I've heard mauisnake and other talent reference that the playoffs is on the new patch and even the esl video remarking that donk may be nerfed because of the new patch but since when are we changing versions mid tournament? I'm aware cs2 is constantly updating as it's relatively still in it's early days and needs work but I was under the assumption that the standard was that the version the tournament started on wouldn't be changed throughout unless there was extenuating circumstances. I guess the transition to playoffs is a little different but imagine a groups stage where one group plays on one patch and another on a different patch, there could easily be controversy as the patch changes could affect certain teams performances. Lets say one team played in group A and then a patch came out that was used for group B but that original team's playstyle would be benefited by the changes, the team could easily get mad about that, and rightly so imo. I could just be out of the loop but I'm pretty sure this would never happen in cs:go unless the patch only fixed a game-breaking bug and didn't change gameplay in anyway.
To be fair this has happened before. But there is TWO main reasons it happened this time. Before I explain them, please be aware I'm simply the mouthpiece regurgitating their reasons, I'm not stating anything that's personal opinion. 1.) They asked the teams to make a vote, and they all unanimously wanted to play on the newest patch 2.) The rmr is coming up, and these teams left in the playoffs, didnt want to be at a disadvantage from those who already got eliminated from the tournament, due to them having less experience on the new patch than all the other teams. Katowice may be Arguably as prestigious if not even more, than a major. (Due to the level of competition being the same as a major but with a better format) However, the major is the most important tournament by far for the team organizations due to stickers and the financial gain. Plus brand awareness I suppose too. It's definitely the most viewed tournament. It's simply poor timing for a big patch to come out, however not shaming valve as literally the ONLY good timing would be player breaks, which would leave room for a max of 2 updates per year.
This is the worst betting I've seen in a while . I don't understand why is it called competitive edge , there is no edge just amateur gambling here . the risk is going to be 1R = 1000 dollars , my bets would be based on proprietary data , actual edge and sound mathematical odds that I wouldn't reveal for obvious reasons : -Skip the first 4 games . -Eternal Fire vs NIP : 1R on NIP winning with a 2.738 Odds . -Amkal vs Enterprise : 1R on Enterprise winning with a 3.281 Odds. -Team Falcons vs 3DMax : 1R on 3DMax winning with 2.981 Odds . - Skip Fnc vs BB . Also you should make your bets exactly before the game starts as well as looking for websites that give you better odds for your picks .
Statistically I have a 41.2% win-rate with over 800 bets at this point with +57R approximately , although these 3 bets don't mean anything in the big picture but I had 33% win-rate since I lost 2 and still came out profitable , I'll try to be brief on why and what happened : -Eternal Fire vs NIP : it was a loss so -1R (-1000USD) ; Headtrick under-preformed although Ovp is his second most played map and his 3rd best rated one last year . -Amkal vs Enterprise : it was a win so +2.28R (+2280USD) ; Basically 1WIN vs Thunderflash , very close teams but the odds were not well thought through by the bookies , Enterprise were so good at the qualifiers people suspected them for cheating . -Team Falcons vs 3DMAX : it was a loss so -1R(-1000USD) ; This was the lowest probability bet out of the three bets but I had to take it to make this comment interesting as well as Sunpayus under-preforming historically in smaller matches but he showed up . That makes the Total : 2280 - 1000 - 1000 = +280 US dollars . On the other hand "Competitive Edge" clowns : LOST ALL THE BETS : - NIP Lost so : -450 USD - AMKAL Lost so : -200 USD - Falcons Won 13-8 so : -750 USD , although it was a close one , you should never have a side bet this large . - BetBoom Lost so : -750 USD , this was the worst bet , 50/50 game with negative RR and u bet the most on it . So they lost from their monopoly money (since this is a sponsor) : - 2150 US Dollars .
