Parliament of South Africa - “To represent the people, and to ensure government by the people in fulfilling our constitutional functions of passing laws and overseeing executive action”. The Economic Freedom Fighters VERY unhappy about Rules Committee sitting same time as National Assembly. National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete has called a special meeting of the rules committee in the wake of the disruptions in Parliament. *****
The Constitution affords all South Africans the right to see and hear what happens in Parliament.
For the last 7 years and for the benefit of subscribers and the community “My Africa” search for sequences that are newsworthy, interesting, funny etc. From a, sometimes long and boring, Parliament sitting allowing the community the opportunity to choose which sequence they find interesting and want to watch.
As a result “My Africa” adds significant value to those effected by the exceptionally high cost of Data and Pay TV.
Also “My Africa” allows the community to comment and contribute to discussions in a meaningful manner and take stories forward.
However, we will NOT condone the following:
- Racism (including offensive comments based on ethnicity and nationality)
- Sexism
- Homophobia
- Religious intolerance
- Cyber bullying
- Hate speech
- Derogatory language
- Comments inciting violence.
We strive to make the RUclips community a safe and welcoming space for all.

The EFF is on point. You can't have two sessions running at the same time. The ANC is out of line.
According to the Standing Rules, specifically Rule 29(2), the Speaker of the National Assembly has the authority to determine the order of business during a plenary session. This means that the Speaker can decide whether or not to proceed with the meeting, even if some members are absent due to committee meetings.
Additionally, Rule 127(3) states that a committee may hold a meeting while the National Assembly is in session, but any member of the committee who is also a member of the National Assembly is expected to attend the plenary session of the House if required. This implies that attending committee meetings does not exempt members from attending plenary sessions of the National Assembly.
Therefore, while there is no specific rule that permits the National Assembly to proceed with a meeting even if a committee meeting is taking place at the same time, the Speaker has the authority to determine the order of business, and members are still expected to attend plenary sessions even if they also serve on committees.

They should have an educational test in order for someone to be a part of a government body. When you have explained to certain members (EFF) and they cannot even understand what is said over and over again they need to be educated.
