The knap runs the length of the fabric, not selvedge to selvedge. If you brush upward towards the top of the fabric along the ridges, not across them, and then brush downward towards the bottom, also along the ridges, that is when you will feel the difference. It will sort of feel like if you pet a cat, head to tail, or tail to head. That direction makes their hair stand on end and the other way feels smooth. Its the same with the corduroy. It makes the little fuzzy parts stand on end one way and smooth the other way. I hope that makes sense. I got the other colour way. I didn't know it was corduroy at first. I had no idea what it was. I've never seen corduroy that had wales that wide before. But it is really pretty. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to make yet. I think a jacket would be quite nice though.
