When I was a kid we hung out with Alan Jackson all weekend at the Missouri State Fair. It was a year before he got real famous back in 1991. He played in a bud tent. My dad told him don't worry Alan, you're gonna make it. And my dad was right. Alan was very down to earth and one of the nicest guys you could meet.

I’m 43, been married 25 years and have two wonderful sons. My wife and I are waiting to meet our first grandchild in April. I’ve already had one massive heart attack in February of last year. It almost took me out. My bloodwork came back not so good again and I was told that it’s mostly hereditary. I take 14 pills a day as preventative medications. I got more bad news today and I’m scared to death. All I can do is cry. I just want to meet my grandson and hold him. The way it looks, getting very much older isn’t much of an option for me. Please pray for me and my family. Pray for peace in my heart and that the stress of worrying about this will go away. I always wanted to be an old grandpa watching my grand babies running around. I don’t want them to only know me in pictures and memories. I just pray that I wake up each day and make it the best day possible. Spend as much time with my family as I can. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

I lost my dad last year to cancer, but one thing he was careful to teach me and my siblings was to be thankful for what you have, set a positive example for others, and pay it forward. This song made me think of those lessons, thank you.
I lost my dad and this is belong me he through it. I heard it, and do every day, at just the right time. It's like my Uncle Alan is like an Angel on Earth. Love it
"The older I get, the longer I pray. I don't know why, I guess that I got more to say". The most beautiful line I've heard in a long time. For me it captures the essence of what it means to get older. Love it.
Life truly teaches us alot, I grew up on a small impoverished island in Uganda, but I as a young man, I had big dreams, as I grow older am 37 years now. This song becomes my anthem, thank you Allan Jackson.
The older I get, the more thankful I am. For my wife of 36 years, both of my daughters, my son, 8 granddaughters, 1 grandson and a soon to be great granddaughter. For some reason this song has hit me hard and has brought back so many memories of good times past! Keep putting out this king of music Mr. Jackson!
Alan that was an amazing Song the older I get. And your right I loved those Lyrics if I found a fountain of youth !! I would not taste a drop. My name is Shane I'm 52 years old. I have been married and Raised 2 Beautiful Boys in to young adult Men now. Thank you for this inspirational song.
I was born only 6 days before Alan and what he’s saying is so true! Life’s blessings are family, friends and the wisdom we gain from God’s provision. I’m blessed beyond measure and I am so thankful!
@Alan Jackson Been a fan about 12 years. I didn't like country music until my husband and I joined a band. We're The Backroom Band in Mobile, AL. He's 81 and has been practicing this one to try it with our band. We play at nursing homes, cancer/diabetes/walks. We like to play music and spend some time spreading our joy with others who don't get out much. I'm a contry music fan now. I play keyboard, sing Patsy Cline, Adele and more. I love this song. It's so true. We've been married 41 years, getting to those older years.
@@williamcortner4814 It went perfectly well, more than what I had expected... everyone enjoyed the song, indeed it's a great song. And May your Father Continue to live a long and healthy life 😁

This song speaks so much to real people who've been through that dark path and found their way out of it. All I can say is you're a great man with a great talent.
After the Covid pandemic, i love this song so much, and think about it every night: "the older i get, the more thankful i feel, for the life i had and the life i living still"
The first time I heard this song I was holding my first baby, She was only a few months old. A daughter. Now she is next to me, asks if she can listen to this Alan Jackson song with me (almost 4 now)
That’s just a wonderful story! These children are our future, and you sound like a wonderful mother!! Thanks kindly for sharing!! Very touching!!! Respectfully, Laz
I want thsi song played when i decide to get baptized , i want to be a free bird and renewed.. i lost my spiritual connection with god but i found it again last night as i prayed before bed amd cried outloud to god to help me help me find him again, give me signs and i woke up this morning and felt so much better, my negative suicide thoughts were gone and i felt god again . Back in the year 2000, I bought my first computer for college. Inside, the seller forgot a CD with music, it was Alan Jackson's music, since then I have not stopped listening and enjoying it. A great artist. Greetings from Argentina.
He has always been my favorite country singer and he has such a beautiful wife and daughters. So sorry about the loss of your son-in-law he was being a gentleman and he laid down his life for another and the Bible says there is no greater deed. God bless you and yours. Today is my 75th birthday and I remember when and I can’t believe I’m so old, where did my life go.
Sir, I just turned about 70, & this song brought tears to this old fart’s eyes. I only hope we’ll have enough time to turn this nation around for our grandchildren? God bless you Sir & Thank you for tearing up this old codger!
Every time country music plays, especially Alan Jackson’s "The Older I Get" lose myself. Suddenly, I’m no longer an East African guy. Instead, I become a cowboy from Texas, riding across open plains, feeling the wind against my face, and living for the simple things. There’s something about those melodies that transport me to a world where the soul finds peace in the quiet moments. ❤
This song fits into my life so much.....every time I play it I sing and cry through the whole song........but it humbles me and makes me stronger....I lived through a traumatic divorce of a 32 year marriage.... GOD is not through with me yet....BLESSINGS to you and your BEAUTIFUL family!!
Alan Jackson his songs mean so much to me! I am older, but I would not trade a day to be young again! I have earned every grey hair hair and wrinkle! I loved my life! God be with you all!
Ma'am Alan Jackson in my opinion is one of the best I've ever heard come across the radio. I remember going to the hunting camp with daddy when i was a boy early in the morning and hearing "Chasing that neon rainbow" my dad was killed few years later in a freak accident. Im now 39 years old and to this day when i hear that song it puts me back in that seat beside him headed up 17 to Needham, Al. I wish i could change a few things about my life.. Life for me has been less than spectacular as since dads accident im scared to love in fear of loss. Scared to death of the horrific just unexplainable world of hurt thats possible in case of unexpected loss of life or relationship. Your comment caught my attention for sure. Hope you have a blessed day to come
@@alanjackson5086 It's nice to know that people of your stature take the time to read and reply to comments made by folks like us ( the regular people)
There is a lot of truth in that song. Brings tears to my eyes. My parents and grandparents are all gone. All this crap I’ve accumulated over the years I’d sell it all to have them back for one more week. Wished I’d learned that earlier. So beautifully said. Thank you Alan.

