This is a great car. I’ve been restoring several VW’s during my life and I am 66 years old. Original rear bumper, generator, door handles, etc. To much to mention. The only detail that I found was the the 12 volts stickers at the pillar post are missing. The guy who is describing the car really knows what he is talking about. 67’s are unique. Who ever buy this car is getting a jewel.
Truly stunning 67 there. I've purchased a numbers matching/1 owner (prior to me) all original 67 with patina after owner passed away in 91. Sitting in Southern California for those years with windows cracked allowed rain to set in pans that I had to repair. Rebuilt the engine, spent many hours on the electrical, replaced fuel, and brake lines, etc. "Rejuvenated" her back to being a great running and safe vehicle again, leaving the natural patina. This one here is absolutely stunning. Congratulations on your car. Something different between mine and yours, knowing mine is unmolested and original are the radio knobs. I've got the 'fake chrome" trim and knobs on the AM radio. (September 66)
Notice the solid sound of the door closing at the beginning of the video? I drove a '67 Beetle in my college years, and as beat-up as that car got in its 10 years, the doors were always solid and great with securely closing.
Nice neighbor lady took her son and me to the vacant local college huge parking lot and gave us a turn at driving. It was that era vw and I was maybe 14 and my 1st experience driving a clutch in 1966 😁
Not a fan of ‘67 Beetles....BUT, I loved the content, editing and overall presentation. As a loyal subscriber, I must say...you’ve raised the bar with this one. Congrats and keep up the good work.
Very nice. Not one year only but here are some first and last. First year, headlights, 12V, push button engine deck lid, and last year for overriders (US, European never had them), front turn signals, taillights, and steering wheel, low back seats?. Backup lights continued on the Type 2, until '72-'73, though body mounted. I believe all four fender were one year only as well as the windshield and rear window dimensions, and the vent window handle went from the push button hook to the round black rubber knobs, aprons had the H stamped. Things noted missing; 12V sticker on fan shroud, shifting pattern on ashtray and elastic pockets on the door panel. Still minor things on an awesome restored back to original bug. Well done indeed. Worth mentioning that the pop up windows were an option but could be dealer installed, or DIY as the frame was predrilled. I had that B&HVW mag too. Long gone, but glad to see the bug endures.
Drove mine fifteen years and had 155,000 on odometer. Biggest problem was rust under the back seat where the battery leaked over the years and made holes in the floor. Took me a while to figure out why I was getting water intrusion. Mechanic moved the battery to the opposite side and told me to buy a marine battery box to prevent future problems. Replaced clutch for the first time in 1982 then traded for a Jetta. I miss my bug.
hi jason that is a beautful 67 beetle i have a1966 beetle with a steel sunroof also have a 67 1500 in zenith blue the sixties beetles are the most desirable they are very sought after now love your videos
I was a bit confused about the headlamps, but then I realized that these headlamps were installed in the US market a year earlier than in Europe. Nice clean car 👍.
The Video looks great Jason! Thanks! My goal with this restoration was to recreate what a '67 Beetle would look like brand new sitting in a dealer showroom.
My year Volkswagen is 1974 Super Beetle, with or with out sunroof. Prefer stock VW rather than any customizing. Have to say though, this 1967 VW Beetle is very nice. Cafeteria lady had same with out sunroof. She upgraded to a 1972 Super Beetle in medium blue and gray interior. My affinity to Beetles started in 7th grade. Look out the window of art class and there was that blue 1967 Beetle. First vehicle was a 1961 Beetle in light green. Second was a 1972 Super Beetle in Sumatra green with tan interior. At some point, that 1974 Super Beetle is out there for me ...
Question is, on that cold January day, did the hot air ducks worked properly enough ? See, my older brother had a 300$ '63 in '71. Riding shotgun, I always had the pleasure of scraping the frost on the interior of the winshield on our way for skiing in minus 15° C temps. We roller painted the car in Mopar Crazy Orange with black, reversed wheels. It looked hot and mean. But, man, a car with no heating is a torture ! 😱 In 1972, we tried to install a salvaged gas powered heater in it. Got more black fumes than heat. That was it. On a weekend trip, the engine died. He traded it at a Datsun dealer and came out with 1 Y.O. Datsun 510. With HEAT. His girlfriend, now his wife, would'nt sit in a Beetle for the rest of her life !
The issue I had with the heater in my '67 Beetle was carbon monoxide [CO], which had me keeping the heater turned off unless it was dire, such as windshield icing. Luckily it was infrequent, as California winters are mild. From what I figured, there was a leak with the heat exchanger. I discovered the CO problem one cold day when I quickly developed a headache and felt slightly nauseous. I turned off the heater and opened up the window, and took deep breaths. From then on, for long trips in winter weather, it was bundling up with garments, double layers of everything, including socks.
