Great review. I've been having a ton of fun with this droid. Next year I hope Spin Master makes a BB-9E as a rival to this. Most definitely the Star Wars collectible to pick up this year.

Got this BB 8 on black friday for my 3 yrs son for this Christmas 2018 present. This will bright him up.
AMAZING especially considering with that discount, this is not much more than the Sphero BB-8 and this BB-8 is so much bigger, has many more features and comes with its own remote. Again, thanks for the review. Always nice to see reviews from fellow fans.

Hold down the button on the remote for 3 seconds and he will turn around so you don't have to do the forwards backwards thing to get him facing in the opposite direction.
Might wanna mention the follow me mode does require an open space (It works fine, it just does run into things from time to time. he has no sensors to prevent it.)

Whoah! $243.80 after taxes? I got mine for $50+ tax on Black Friday last year. Love him. Got the big r2d2 one like him and the interactive Yoda that does everything. They all are fun at the same time.

Picked it up for $150 on Amazon. Important note, make sure head is oriented in the proper direction, or control will be horrible. And head does attach when bb-8 is turned off.

Thanks man! Of the two big RC toys I reviewed recently, I had a lot more fun with this one over the Batmobile. Having a physical controller was a huge part of that, I think.
I got it at Target last week for 25$ clearance repackaged. Works fine and is a ton of fun me and my kitten enjoy it a lot :)

Gamestop your headquarters for Star Wars collectibles? Would you say that if they didn't send this to you? Gamestop stores don't usually carry alot of toys. Toys R Us, Target, Walmart and others have a much better selection of Star Wars merch.

Can bb-8 go on carpet?
Yes. He can even go outside, just be careful of bumps. The magnets aren't the strongest and his head tends to pop off.

Yeah, I think it will. It seems to have a lot of power behind it. I might be concerned about gravel scratching it up if use excessively, though. But it does also seem to be a tough toy, so it may not be so bad. :-)

Does anyone know if you need remote to work for voice commands? The remote I got doesn’t even turn on and bb8 won’t work, it blinks system error. Trying to figure out to fix for my son
You will need the remote for the voice commands to work yes. Depending on when you bought it and where you bought it from the battery inside is more than likely shot. I have two of these, the battery inside, although replaceable with a lot of effort, only lasts a certain amount of time. It needs to be charged at least once every three months, otherwise it just dies completely.
I wish there's a way to put it on one hand, then i can cosplay as poe.
