This guy is spot on. I replaced the flame sensor , cleaned the burners, changed the filters which worked a couple of years ago when my trane xb would not stay lit. Just beware if u have a nest thermostat with a low internal battery, if u still can’t get it to stay lit, pull the thermostat off the wall and charge it up for an hour or so - - after that it was good to go.
I don't trust a lot of service people, either. When my tankless water heater went out, I had a plumber charge me $200 to check it and then tell me I needed to buy a new one. He said the brand I had was not good and suggested a better brand for $6K. I went online and ended up replacing the igniter and sensor for about $42. It's still working well about a year and a half later.
I had a similar issue with a tankless water heater. I was told it was too expensive to fix. I decided that I'd try to fix it and it just needed some welding on a tube. Done
@@riderescueyeah, it’s amazing how much money we can save by just trying a little. I had a neighbor who had zero tools in his garage and my wife thought his garage looked so nice. But, he always had a repair truck in front of his house because he didn’t try to fix anything.
@@tomcopeland6424 Yep, I've seen those clean garages. My garage is stocked with things that I have collected over the years. Almost to the point of hoarding but when something breaks I have a way to try to fix it and most times for no cost. Just a couple days ago I fixed my microwave with stuff I had in the garage. Saved me hundreds of dollars. My wife has a love to hate my garage. She loves when I fix things from stored garage stuff though. 😃
The capacitors on the Train XR95 are located one is attached to the inducer frame the other is attached to the blower frame.. Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks for the video. I have the same feeling about repair shops. Being widowed makes me reluctant to make any type calls for any normal maintenance for my furnace and possibly being taken for parts I don't need. 🤨❤️👍💰
Great video. I have Trane as well and had to figure things out first time around -- love your comments. One quick word of advice - if you try bluetooth headset - mic will be much closer and your sound will be louder and clearer at all times during making of videos. Thanks again Sir!. Hope this helps lot of others
Overall, a more thorough explanation than the professionals I've watched. Didn't hear you mention the panel switch but maybe I missed it. I plan to buy and igniter and flame sensor to have on hand. Cheap insurance. In a pinch, you can manually light the burner when the valve opens to heat the house, but it will shut off when it reaches the set temp, and have to be lit again. In really cold weather, that's better than no heat.
Thank you Sir ! My furnace did the same thing blowing cold air, with a Normal Code light. . it was freezing so we called a service tech . . he came in looked at the unit. . with his flashlight . . talked to his boss.. somehow deduced that I had a bad inducer motor . . well I watched inducer motor failures and to me it appeared my inducer motor was fine turning well with no noise and I didn't have an error on the light for that problem.. so as I was thinking as to what else it could be. . I noticed a strange piece of what appeared to be plastic. . i found your video and after further investigation found out the igniter was broken... I ordered one on Amazon for $20 - installed and cleaned that sensor. . like you said .. and poof I was up and running.. the Service Tech wanted to sell mom a new furnace for $4,500 and said that an inducer motor was $1,800 ... so we saved some HUGE $$ Thank you.. AMAZON got ours here NEXT DAY ! whew ! Thank you again !
That is awesome. Your story is why I do these videos. Some techs hate me but if all techs were honest my video wouldn't get watched. Thanks for the comment and congratulations on a huge savings.
You got lucky and you did get it right but you need to know the order of operation befor you change out anything most heaters work the same way. This is from
@@riderescue No problem, you can have a look at my videos I have hundreds...Takes time to get it right. A tripod would be helpful in doing these and if you are using your phone, they have a nice bracket you can get that will also hold a small light and even a mic. Amazon has them. I now shoot with my iPhone you will see some of my latest videos shot with the phone.
I replaces my old 25 year old furnace and since installing a new trane xr95 is a piece of shit.. it shut down 6 times inside of the two years I have had it.. I do not want to fix it every two days. TRANE FURNACES ARE SHIT
Exactly correct Trane furnaces are the worse pieces of garbage ever made. Everyone of them blows the 3 flashes pressure switch problem and even if you take the hose off the pressure switch it still throws the same pressure switch problem. These furnaces are so bad they should be free but I still wouldn't want a free one.

Excellent tip about the Nest thermostat. Cheers!

That is a great tip to hand light to get by till the parts are rounded up. Thanks!
Your post solved my problem and saved me $$$. Thanks
That is great. Cheers!
God bless you!!! You saved me so much money!! Thank you thank you 💓😊
I'm so glad!
@@riderescue I ordered the parts on amazon so hopefully that will be okay ;)
Nice job! Have a great day. Thank you.

Can u please tell me how to do a yearly maintenance thanks
I usually place a co2 detector on or near the unit (furnace, stove or water heater) to check for gas leaks...
That is a great idea.
CO not CO2
good catch :)
Good job..!
What was that parts stores name?
Do you please know where are the two capacitors on a Train furnace located?. Thanking you in advance for your reply.
Nate
Sorry, I don't know where those are located.
2 capacitors ? Usually is only one for the furnace motor and two for the ac one for the condenser compressor and one for the ac motor fan
Where is the thermofuse on this model?

A technician
I paid $20 for an online ignitor, including shipping! I mainly see just your back when you replace the ignitor.
The AC capacitor is inside the AC fan chassis . .it looks like a coke can ..careful as you have to short it before replacement
What part was 96 dollars ?
JEEZ MAN! Is there anything you CAN'T DO?
Let me think, hmmm... I can't do carpet. Thank you for the comment.
if power is getting to the igniter and the igniter is good wouldn't you see it glow? OH YEA AND DON'T CALL A.B MAY FOR HVAC SERVICE.
Not always. Could be a poor connection or poor ground. Thanks for watching.
Turn your volume up please
Sorry about that. This was one of my first videos and I wasn't very good with editing software.
We keep seeing your back blocking what you are doing.
Yah, sorry, this was one of my first videos and I was not very good and filming. I'm getting better...
