Last season murphys law was in effect for vancouver.. All the D injuries, Demko getting hurt, the horvat contract trade saga, the disconnect between GM, president and Boudreau etc.. yet and still we finished above 500 with ahl goalies and ahl defencemen for over half our games. Fast forward to now and we have the coach sorted, got a tidy return for horvat, plugged in some better bottom 6 depth and penalty killing, 3 new actually serviceable nhl defenseman, and surprise surprise we look like a good hockey club. Noteworthy as well is the gap management between Ds and Forwards, how we are closing out the front of the net, and we actually look structured in how we are positioning ourselves on defence. This lead to many counter attacking chances in this game, as well as several power plays. As always we will have the worst schedule in the nhl later on in the season, with illogical 7 or 8 game road trips spanning 15k miles or some such nonsense, its imperative that we get point on the board early and often, in what is easily the deepest division in the NHL. Lets stay positive...
