We are definitely blessed with mostly easy access to so many amazing trails! If you do ever make it down, be sure to let us know so we can take you through some of these places!
@@TheBadIdeaBros we’ve got some fun rides and great beach riding way up north for sure. You guys win out for overall scenery though. Those mountains always look magic.
Looks awesome guys. Plan on ticking this one off over the summer break. We're moving to Dunedin so riding our bikes down from Wellington and taking the scenic route down :).
That'll be an awesome ride! You should look at doing the Molesworth as an alternative to tarmac out of Blenheim. You could also link up the Rainbow if you really wanted a go of it. Would be happy to offer some suggestions if you want/need. Just flick us a message on the Facebook page. 😁
Great footage guys and what a light show at that time of day, although you might have cut it a bit fine from a gopro point of view. You wouldn't believe it, but right now I'm in the middle of editing the same ride I did March this year. Brendan the Otematata Hotelier came with me on his 890R and it rained until we got 10km from Haldane Road, then started again not long after starting the Black Forest Road. And was the only wet day out of the 20 days Mike and I were down the Sth Island. People don't want to watch a wet low cloud ride when there's scenery like that to behold. No doubt about it 3 bikes is the ideal number in my book especially when there are 2 gopros going most of the time. Hope to meet you on the trail.
Sounds like you guys had an adventure! We normally get stuck with wet weather no matter where we are riding, so this was a pleasant change! 😆 The light was phenomenal, also just luck to be honest, as we just film what we ride and whatever happens, happens. Be good to see your experience on this trail, would also be good to see you out there sometime! Ride safe bro! ✌🏻
Ground clearance, sharp fist sized rocks, and the scree crossing with your unprotected belly would be the main worries. Traction is mostly ok. It's also a toll road requiring a phone call too. You've been playing on gravel a little bit recently so with care and plenty of time it could probably be done but do the Hakataramea first and see how that goes. Brent would also love it on what ever ADV bike he's on now.
@@transalpernz Thanks yes, The belly could only take so many belts before disaster, (had one already) Must do the Haka, got the Moles on the planner... just feel sad missing on all these great spots without an off road machine :)
Love it! Did you ride the day before closing to location or was it an early morning start from Chch? The light at the first view point is beautiful! Cheers from BC, Canada
We did this and Brothers over one big day from Christchurch. There were some gravel roads in between linking these two together, but I didn't bother including too much of those sections as seeing us hurtling along on a transitional gravel road isn't the most thrilling viewing. 😆
Not gonna lie, I’m seriously jealous of the scenery and tracks you guys have access to down on adventure island.

Is the north island not as good Matt? Started listening to your podcast and seems you have heaps of fun tracks too isn't?
I believe the North also has plenty of good riding, but I have no basis for comparison as I've unfortunately nit gotten there yet..

@OnThrottle, any ride is a good ride! We do hope to find our way to the North eventually to see what's on offer. 😁
Black Forest road a beautiful ride. Nice vid
Thank you Mike, always great to hear that people are enjoying our content! Black Forest is definitely an awesome ride, the views speak for themselves!

Sounds to me like an ADV bike may be needed in your near future.. Christmas isn't all that far away.. 😉

@@TheBadIdeaBros ;-) ahaha yes indeed, gravel fun is hard to show in video. That's one big ADV day right there!
We tend to find ourselves doing big days most rides, just comes with the territory I guess. 😆
@@TheBadIdeaBros I bet! So much to see, can't wait!
Make sure to let us know when you're in our neck of the woods and we will try to organise a ride or two with you!
