Nicely worded review. I think WOW is trying to change static play (subs, Dutch cruisers, and air strikes etc). I played a game 2 days ago with a Gneisenau and died early. All-both sides ships were hiding behind rock facing each other. It was like watching paint dry. I agree I don't want to play a shore battery.
Static BBs is why I only play BBs at T7, as you have to stay on the go or you will get overmatched and eat massive damage, and fires are just rarely such a issue because, again you are not sitting still as a bit tasty pinata to shoot at. Think T8 BBs should get 27mm noses or something, hell maybe 30mm just to make overmatch more of a issue, and let them get full 32 or 32mm nose and 35mm center at TX
Pushing in a battleship is much more difficult than in a dd or a cruiser. You get spotted, you get HE spammed and titled to death, the end. The lack of defensive tools and the overwhelming number of offensive tools is the reason why battleships don't push, not until the DDs are dead atleast.
I push Regularly in My Odin, and Agir. 6 km German Hydro, + both ships are SuperCruisers, although 1 is in BB tag. xD Reached Gold League with them. I can't do what they do in a Bismarck or G.K tho. The Smaller Profile helps a lot.
I really want this ship but she hasn't been available. Kijkduin and Eendracht were a tough grind, but I love the Haarlem and Johan de Witt. I think the Heal makes a huge difference for the Dutch botes, and this should be a much improved Eendracht . . . knock on wood this one comes available soon 🙏.
I like the idea of having something that can affect the stagnant battleship play. I'm not a fan of BB play myself because I like that more aggressive playstyle. I'm hoping when subs come out they will be able to force battleships out of camping in the back alone.
To be honoust sharnhorst i use mostly as a cruiser rather than a BB . and with that tier 10 cruiser you actualy get a battle cruiser /cruiser killer . that has the speed and manouverability of a cruiser but armour and guns of battle ships.
She wasent scrapped she served in the dutch nay untill 1975 and then got sold to peru where she served untill 1999 she is now a museum ship. she was the last artilery cruiser of the world still in service
So it has 12 planes in one run, each dropping 8 bombs. If each bombs has 5800 damage, it has potential damage of 556,800 in one run. Not counting when you stack them on top of one another
Spread out over a large area. Not focused like a torpedo broadside from cruisers that carry those. Just reciting a potential damage number means little if you're never gonna do even close to that number under any circumstances, not gonna dev strike anyone with this.
@@fnglert apparently from several videos on youtube we can actually see that the bombs spread tightly enough to at least take big chunk of BBs health. Sure not gonna devstrike but you gonna set his ass on fire
@@fnglert a torpedo broadside is not something you get every play session. most of the time it's just 1 or 2 hits with occasional flooding. plus you can counter it with hydro if you have one. but when you're holding a corner and these planes popping up 6 km from your ships, yep better start praying

Oh boy , wait till the tromp class cruisers come to the game. they likely will end up in the destroyer line, ehm those are well lets say the dutch knew how to pack firepower in to verry small hulls , These would be flotila leaders but with 6 150mm bofors with heavy dutch shells , 1.3 kilos heavier than the british , they did have torpedos. and they did have a ton of aa. for example 8 hazemeyer stabalized bofors radar guided. 4x 75mm AA guns. 6 torpedo tubes all pakt in a 130 meter hull . De zeven provincien class actualy was retired in 2017 de zeven provincien in 2000 and de Ruyter (Bap almirante grau ) in 2017. De eendracht class one tier lower is the 1939 design before the battleship plans of 1913 there where a couple of verry heavy armourd and armed cruisers. not fast but extremly powerfull . with Jacob van heemskerk and zeven provincien 1909 ships . just 100 meters long the first having 2x 240 mm guns 6x 150mm guns 8 75 mm guns 3 torpedo tubes and 8 inch of armour belt coning tower and turrets 50 mm deck armour. De zeven provincien a little bit heavier . 2x 283 guns , 4 x 150mm turrets. 10x 75mm guns and 150mm armour belt 200 mm coning tower . 220 mm turret armour. and barbets. And 1930s there was a plan to build a modern version of these ships . a 28 knot 150mm armoured belt and 9 x 240mm canons. not to be confused with the tier 9 dutch cruisers
I am Dutch. Would love a good Dutch ship. Mainz has the same rate of fire as ZP, but half again the number of guns. It's ridiculous. Mainz has 4 sets of torps as well. The damage output of this ship is laughable.
Out of her main battery, sure. The more I look at it, the more I think that getting the most out of the air strikes is going to be key. Some of that is learning how to use them, and a little bit of it is seeking opportunities to use them.
@@SeaRaptor Oh I think the Airstrike can be very powerful, but since you can use it once every 60 seconds (I'm assuming Adrenaline Rush affects it too) it will not be effective in actual fighting. It has a great heal, but in one-on-one's it needs to be very defensive.

Not really. The solid mid-range aura means that planes will die, but it's the flak bursts that wipe out squadrons. The so-so flak means you can probably land strikes, but you'll pay for them.

@@fnglert A fair point. British BBs are particularly known for stripping AA guns off of ships (to the point there are ships that I run the AA survivability module in Slot 1).
@@SeaRaptor I did a test to see how often I get attacked by planes. In 20 games I was attacked 3 times. Not sure if AA is worth specking into of i get shot at so little.

With Ise now in game island hiding is already changing, those 4 torpedo planes just pound them with 8 torps and they due hurt if standing stil

Same. I like the idea, the trick is to get the execution right so that it serves this purpose without being stupidly punitive.

Assuming you you can hit. It takes a long time for the planes to arive.

The dutch cruisers tier 5 6 and 7 all had torpedoes in reality and dual 40mm before not single mounts and tier 6 had 10 150 mm not 8
Bismarck and Hood also had torpedoes IRL
