- I traveled to Paris to go hundreds of feet below to the catacombs. These are miles of unexplored tunnels that's like a maze. We adventure through the many rooms experiencing weird thing until we finally get to the bone rooms.

Remember y'all... there are people who actually live in the catacombs. If you're alone, they WILL take you lights, push you, and possibly rob you as well. So please, if you go, go with someone who knows what they are doing (possibly in a larger group like OP here) or book an actual French tour guide. Please be safe y'all!

I’ll prolly go there in 15 years
this part is referred to as the "commercial part" - all explorers tourists go there, the other parts are better protected, less graffiti or even no graffiti, the entrances in the tunnels to the protected rooms are hidden , planks with sand on top cover the holes to enter those parts. A lot is not documentated and is in fact still properly hidden

They blocked almost all the accesses, but somehow left some inconvenient ones like the one you used, even though they're well known. I'm wondering if they might have left them on purpose so that people wouldn't do something even more stupid to access the catacombs.

Was a fun experience, but the knocking noises was very strange. It wasn't the trains running above either, it was direct knocking. But entire place down there is wild.

Oh there is still plenty to see in the unknowns. There are still believed to be unmapped tunnels, and I plan to go back to find some.

You can use cans of spray paint to mark the wall in the bone room to remember your trail I imagine

My friends uncle went to Paris catacombs and went missing. It is very dangerous place. If you want to visit Paris catacombs you have to be prepared for ANYTHING.

I’d have to imagine that thousands or at least hundreds of ppl prolly died down here simply from getting lost from having no maps and lights and just going to deep for fun on day getting most and not being able to find their way out in the haunted tight flooded dark dirty huge miles on tunnel I’d honestly give up at a certain point bc when u think abt it it’s scary bc it’s impossible to find ur way out the way it’s set up and at first when it started getting abandoned a lot of ppl prolly got lost and went in without much light knowing what they were getting themselves into

It was done in one go; they emptied all the overfilled cemeteries in Paris in the late 18th century and put all the bones in what became known as the catacombs after that. They didn't dig the tunnels for that purpose, they already existed.The passages are a mix of various things, but for the most part, before that they were subterranean limestone quarries (none of them seem to appear in the video) and the passageways going to them.

No. In fact, in Paris cemeteries, bones were already unearthed after a while to make room for newly deceased people and piled up in ossuaries situated within the cemetery. So, they basically just moved the piles of bones from one place to another. It took years to move all the remains from the four previous cemeteries to the catacombes, with a convoy every night, and I assume that they moved the most recently buried people last, so that they'd have time to decompose (although I wouldn't know for sure). The cemeteries had been closed, and new ones created outside the urbanized area, and that's where people were then buried, not in the catacombes.They just emptied the old ones. @@billysaunders544
@@billysaunders544both, the cemeteries where getting overfilled with rotten corpses which caused the entire city to smells like death. So they took some old mine networks and expanded them and then they carried all the dead there.
