4:27 I found it amusing when you were saying that you thought the right of passage was in the Enter the Kettle book, as I can see that if you raised your right hand up high and started turning to your right toward the bookshelf, your hand would probably hit that book! (I have ETK and recognize the black spine with white letters just to the left of the yellow-on-red Power by Pavel). I love these videos. It always relieving to have something very productive distilled down to its bare nuts and bolts!
Thanks for noticing that. I tried to group my books together in a logical way, but then I’ll pull one down and forget where to put it. I don’t know. I think my brain is getting away from my library skills.
I find myself stopped watching this channel, recently doesn’t come out to my feed as often. Now I realized that clips are gone, please bring it back, it’s good for RUclips too
Hello, Dan. I am currently following the rite of passage with a 32kg bell for presses (clean before each rep) and 2H swings. I'm also doing the pull ups, but am only using an extra 25lbs on those. It's difficult to progress each heavy day, but I'm not burnt out yet. I'm hoping to press 48kg sometime next year. I'm glad you posted this video because it makes a lot of sense
@@barrylarryharry7183Thank you for asking. I ran the ROP program a couple of times and even did a Mark Wildman-style reverse ladder program with the 24 and 32. With the ROP, I never did make it to 5 ladders up to 5 reps with the 32. Eventually, I got tired of doing only 2 exercises for over an hour while making no progress, so in January of 2024, I started FitnessFAQs' Hybrid program. I like the variety and am finally enjoying my training again.
it just doesn't get any better, love listening to the great Dan John! thank you sir! One question on the 2-3-5, how long do you rest in between each movement? you do 2, then take a few secs and go? as one set is 10 reps? cheers!

Mr. John has previously expressed some well-reasoned criticism of Mr. Rogan. That said, I think it would be a very insightful discussion if the two did meet.
@@mrgame97 on both his and Pat Flynn’s podcast. Rogan tends to delve into conspiracy theories and gives a platform to those promoting them. It’s an aspect of the show that I don’t like. Nevertheless, I think Rogan does have intelligent conversations with prominent thinkers of the day, of which I think Dan John is one. More people need to hear Dan John’s voice and Rogan’s is a great platform to reach the masses. So I, like many of Mr. John’s subscribers who have greatly benefited from his advice, would encourage the two to meet.
The other question is why does one want to press a 48kg kb, instead of a dumbbell? There is some stress on the forearm extensors that comes with resting the heavier weight against those muscles. I have pressed the 48kg, and because I was training grip, I noticed that dumbbells were a better option to maintain my grip lifts. I switched from kbs, and went to dbs. Ended up progressing to a +120# max one arm db press.
Hi Dan - it’s interesting that you’ve had to squat 5x per week to increase your squat when you’ve also said that you’ve been unable to make squats work within easy strength. How does your programming differ when implementing high frequency squats?
These are different programs. I've been lifting since 1965 and I have tried just about everything. This week, I squat MWF and it's a O lift prep program.
Recap
Day1: double kb clean and press
(Ladders of 2-3-5) x 2-5
Dan also mentions ladders of 2-3-5-10
Day2: single kb clean and press
Ladders same as day1
Day3: single kb clean and press
Increase weight until you fail
Push press or use assistance from the other hand then use a slow negative (2-3 reps per arm)
Thanks
Well, thank you so very much!

We are working on making them better. We'll have more again soon.

How's it going now my dude, have you progressed to where you'd like to be at?

There’s an old(er) strong first program , “tuba and solja “ (sp?) I used to get to the 48 the first time. Let it slip away, working my way back up .
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this! Any shot we can get your 48kg Pull Up take next?
Please send this to the Podcast

Thanks so much for this video! Currently training for SFGII and I have a ways to go to get to the 48kg press...at 36kg right now.
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks!
Great to hear from you!
Very good. It's similar to Martones philosophy. I still use Kettlebell RX.
Most of us line up on the same philosophies....
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach Roger that.
Would be curious to hear from Dave & if he both follwed this & achieved pressing the beast!
People don't often follow up here...so I don't know, sorry
Do you use the same weight for the 2-3-5 ladder, or a heavier weight for the low rep sets?
Pardon my ignorance, but when you say ‘press’, do you mean strict press or push press? Thanks.
This would be strict, yes.

I have no idea about that second question, but the 48 kilo KB is called the "Beast" and people want to press it. Let's hope your pressing improves.

Dan,if i built up to 5*(1,2,3,4,5) pull ups what would be my rep max?
I have no idea; it's something you should test.
I am not interested in pressing the 48 kg KB. I want to press the 50 kg KB.
Okay
