Danfoss BOCK® FK40 and FK50 | How to replace the shaft seal

In this animated video we demonstrate the process of replacing a shaft seal on the BOCK FK vehicle compressor.
The compressor shaft of the open type BOCK® FK vehicle compressor is sealed to the outside using a shaft seal. This seal works by sealing and lubricating with oil, which means a small oil leakage is normal and is collected in the oil reservoir. The sealing element rotates with the shaft, and it’s important to avoid heavy shocks and vibration to the shaft as well as continuous cyclic operation. Prolonged downtimes (e.g. winter) can cause the sealing surfaces to stick together, potentially damaging the seal. Therefore, it is recommended to operate the compressor every 4 weeks for 10 minutes.
Replacing the shaft seal is a quick and straightforward process when using the original BOCK® spare parts kit, which includes all necessary parts, a special centering tool, and assembly grease.
