Rode these things back in July 2001 and got to tour inside the dam...but my gosh I look back now and think I had my whole family on this thing my wife and 3 children they were 4,7 and 10 and they actually let my kids drive it on the lake
Thanks for sharing!! By far my favorite thing to do with my family in Branson. I look forward to it every year. My folks took me once or twice when I was a kid and I think I like it better now as an adult haha. I recommend it to anyone who vacations there, with or without children.
On March 22, 2018, my wife and three kids were on the boat that went down. The Table Rock Lake was such a mess that the Branson Belle ship could not go underway due to bad winds and heavy swells. BUT, the Duck Boats of Branson were fine?! I am ex-Navy and the amphibious switch from land to sea was as rough as hell. It felt like a boat landing on the Atlantic Ocean and a Cuban GITMO landing combined. This serious accident that occurred recently could have been us. It sobers you up quick seeing this deadly accident of late.
Boating rule #1, even on amphibious vehicle tour guides I think the rule should apply to. All children wearing life vests at all times while out on the water
Because of the idiot captain, the danger was not detected until very late. Passengers inquired about putting on life jackets when things got very rough, but he told them they wouldn't be needed.
Those things don’t look like they’re in good enough shape to be in such a big body of water. Especially the way the back door is open. Water can just pour in.
TheEvilFlyingToaster it didn't sink fast. Here is video of when it happened. Lots of time and no one is getting out. ruclips.net/video/k1dg-E0sW04/видео.html
Luke Walsh the crazy part is that one of these sank in 1999 and the ntsb wanted them to start using life jackets and take that canopy off... But the tour people lobbied against it.
jakrn01 nah, they were lobbied by the PVA. I know this for fact. www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20100723_Recalling_Arkansas_Duck-boat_tragedy_from_1999__and_the_NTSB_report.html
when i went on this it was so annoying all i heard BUZZZZZZZ and i saw 7 dead armodilos i wanna be on this boat :C i had a amazing time driving the boat tho and the hotels PERFECT
The ones in Branson the drivers are always the captains the guy that is standing up talking before they take off is giving instructions we rid the ducks every time we go up unless it's to cold.thats the life jackets right above them and I put them on my kids always we were on the ducks one time during a rain storm and the hard plastic curtain they roll down made me fill like we were trapped. I would still ride them today but they need to remove the ruff shove the life jackets under the sheets. They should have access to be able to pull off that lake just in case something like this happens lot of privet docks. There was another duck in the water close to them and they got back pretty close to the dock at Branson bell they were the ones thrown vest in the water while some of them were jumping in to help. See the vest see they were right at the paddle wheel all the year son drove one when he was two the captain started laughing as as another duck was passing us going the other way he yelled who is driving he stands my son up gets a stack of vest and let's my set on them you would thought it was Christmas.all the videos I have seen ever single person has said the sun was out it was hot. I hate it for all the family's I think something must have happened to the haul because the other duck didn't sink there designed to be able to take on water up to the window. The nose goes down and as the rear end hits the water the rest of the boat has recovered water comes in the front and floods out the back like a pontoon boat. One video I watched this girl 18or 19 she made it out but she said she Hurd the captain say o no we got a problem he couldn't get the duck to turn away and they got slammed flooded up to the windows and out to the back but it came back it didn't flow out back into the lake like it was so-posed.to as soon as all that water got back up to front they just sank.
like a catamaran, or more properly, a trimaran? the entire idea of the DUKW is a simple durable truck that happens to float, perfect for beach landings. Floats would break, and be heavy and expensive.
Such a drag what happened. They would be safer if it had emergency heavy duty inflatable tubes mounted to the outside in case the Dukw lost buoyancy. It would swamp and people might get wet but no one would drown. They wouldn't need inflation under normal circumstances.
They explaining sitting down and and they didn’t let the customer do it themselves just in case they have questions and he was going to fast making a joke out of safety NO JOKE
The safety flaw is in the air intake and exhaust. and probably a driver that can handle an emergency situation with panicking passengers. Ultimately the business owner and the licensing agency for approving the way the modifications were set up ....exhaust in the front! Really? Sure they go into the water .... but it's also a land vehicle as well. Well .... now you know the problem ... fix it. Snorkel on air intake and exhaust! And a manager that makes the call to the driver weather he goes out or not.
Terry Akuna They also need a new motor as the gmc 270 is shit, reserve boyuancy, a better bilge, no canopy, snorkel for the engine, and much much more.
The Ducks do not use the 270 engines. The ones in Branson have 427 Chevy big block truck engines and Allison transmissions. They probably do need a different intake and exhaust to prevent water from big waves from stalling the engine.
It is chilling to see a duck boat alongside the Branson Belle, from which the video was taken of the recent tragedy. The instructions on the life jackets were confusing, and mostly presented as though it were a joke. I was dumbfounded when I saw the captain allowing children on the tour to drive the boat. I'm betting this video will be shown to the jury in the civil lawsuits.
what kid with access to a boat hasn't operated it? the life preserver speech wasn't by the book verbatim, but did accomplish the idea. Here are preservers, here's how to put them on, here's how to secure it, and abandon ship command. As for lawsuits, it was a different captain. Perhaps the coast guard should require FAA regulation safety demonstrations, i wouldn't argue.
given the fact they were built in the 2000's, amazing they're outdated and unsafe! Quit arguing otherwise, they don't use the original WWII vehicles anymore, they use new models specifically made for them by GM
No way would not get on one of those things And the "captains" cheep talk and empty conversation would give me a headache Only the guy in the back seems to be entertaining his rambling
Eleanor Buckles That captain is pretty annoying. I think his constant banter is to keep anyone from asking questions, The rap that he was talking about had no interest to anyone but him.
I took this tour 8 years ago and was the most terrifying experience of my life!!!
Good to hear his entire family going back generations are heros
We just went there last week and he's the same guy that toured us and he is very nice. Very good service. I'd recommend it to everyone!
Very sad they looked like a lot of fun. But if there is a storm that day should be closed.
Shhh, common sense isn't allowed on youtube!!
Rode these things back in July 2001 and got to tour inside the dam...but my gosh I look back now and think I had my whole family on this thing my wife and 3 children they were 4,7 and 10 and they actually let my kids drive it on the lake
it's safe as long as there aren't 70 mph winds on the lake.
Thanks for sharing!! By far my favorite thing to do with my family in Branson. I look forward to it every year. My folks took me once or twice when I was a kid and I think I like it better now as an adult haha. I recommend it to anyone who vacations there, with or without children.
3 years later a duck capsizes in table rock
I think if these remain in operation they need to start enforcing all riders to wear life jackets before the vehicle enters the water.
Demonic states of fraud and Corruption.. they all have friends in high places... Trust me they do & they are all billionaires too.. Imagine that
All those instructions he gave for the life jackets??? No wonder they didnt make it. Try remembering all that in a storm !
Had the same captain on July 19, 2014. Ironically 4 years before the tragic accident.
Wow. Those life jackets are way to complicated if you’re in a life threatening situation.
I remember riding them it sucks about them shutting down due to the 2018 accident but at least it got replaced with another company
Just Plain SAD❗😢💔
Awesome ,, brought back some memories and it is definitely time to make more..lol
Welcome to virtual duck tours man
3 years later it capsizes
Tragic. Condolences to the families and the victims.
they already read and wrote the generic letter we always hear... they read em while smiling with glee
Me and my husband did this in 2009. I loved it. Really worth doing if you have the time. It was fun.
Lol in 2014 I'm went there now I'm going again

