I wish more people would understand the level of immersion you reach when playing without the hud. All your points are totally valid and i couldn't agree more. 70 hours into my no-hud playthrough atm. Unfortunately people these days lack the patience or willpower and want their hands to be hold by the developer. This in turn doesn't make developers aware of how much more potential there is when a game is played without a HUD, suddenly everything becomes not only prettier, but also more meaningful, more surprising, more immersive and allows for an overall more natural experience.
Don't know if you will see this. But finally someone gets it. 😁. To up the immersion i installed long journey mod it disables fast travel yeah a bit more hardcore. But I enjoy it. The world feels so real.
@@panielbaxla6035 glad im not alone in this :) personally dont have the long journey mod installed but i also never fast travel. And exclusively walk to my destinations unless story-wise it makes sense to make haste. Really makes you appreciated the game world and immerses you in it.
I started my very first playthrough with no hud for the immersion reasons and additional challenge and I would never play it any other way. I feels like you're really exploring the world instead of just following marks.
I’ve played the game a few times, mostly vanilla. Didn’t push myself to change the experience too much other than some mods. I’m only 5 hours in to this newest play through. Death March (first time) and zero hud features. Have to research and check everything in the menu systems (I.E vitality level, any buffs etc). It’s incredible. It’s like your senses get woken up. You notice everything. I couldn’t believe how powerful and useful Witcher sense was, because it heightens your hearing and focus even more. This, opposed to vanilla gameplay where you just use it to highlight stuff. Hard to imagine wanting all the clutter back on screen. Not sure if my play-through will evolve, but right now it feels like it will be an engaging 200hrs. The exploring potential is endless. Take care on the road, fellow Witchers.
Yes, this is a great idea. I also play not using fast travel and try to use the map minimally. This might seem like a tedious waste of time to some, but it encourages planning ahead, makes the game feel a lot more like a journey and an adventure as well as makes you appreciate the world and actually learn the map. It feels so good to get lost and stumble upon interesting places by accident. Lots of questionmarks are left unexplored and sidequests are missed but honestly, the game gets better for it. Nothing sucks the magic out of an open world game quite like that compulsive "map cleanup" that most of us fall into so easily.
I play first-person, no hud, no gps, no lock, no slow mo, no fast travel, and no Roach, on death march...and I absolutely love it. I've played that way in every game since Morrowind. Elden Ring is great that way too. There's a mod on Nexus that makes you limp when your health is low. It's perfect for no HUD playthroughs.
I love playing without the hud, but man there are some missions and side quests that are nearly impossible 😢 I had a monster contract and had to lay some bait but only in very specific and seemingly random points. Not impossible, but insanely time consuming. But most of the time its worth it
I did this back in 2015 late fall when I finally built a PC that could run AAA games. Did it on Death March blind with no hud and some difficulty mods. Extremely fun and only halfway through did I figure out and master blocking into a riposte/counterattack. Fun times! Now I am back at it again for a 2nd playthrough and will be first time playing through the two expansions of B&W and HoS. Appreciate the video and agree 100% !!

I finished the game twice but i still never remember a single NPC location, now i would like to try your method.

yo are u playing march of death difficulty?
You heard someone screaming in panic and you didn't run to the screams to find out what's going on? What sort of witcher are you?
Agree, with Ghost of Tsushima you must play with no hud and on hardest difficulty first playthrough. Amazing experience, hoping the same with W3.

What mods are you usin?
Try playing with no hud and no music and it makes getting ambushed so intense and scary
Love this idea. Thank you for the video :)
I have a Job 😭
