. One certainly is very direct and almost accusatory. The other is much more polite. Another way to ask politely to to ask yourself, in a voice that others can hear, "Where have I put my phone?" 😎⏰🚜
Hi Bob!!! I like that you teach us everyday vocabulary. The same questions I hear and ask in my daily life in Spanish. I'll try to do them but in English.
I saw Bob featured in an "English with Lucy" segment, I was so charmed by his smile I thought I'd check out his channel, glad I did, this segment is brilliant, a very nuanced explanation of everyday phrases most English speakers don't even think about.
I thank to the youtube for joining me with job the canadian who is my teacher across the countries..though many teachers in india you are such a great inspiration to me to learn english
Sometimes i tend to sit up all night, especially playing videogames on my computer or when i need to get down to practicing or reading sth that i havent been able to get round to. Thanks for every lesson you upload.
Amazing lesson very useful and applicable. it's not just a theory lesson, but it shows how the situation actually goes, and how to respond in real life situations
Hi, Bob! Thank you for your awesome videos. I would like to add one more everyday question, which I can hear from my family members, when we have breakfast: What kind of tea do you want- green or black?
Thank you Bob, that's a really interesting lesson! I'm from Brazil and we have some expressions that are exactly the same, but in Portuguese: "Can you give me a hand with..." and "Do you have a minute?". Nice! I have a question: is there any of these questions that's most common in Canada than in other English speaking countries? Have a nice day!
Hi Bob, many thanks of your useful videos and good points that you notice at them all the time . I have a question : I didn't understand what does the meaning of " hasn't handed ", would you please explain it more ? Thank you.
hello bob el canadience, i'm juailin and i'm from the dominican republic, i really like your english lessons and i always learn a little more english, i hope to travel to canada one day, to have a cup of tea or coffee and also to talk with you a little, it would really be incredible, greetings from the Dominican Republic
I love your real life English. Especially, some english teacher in yt say that common English is boring and it should be upgraded. Some Vietnamese ielts teacher when speaking English, they always use acedamic or super advanced vocab and phrases that I’ve never heard native English speaker say those words. I just love common English because it’s easy to learn and use and make English learner easy to understand
Hi Bob just wanna say thanks a lot for those beautiful videos that you made it on RUclips, When I used to watch your videos You did have about 8k or 9k maybe because of my college I dedicated my time for studying and I didn’t have enough time for your precious videos, finally I wanna say congratulations you deserve better 👏
Wow teacher Bob! lt's so awesome for your 10+1 common English questions especially the number 1 because l never do it so l will do it at tomorrow morning. Thank you so much.
Thanks for your teaching. To be honest, I don't know the polite way to ask someone if he/she sees my phone , books, cup....etc. Before watching this video, I asked "Where is my keys?"
It's a nice way to ask it. Even at work, if you lost your jacket or something, it's polite to ask, "Has anyone seen my jacket?" So much nicer than, "Where's my jacket?"! 😎⏰🚜