The boat should of not of been out there that day.....was there alot of kids on that boat???....RIP
Do you not have tv when they showed the picture that you took behind that life ring there’s like fifty babies
Just Imagen what those poor souls went through before and after it sank

i've been once there it was a lot of fun .
Abdul A same
Same man
Sad af that one of them was in the storm and lost so many people
Even if you have any Trains hold on them so they don't slide
Thanks for sharing!
those life vests instructions are complicated . not user friendly in an emergency
Well, Now we can't see where you turn on the duck boat headlights.
Been There And Did The Duck Tour
28:22 17 14 duck 14 entering table rock lake north of the Branson belle
Yeah duck captain information
Rest in peace to the July 19, 2018 victims
Love this ride
What a weird contraption..total deathtrap. The driver would drive me nuts, what an idiot.
I was super scared I cryed bc I did't not want to go on the duck and as soon as I got on it I was fine intil we wen't to those clifs
They also have them in Wisconsin Dells Wis
They are everywhere idiots and Morons gather

Shon C I think they have windows that can go down when it's raining
Well it looks like a seaworthy vessel.
I'm heartsick. Not wearing the life preservers? 20/20 hindsight, but still... Wishing the best for the families.
The boat likely tipped over too fast.

Well Flub a Duck.....Rode this same ride and swam in the same lake. Of course I'm White.
The Don why does being white have anything to do with it?
Cuz everyone knows while Blacks can jump they can not swim.
Anyone know if this was the driver/captain that was killed?
I hope not☹
No it wasn’t him, it was a black man named Bob Williams, 73 years old....so sad
@@jaimei2785 it the captains fault

it is very expensive to live in Branson?
why would you want too?
I needed to come here and remember how it was. :(
Virtual duck rides
I don't think this was the tour that the accident happened on.
vanessa Lawence it was posted 6 years ago
uh huh oh yes it was.. you feminists think ya know everything...
It was posted 6 years ago, but it is the same tour route that they would have been on
They need outriggers they can deploy electrically when on the water, be the most stable thing on the water.

By all the reports they had a driver for land and a Captain for water, but in this vid it’s just one guy doing both.
there used to be one, now there's two.
They kept having trouble so they moved to 2 people
