Here we go! This is round 2 of the 2023 Classic Sports Car Club's Tin Top series - from my local circuit, the Snetterton 300.
A fairly cold and windy day, qualifying was held in dry conditions with my finishing P8 overall and P1 in class.
Rain started to fall in the collection area ahead of the race but soon stopped. The race would would start in dry conditions but 2 heavy(ush) showers would hit the circuit midway through the 40 minutes causing all sorts of problems for the drivers on circuit.
The first 15 minutes of the race were some of the best I've ever drive. Battling Mick Dwane's blue Renault clio, swapping positions over numerous laps. He had the legs on me down the straights but I wouldn't let it go in the braking zones and corners! I eventually kept in front before the pit stops, but he would later retire with engine woes.
I would finish P4 overall after holding off the Field's red Proton in the wet conditions in the final 2 laps. Despite one brake lock up and skirmish at Wilson Hairpin in the rain, I was so pleased with my driving over the 40 minutes. Controlled aggression at all the right times and surviving the rain when it fell.
Onto Thruxton next, my favourite circuit on May 6th!
