I run Invisible Hand with Headseeker: Pre-firing down lanes & doorways, having that extra stability (& the intrinsic perk) feels great. I'll spawn, shoot couple shots & instantly have lazer stability.
Moving Target Headseeker all day. Plus, the origin trait is very nice; it forces me to manage my abilities better and also not be afraid to spend the resources because I know I have an S-tier weapon once Unsated Hunger is proc'd.
Indeed, it pushes me to get out of the bad habits of holding onto ability charges too often. This benefited me greatly when Tlaloc was available to me in D1 but doing that is more to my detriment these days.
I’ve been using this one on my lock threadling build and it’s perk is always up since with this build you basically use everything when it’s up. Works great!
@@rentedmule169 Yup, needs a PvP radius nerf to its chaining at least, or not make it an insta kill to those chained. Leave em 1hp or something that a nade or teammates push can clean up. Nothing sucks more than having a teammate rez you and you're used as the target to kill the both of you, or a random teammate apeing around a corner you were holding getting domed and you die because they somehow thought that was going to work. Idk, such a bs mechanic to a weapon (snipers in general) that people know is already too safe, away from radar, and high reward. Could be toned down.
@redsoxfan169 I think the only issue with clouds trike is that you can get a double kill off of a revive, otherwise, it is a good counter to the hand holding ape meta.
God, I love your weapon reviews. I used to not give a care, but that was when I was playing 4-6 hrs per day (8-12 on weekends). Ever since I started working like a maniac, I couldn't game like one anymore and I started really appreciating these reviews. It all makes perfect sense and is sound logic. Love it bro. I really hope some day you start doing crucible vids again. I honestly appreciated your map reviews. They were top notch for sure, just like all the pvp training vids you did. Super chill. Super awesome.
I must emphasize that these taken weapons on a void Hunter work SO WELL. That origin trait when you’re constantly trying to go invisible is beautiful as it’s almost always on and if it’s not I’m getting volatile rounds with Gyrfalcon’s. Both in pvp and PVE that origin train is a godsend
The problem Im having with the strand weapons is that Hatchling is so good for PvE that its hard to justify any other perk in the slot it rolls in, making them all feel very samey.
Too good for warlocks maybe. Not great on hunter or titan. Multikill and especially tricorn in a discipline build can be good too, the DMG is even higher.
I don't see the hype around hatchling because I don't use a hatchling build. I'd rather golden tricorn, target lock, any other damage perk on my strand weapons. Maybe if I were on Warlock using a threadling build I'd use hatchling, but I don't even use threadlings on my warlock. I use suspend with Necrotic Grip and Osteo Striga
Really? I kinda see it as a meme. Hatchling is really oy good with The Swarmers. Even then, in higher tier content hatchlings are mostly useless. I think it's honestly one of the worst of the subclass specific weapon perks.
@@Burger_Nunits basically free kill clip damage on your next target before you even shoot it. As for endgame, how many strand primaries are meta using ANY roll? That slot is usually reserved for Witherhoard, Deliverance, Conditional, or Izi anyway.
I really like this pulse rifle in PVP. I’m still working on crafting it. My roll is moving target and hatchling. Hatchling works really good on this weapon.
Thank you for not being one of those tubers. "Everything sucks, this game got too easy, why would we need new weapons. War wah😢" this was perfectly informational, and entertaining. I have only been playing d2 this year, and it am always looking for videos like this one. Again, thank you.
Kinda bummed you didnt try out the new stability perk for this review. Feels like that perk is made for Pulse Rifles. Haven't toyed with it yet but if it only requires say, two-three bullet misses, I think you'd get a lot more use of of that perk than you think. Could end up having really strong "win now" synergy with headseeker. I'm imagining pre firing the thing a lot and it being an absolute laser beam, along with its origin trait. Feel like I'd want to enhance both perks to get the most out of it though and thats a heavy investment.
I crafted Arrowhead/ricochet/moving target/head seeker. It’s synergy with strand was what I was after. My build includes 6th coyote and the new strand aspect. Depending on the map I’ll switch between an arc sniper or shotgun. I’m having a great time with it, and it duels well. The biggest drawback is that I have to be careful about not trying to engage at scout and 340 pulse ranges. As long as I’m mindful, this thing shreds.
10/10 video. Was a huge Outlast fan so decided to give this a try, even though on paper it wasn't the best. Crafted it first, now can't put it down. Originally crafted the roll you're using but swapped to Corkscrew/Richohet/Enhanced MT/Enhanced HS/Range MW, felt the recoil was definitely manageable without Arrowhead, and was missing just the little bit of extra range in certain fights, also playing on Shadelock the Origin Trait is amazing.
Thank you! This model. The fact that it's just reckoning weapons moved to a different slot. And that it takes the OG ornaments. Plus it's taken theme. Yeah. The origin trait is murky. But it's like love or hate it. Cause that's what destiny does best.
@DJ Legacy (Sanity Lost Studio) It's less of a problem of holding onto my abilities, but more of a problem of always getting my abilities back if I'm performing well.