Wish mine was a sunroof car! Also the engine cover lid, door is a one year only. It’s got a little hump on it that is unique to the 67. Mine has been in the shape it’s in now since new. Been painted once.
First car was a 65 my Dad bought new. Drove it all through high school in the mid 70's . Would give my left *&^$ to find it and restore back to new. Great video !
You were fortunate to have had that VW when the US was going through gasoline rationing and tremendous price spikes for fuel at that time. I lucked out myself during that same time during my college years.
Awesome beetle. Love the color as well, so clean and looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Hey man I uploaded that overview video on my beetle. Glad to see your channel is doing great btw!! Cheers
If I had that bug , I would most likely never drive it, I would build a sun room and just put it in there to look at! There is a fine line to drive or just show, that is just a show car.. :)
Yeah I had a 67 with a 69 engine in it. Sadly it had electrical problems around 96 and has been sitting since. Assuming she hasn’t rusted to dust maybe I can get her running again.
Great looking car. Nice example of a 67. With what appears to be a lot of thought put into many of the details like the engine one-offs and putting the correct late model year over riders on the rear, I'm surprised that the builder wasn't able to find original German front fenders for it. Only a small detail, and only those that know the 67s would be able to tell.
Hi Dan , glad you liked it . Yes , I have always been doing the repop key thing until I met Jody at Transporter fest . His prices are VERY reasonable as well .

Gorgous!!! Actually extra holes in the cooling tin for the air breather snorkle was also on the 70....ask me how I know... : ) I rescued my 70' from a junkyard....Also the 67 used pressure air from the spare tire for the windshield washer.....WAS the 67 the first bug with a collapsible steering column?
No, 67 still had a solid column, '68 was the first year of the collapsible column. I'm putting a collapsible in my car just for that extra bit of safety.
The '67 Beetle I had, in powder blue, the window washer was not connected to the spare tire, as the fluid reservoir had to be pressurized with an air pump.
Awesome volkswagen Beetle, however what has me thinking are the headlights, cweren*t they sealed beams, cause those headlights look like what a 1970 + would have, also which is very rare to get even today, these 2 items, an under the dash bamboo tray, & the plastic flower vase those would even complement that 1967 even more, maybe even a 1967 owners manual ,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Wow. Very nice. I never knew pop open rear windows were an option in North America. How was the heat on a 15 F day? Was there a gas heater or booster or just the air box exchangers?
Hi, yeah , I was already pretty frozen by the time we started shooting as we toured all my project cars in the yard for over hour . Stock heat set up .
@@5150mxVW Lucky for you the stock heat setup hadn't deteriorated like mine did, which resulted with carbon monoxide poisoning; which I detected before suffering dire consequences. I was fortunate that living in California the winters were mild; but it required bundling up in cool weather.

Didn't the Beetle have sloping headlights in '67? From the 'before' pic at 9:53 it sure looks like it had those if that's an original wing. Beautiful car, looks like it rolled off the assembly line yesterday!
Hi, no 67 was the 1st year of that style & yes it really is THAT nice ! Thank you for the comment....& at 9:53 your right , must of swapped the org fenders at some point , good eye !
@@5150mxVW Thank YOU for producing such great videos for our entertainment! And thanks for explaining, maybe there's a difference between German and Mexican Beetles re the headlights... or I've had the wrong info all this time! :P Looking forward to more uploads, please keep doing what you're doing. :)
@@vintagevwsalesandkeyservices Hmmm, still not 100% convinced. It's certainly clear that the wings on the finished car are aftermarket, judging by the location of the horn grilles. 1967 was an odd year for lots of VWs though right? I imagine there are are many 1-year-only parts, and that the beetle could have had sloping OR vertical headlights in that same year?
hello newer sub to you & most of your other V.W friends. I'm watching Barrett Jackson & they are going to sell a 1979 superbee 459 miles with the 1600 4 cyl 4sp kept it in garage & he has a yellow one also guy also owns a yellow one same thing but the colour. sold for a low price tag of $39,000
Like to know something, Jason. How tough is it to drive these classic Volkswagens uphill in New England? My dad used to talk about how the Beetle always strained going up and essentially had to coast going down.
the 1200's ya gotta really rev out and won't pull 4th up the big hills ....the 1500's and the 1600's are 10-20 more HP are a huge difference ....don't coast down hills, go 70 mph so ya make it up the next one :)
From my recollections with the '67 Beetle I had, second and third gears got a workout when going uphills, with max speed of around 45 mph in third gear.