This song is so true in saying the things of life as we get older. I am 71 now and married to my lovely wife of now 50 years. She is my right arm of which I could never live without. I love my kids and grandchildren more than all the money in the world. My health is not that good but I thank God for every minute he gives me. Life goes by so fast - don't take anything for granted. Thanks Alan for sharing your God given talent and writing such beautiful heart loving songs. The older I get the more I love. God bless.
I'm 47 and feel exactly the same. You said it the way I'd like to say it now and 20 years later. We'll all know each other one each so I say love you friend
I LOVE this song (thanks Alan Jackson). It epitomises how I really feel right now ... I am now older than both my late grandmothers and I feel truly blessed to be a "senior citizen"'. As I venture into my 73rd year on this earth I thank God for blessing me with old age ...
Your business will make you rich but your investment will make you wealthy. We all deserve to be rich and have financial freedom. I pray everyone reading this becomes extremely successful.
If you don't understand the words to this song as you age, you'll never understand life. Especially, when you all hit near 80 years of age. May you all live long prosperous and healthy lives, with much love and peace.
What neurological disease? I didn't know! I had a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2012 and it took 9 brain surgeries to fix it. It's hereditary in my family. I was clinically dead for 6 minutes and was resuscitated and spent time in a coma on life support. I will never take a single second of my life for granted ever again. 12 years later I'm blessed to still be here. I was only 48 when I had the brain hemmorage and I'll be 60 next month. And I'm thankful! Not everyone has the chance to get old so cherish every moment you get. I consider this the greatest blessing of my life because it's what made me believe in God!! So blessed!!!!❤🙏✝️
This is one of the greatest country songs, by one of the worlds greatest country singers. Perfectly done Mr Jackson. keep releasing these meditative and inspirational songs, they've really taught me a lot. LOVE AND BLESSINGS.
Tomorrow is Alan Jackson's birthday, he's going to be 63 and still just as amazing as he was when he started his career in 1989. Hopefully everyone to reads this will wish him a Happy Birthday
Sitting alone, lights off, and letting sad country songs speak to my mood. It feels like I have a companion who understands every aspect of suffering and hope.
Almost 68, I relate to this song, straight to the heart. Life is a road you've never been on, an never know what's around the next bend. It's been a hoot, I wouldn't change anything, not even the bad.
I know what you mean! First husband went to Vietnam, married at 16! He came home a different person! We split, met a new man together over 22 years! Got sick! Lost him in 2016! I have my family and Granddaughter, I will be alright! God be with you and yours!
If I listened real good to this in my younger years it wouldnt have the meaning it has to me today. The years flying by, people change, family means nothing to them. They burned their bridges. I continue to pray for them because God has the power to save them. Wake up. He gave me the strength to walk away from it because it can make a person sick. God sees it all people.
i am broke to but i am happy i am on disability . he is right . without the bad , we could never appreciate the good . thank you lord Jesus Christ . i have a granboy and another on the way !!! when i put up i am broke to , i meant to say i was kidding !!!!!! but i am hahahaha
I was listening to this song when I was on my knees, crying for my mom’s health. I was devastated because she has cancer and wasn’t doing well at all. God talked to me through this praise, and when I opened the Bible, it was Psalms 27. God confirmed that we should just wait on Him. We still need a miracle, but now we have faith and praise while we wait! My mom is a woman who follows our Lord’s words, and I ask you to pray for her health as well. Her name is Maria Juracy and she has a serious Lymphoma.
_#Lyrics__#_ The older I get The more I think You only get a minute, better live while you're in it 'Cause it's gone in a blink And the older I get The truer it is It's the people you love, not the money and stuff That makes you rich And if they found a fountain of youth I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet The older I get The fewer friends I have But you don't need a lot when the ones that you got Have always got your back And the older I get The better I am At knowing when to give And when to just not give a damn And if they found a fountain of youth I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet The older I get And I don't mind all the lines From all the times I've laughed and cried Souvenirs and little signs of the life I've lived The older I get The longer I pray I don't know why, I guess that I've Got more to say And the older I get The more thankful I feel For the life I've had and all the life I'm living still
I’m 40 and the song really hits home for me. Life is short don’t take it for granted and hug and tell your loved ones just how much you love them tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
Dad passed in 2021, grandpa passed in 2022.. everyone in my family is getting older now. This song really hits me hard. Man I miss them. Life is definitely short
This is my new favorite Alan Jackson song!! I've been an Alan Jackson fan from the start - but, maybe because I just turned 52 years old and it hits the nail on the head. Thank you Alan - for some of the best lyrics in the business over the years - and, for always being true to yourself, your family, your beliefs and country music.. True Country. True Stories.
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there are some pain I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people.
I absolutely adore Alan Jackson. He is my idol and have loved him since I could listen to music back in 1993 (was born in '93). I have never seen him in concert, but this is my dream. I cannot even express in words what it would mean to me to be able to see him. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to see him when he will be coming to Boots and Hearts in 2018. He has taught me many valuable lessons, he has been there when I loved and when I lost, he has helped me through the good times and the bad. You could almost say he was apart of our family, always will be. All I can say is thank you Alan! Xo

