For the fabric areas of the seats I can recommend to impregnate them. The best way is with impregnation for convertible tops. I have had good experience with Sonax. This also works well on the textile areas of the doors. That prevents the fabric parts from getting stains through rain and other things.
I'm sure my instrument display used to turn off with the other one when I hit start/stop a second time, now it's staying on, do you know what would have changed that?
I'm not sure if it also works when you activate climate control or not, but if you are sitting in the car and have preconditioning on and cooling the car, you can press the fan speed rocker switch on the side that says OFF. That immediately shuts off the A/C when preconditioning.
Amazon- Here's the link: amzn.to/3PKT9ee There are different colors available but black shows the least fingerprints in my opinion. If you have the self driving/steering system enabled (not available in the US), it won't work since the steering wheel sensor (blue strip) will be covered.
Yes, there is an option in bimmercode (in expert mode) to activate the menu selection in idrive - "3000 HMI, 98 DOOR_LOCK_AFTER_DRIVING_AWAY aktiv" that would allow you to toggle it on/off from the screen. I haven't tried this, so I can't say for sure it works. Also, there is an option already available in the settings menu for 'Unlock all doors at end of trip'. I would try that first. Let me know what works or doesn't work if you decide to try it! Thanks for watching.
Sorry, you're correct- it is on some Idrive vehicles but not the i3 after double checking. You may be able to "not lock" the doors automatically though. I got this off of the MyBMWI3 blog but haven't verified it- www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3770 " The only workaround I know of is "Disable Auto-Locking of Doors once begin driving" in HU_NBT or HU_ENTRYNAV - 3000 DOOR_LOCK_AFTER_DRIVING_AWAY set to aktiv - this adds a toggle in the doors section in the Settings menu on iDrive and will not lock the doors with speed. " Good luck!
Thanks for sharing! I always learn something new in your videos. This car have a lot of easter eggs! That's why I love the i3 too 😉
I learned some new things today; thanks as always for the sharing your findings!

Yep- that works. Thanks for the update!
Where'd you get your steering wheel cover?

Hi there, is there a way to disable automatic door lock at 5 km/h. I find it a pain to unlock the car after stopping to access eg the boot. Thanks

@@bmwi3diy782 cheers, mine is 14 rex and I don't seem to have that option in settings. I will check and let you know. Thanks again

@@bmwi3diy782 Ok. I've done it the way you described. It worked perfectly. After the mod the option appeared in the car menu. Thanks
You can turn off the comfort climate control by just pushing the fan speed/off button
You're right, that does work. Thanks for sharing the information!
@@bmwi3diy782also unchecking the box from the charge timer screen that was displayed will abort the climate settings at that time.
Impregnate the seats!? You really love your i3 😅
You never own this car. BMW owns the car and as long as you are in possession, BMW owns you.