@@Shred_The_Weapon I'll do one better: The 45 mph in third gear was done on a state highway at a 6 percent grade; with the engine at full throttle. I looked up the specs of that stretch of roadway just now: California Highway 152, Pacheco Pass, elevation at around 1,300 feet. Tried as I did many times with building up to top speed before hitting that highway grade, to make that grade in 4th gear, it just couldn't be done. Goes to show a marvelous aspect with the info that can be got on the 'Web with that highway info. Postscript: A couple of years ago I hit that same highway grade in a late-model sedan with 300+ HP . . . it felt great doing it at 75 mph. 😁
What a beautiful little car. My friend Eric runs a website called 1967beetle.com/ they have a lot of great information on the one year only features of these great cars!
It has a few one year only parts , 1st year of 12 volt , last year for the old dash , bumpers and tail lights . 68 got bigger tail lights , thick bumpers , plastic dash parts , high back seats to name a few . Some People don’t like the 67 style headlights / fenders that carried thru 79 , most Prefer the pre 66 style .
@@kathyoneill3980 Congratulations on the 75 Bug ! That did not take you long :) . Too bad on the motor but but you will get that rebuilt or swapped . Good luck with it , keep me posted 👍
Hi , No , that typically happens with the 68 and later models with the side fill door . The rubber connector to tank with age becomes porous allowing those fumes thru and on thru the dash into the cabin .....replace the hose and all good
With the '67 Beetle I had, the only times gasoline smell was an issue was when topping off the tank. When I drove home from college and wanted to make it on a tankful, I'd filled it to the brim, which temporarily created a gasoline smell for a half-hour of driving.
I love the videos but like I said instead of having a bunch of junk ones why not have only a couple in mint perfect original,,, but then again maybe if you did then you wouldn’t want to risk driving them!!!!

It's certainly clear that the wings on the finished car are aftermarket, judging by the location of the horn grilles. 1967 was an odd year for lots of VWs though right? I imagine there are are many 1-year-only parts, and that the beetle could have had sloping OR vertical headlights in that same year?
@@JackFeelsNerves I had a '67 Beetle and the headlamps on this blue one are legit.
hello newer sub to you & most of your other V.W friends.
I'm watching Barrett Jackson & they are going to sell a 1979 superbee 459 miles with the 1600 4 cyl 4sp kept it in garage & he has a yellow one also guy also owns a yellow one same thing but the colour. sold for
a low price tag of $39,000
thank you Joe
The UK 1967 beetles had sloping headlights which always confused me
thank you for the info , I never knew that
My. God
Thanks for the specifics, 5150mxVW.
From my recollections with the '67 Beetle I had, second and third gears got a workout when going uphills, with max speed of around 45 mph in third gear.
Thanks for the specifics, @@bloqk16.
😁
Amazing Job .... I'm looking for a custom console for my 68 and ideas for me
What a beautiful little car. My friend Eric runs a website called 1967beetle.com/ they have a lot of great information on the one year only features of these great cars!
Is this a 1600, 13000 or a 1200 ? Ive heard that the 1967 was(repudiately) to be the best year..
USA 67’s came with a 1500 producing 53hp and were 12 volt .
It has a few one year only parts , 1st year of 12 volt , last year for the old dash , bumpers and tail lights . 68 got bigger tail lights , thick bumpers , plastic dash parts , high back seats to name a few . Some
People don’t like the 67 style headlights / fenders that carried thru 79 , most
Prefer the pre 66 style .
I have a video showing my 66 vs 67 on my channel
It's the little changes over the years you gotta know, at first glance ,they all the same...but no.....lol
1959 my project...
My year of birth!
I can’t decide whether to get one of these or a Mitsubishi Lancer
Both

@@kathyoneill3980 Congratulations on the 75 Bug ! That did not take you long :) . Too bad on the motor but but you will get that rebuilt or swapped . Good luck with it , keep me posted 👍
I'm guessing the answer is NO, but was there any gasoline smell in the cabin?
Hi , No , that typically happens with the 68 and later models with the side fill door . The rubber connector to tank with age becomes porous allowing those fumes thru and on thru the dash into the cabin .....replace the hose and all good
With the '67 Beetle I had, the only times gasoline smell was an issue was when topping off the tank. When I drove home from college and wanted to make it on a tankful, I'd filled it to the brim, which temporarily created a gasoline smell for a half-hour of driving.
What color is that? Do you have the paint code?
Vw Blue, L633
I love the videos but like I said instead of having a bunch of junk ones why not have only a couple in mint perfect original,,, but then again maybe if you did then you wouldn’t want to risk driving them!!!!
thank you Mike , this car is so nice I was afraid to sit in it with my dirty jeans and clunky boots ....
What size is the engine?
