I always thought that the irony of this scene lies in the fact that Dr Cox learned from JD that it's okay to show some encouragement and helpful mentor like affection to your pupils when they do a good job. It's because JD did such a good job mellowing out Cox that he feels comfortable enough to pat Drew on the back to encourage him.
It is interesting to see Dr. Cox as a teacher vs. Dr. Cox as attending. Two very different roles one you are dealing with students the other you are dealing with actual doctors.
I'm suddenly very proud of myself for knowing where the structure is located and also that it used to be a hole. haha I flunked out of med school but I still know some things. haha
Side note, when the time comes for it to really matter, I'm very good at mixing up the words foramen and fossa. structurally I know which goes where, but also words.

It's the second series because it features a brand new cast and new residents. Yes, it's technically "season 9" but Season 8 ended when JD left Sacred Heart.

It's like when you're a bad dad, but an amazing grandfather
Yeah, but you just know Cox only patted Drew on the back because he knew that JD was standing there and it would drive him crazy.
I love the way Dr.Cox says: "Drew, save us please."
Aw, poor JD craving that fatherly affection even after all this time ^_^

And whatever you do, don't wait for that pat on the back because it will never come....
HEY!!! COME ON....
JD already got his pat on the back in S02E15 "HIS STORY" and a few more times if im not wrong. and he's still jealous.

Where did he say valley? I heard Foramen Ovale. I mean, I'm aware it also sounded like Foramen-o-valley, but nah, he said it right.

you do realize that this is series 9 not series 2
no. the original series had 8 seasons. this is a spinoff, hench why the title says 2nd series. there was no season 9.