The older I get the more I realize how fast time truly does fly. Even though I’m only 23 about to be 24. I remember walking to school, enlisting in the Marine Corps and going to MEPS. Serving my time honorably. Fastest 4 years. But the best 4 years of my life and left the best ever lasting impression on me. The friends I made, the work I done, and the uniform I have hanging up in my closet for my future kids to see. My Veterans plate I have just everything. Happy birthday
I lost my dad last year to cancer, but one thing he was careful to teach me and my siblings was to be thankful for what you have, set a positive example for others, and pay it forward.
This song made me think of those lessons, thank you.
Iam Chris. Mhsrp. Dad left you with a great gift. To be thankful... A great virtue indeed.
AMEN!
stand up dad!!!👍💯
I lost my dad and this is belong me he through it. I heard it, and do every day, at just the right time. It's like my Uncle Alan is like an Angel on Earth. Love it

Hi
I was born only 6 days before Alan and what he’s saying is so true! Life’s blessings are family, friends and the wisdom we gain from God’s provision. I’m blessed beyond measure and I am so thankful!
That's very true 👍🏿
@Alan Jackson Been a fan about 12 years. I didn't like country music until my husband and I joined a band. We're The Backroom Band in Mobile, AL. He's 81 and has been practicing this one to try it with our band. We play at nursing homes, cancer/diabetes/walks. We like to play music and spend some time spreading our joy with others who don't get out much. I'm a contry music fan now. I play keyboard, sing Patsy Cline, Adele and more. I love this song. It's so true. We've been married 41 years, getting to those older years.
I’m 68 and it was just yesterday I was playing in the dirt in the back yard, wishing this day wouldn’t end.
I wish🙁

Every time country music plays, especially Alan Jackson’s "The Older I Get" lose myself. Suddenly, I’m no longer an East African guy. Instead, I become a cowboy from Texas, riding across open plains, feeling the wind against my face, and living for the simple things. There’s something about those melodies that transport me to a world where the soul finds peace in the quiet moments. ❤
The older I get, the more thankful I am. For my wife of 36 years, my 2 sons, my darling daughter and my sweet adorable granddaughter.

Hi dear. It's nice to meet you here. I hope you're having an amazing day ahead?

Hello there, how're you doing??

Beautiful daughter! I hope you saw all of God’s grace and hold on to the beautiful memories!
This song reminds me of my life. At 41 I met this woman who's 48 now I know what my old man meant. Sometimes it's one of those don't give damn!
That's true... Ruffs you love this music so well

Thank you Alan for your devotion to God and Country Music.

Hello Lorraine how are you doing?
_#Lyrics__#_
The older I get
The more I think
You only get a minute, better live while you're in it
'Cause it's gone in a blink
And the older I get
The truer it is
It's the people you love, not the money and stuff
That makes you rich
And if they found a fountain of youth
I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth
Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet
The older I get
The fewer friends I have
But you don't need a lot when the ones that you got
Have always got your back
And the older I get
The better I am
At knowing when to give
And when to just not give a damn
And if they found a fountain of youth
I wouldn't drink a drop and that's the truth
Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet
The older I get
And I don't mind all the lines
From all the times I've laughed and cried
Souvenirs and little signs of the life I've lived
The older I get
The longer I pray
I don't know why, I guess that I've
Got more to say
And the older I get
The more thankful I feel
For the life I've had and all the life I'm living still
🙂👍😗

I cannot even express in words what it would mean to me to be able to see him. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to see him when he will be coming to Boots and Hearts in 2018. The older I get the more I appreciate the depth and wisdom of Alan Jackson in his music and his life.
This song hit my sentiments exactly as to what life all about. Straight ahead ✝️
And the older I get
The more thankful I feel
For the life I've had, and all the life I'm living still…
Hi
The older I get the more I think about how I lived my life.
I wish I would have given more than I took. I hope I helped the people I could, enough. I know now at 66, that possessions mean absolutely nothing. It's the love that you spread that means everything!
