Sorry I haven't told you how much I appreciate your videos. I usually watch RUclips videos on my television, which doesn't have an option to comment. Your "Shoot Like A Boss' videos are so informative and I feel inspired after watching! Keep up the great work.

I have been going through your videos lately, and I am surprised you don't have many more subscribers. The quality is excellent, it's very informative and therefore I would have thought your channel is loved by more people!

Thanks Tim. I don't promote it. So it's slowly getting found.

Shoot Film Like a Boss I just started working in the darkroom for my college classes and I fell in love with the hands on process. I will defiantly let you know when I eventually get around to making a few videos about experience with film and the darkroom.

Great video Roger, simple but effective... especiallly like your use of mount card as an easel..I am currently assembling a darkroom and couldn't believe the price of a decent easel.... especially as I gave one away a few years back thinking that my darkroom days were over....DOH!

    Nice one.
I have a suggestion for a small improvement if i may. I was doing it the same way and struggling with getting the cutout nicely centered in the dark.
But then i realized i can shift it to one corner say bottom left, expose the frame -top and right frame done- then shift the cutout up to the top right corner against the mat window edge and expose the bottom and left edges. This way one can just move it against two edges so it is always perfectly aligned.
The edges will be double wide this way of course, so if you like you'd need to make the cutout larger (cut less off from it). Like, if you want to have a 2mm black frame all around, don't cut off 2mm on all four edges from the mat cutout but do it only on two edges.
One more thing, I don't mess around removing and then reinserting the neg carrier, i just flip the normal room lights on for a second or two. But thats because my enlargers carrier placement is less reproducible.
    Nice set of videos, thanks!

    excellent. Thank you.
I'd like to find a way to gain flexibility of different size prints that are not standard or consistent sizes.
I could imagine a metal base board, and a top that has magnets above the material and paper. The magnets could apply gentle pressure. Regardless of method, just don't want to scratch any print papers.

These prints are from MF negs right? Can you talk about setting up your enlarger to print from MF versus printing from 35mm. Lens focal length, carriers, condenser size etc? Im looking to move to MF printing and Im curious about all that stuff. Love your work. Very inspirational.

    (Sorry for my bad English).
I'm sorry to say that I do not see the point of emulating the margins of a 6x6 frame or sheet film.
The original meaning of the black borders was to show that there was no re-framing of the photograph. Sample of having a good eye in composition at shot time. To do this, the edges of the negative-holder are filed to project beyond the frame boundary (even up to 35mm holes).

Why are you sorry? I don't care if you prefer to use a border to show the true framing of the original negative by filing the carrier. I like putting a black edge around my prints. Even though they are sometimes cropped. Like it or not. Some do, some don't. There are no rules. It's just down to personal choice.