If I could make a recommendation; knowing what to craft early in a season is great for enjoying your time in that season. However, I'd find it more helpful to have non-crafted weapon reviews earlier than crafted. With a crafted gun, I know I'll eventually get my god-roll. With a non-crafted luck, I'm terrified I'm going to shard the recommended roll because I just didn't think to keep something. So with that in mind, just a thought that maybe the Outlast review would be more helpful early. Having said that, yours are easily some of my favorite reviews of guns in Destiny. So much thought in them and I appreciate the hell outta that.
I never listen to peoples recommendations for perks and weapon choices. I test and know what's best for me and my builds. I dont know why some people rely on other people to choose for them.
Please try as titan on stasis build. Absolutely nutty. Here's my build and it was doninating in trails for me. Stability master / hammer fordeged / ricochet rounds / enhanced moving target / enhanced collective action. Was an absolute tank!!
I love headseeker on my blast Furnace, 2 to the body 2 crits, 2nd burst usually domes enemies in crucible, and with that things range you can duel snipers and come out on top because of the massive flinch your inflicting on snipers. Hoping black armory guns come back with refreshed perk pools (and craftable) maybe next season.
I haven’t spent money on Destiny in years. I don’t even have the Beyond Light expansion. But as I keep watching CoolGuy’s videos, I’m getting closer and closer to buying the expansions again. He makes me want to play the game again and grind for these weapons.
I absolutely love this gun. It feels great. I’m running it with my Arc build because the iconic traces are constant so Collective Action is always up. My craft is Collective Action Heating Up, Flared Magwell and Arrowhead Break. Master work is range. This is what feel great to me so far for PVE.
I was excited for this gun when I first saw it but then I remembered I have my time worn spire with Hitmark IS, High Cal, Moving target, Iron Grip, and a range masterwork. Thing can MAP at rantes enemies literally feel safe in because they know I'm using a 540. 1100+ PvP kills on that thing out of nowhere.
“Pulses are always in the artifact” 8:51 -CoolGuy on the one season they are not. This seasons champ artifact mods are probably my least favorite to date. Luckily the rest of the seasons content makes up for it by being great.
As soon as I saw the roll you went for, I knew I was onto something. I crafted this *exact* same roll a week ago and I've honestly loved it, and I'm rather hard to please when it comes to Rapid-Fire pulses. As a more aggressive player, this feels hilariously strong when I'm down a couple of abilities and Heating Up kicks in. 🤣
I've not got the patterns to craft yet but I've been quite lucky with a couple good Headseeker Rolls. My issue isn't the Strand "Beam" it's actually the Taken effects! Love the aesthetic but actually using the weapons I find it distracting. It MIGHT be to do with the form of seizures I have, it's not quite enough to trigger one but enough to cause a headache/distraction of sorts. Bummer as there's some beasty weapons on the Taken list!
Honestly, I saw this gun, saw its perk pool.. and, honestly. I knew I'd love it immediately. Enhanced moving target + Enhanced headseeker. That right there, that is why I'm interested. That's why I want it. On a rapidfire frame? yeah. Especially with high-cal. And a kinetic slot rapidfire frame, and it's a taken weapon. Full craftable. The only thing I could really ask for is to replace either headseeker or moving target with Kill Clip (shout-out to the headseeker + kill clip 540 pulse that got sunset from iron banner, Claws of the Wolf). That on a 540 pulse? nasty. Also, I'm looking forwards to getting my godroll Outlast too. I'm looking for Keep Away + Kill Clip, rather than rangefinder, not just to push past the rangefinder nerf, but because of the accuracy without the zoom increase that I find uncomfortable.
I crafted mine with Enhanced Subsistence and Hatchling. With subsistence, so long I'm killing shit I reload less. And Hatchling is just for the fun watching green stuff flying all over the place. And with a recoil of 97 the gun is just satisfying and fun.
Good thoughtful review as always. Would appreciate your thoughts on the reissued Randy’s. Can’t quite decide what feels like the best setup on that one.
Wait WHAT!? All this time, I thought you needed a grenade kill to get Golden Tricorn to proc. So I avoided it on Strand & Stasis weapons bc it's more difficult to get kills with those grenades/melees (on Warlock, my main). I had no idea that suspending worked!! Thank you so much for this info!
I'm hoping that you review the updated positive outlook, destabilizing rounds on that frame feels great for PVE. Huge perk pool, tough getting what you want but the drop rate isn't horrible in the strike playlist.
I would actually farm for this weapon, but every time I load up the strikes playlist I get nothing but freaking battle grounds which I absolutely hate playing.
The reason the suspend will proc golden tricorn is because the suspending waves do a small amount of damage that will count as a grenade if it kills something. It will definitely get harder to proc in higher-end content.
Any chance we can get a crafted weapons tier list? Like A Tier: worth crafting both PvP and PvE rolls, B Tier: worth enhancing perks, C Tier: worth a niche roll and F Tier: not worth it or something along those lines
My first drop was Outlaw/Tricorn. Can 100% confirm it's super nasty. Been using mine in pvp, though. Really love the reload help on the weapon, and the damage catches a lot of people by surprise. Unfortunately, though, mine dropped with Extended as best available, so I REALLY feel that 8 handling. I'm still trying to draw it while I type this message.
For the invisible hand trait, couldnt you just put like 2 or 3 burst into a wall before an engagement and come in with a huge stability bump? It is a rapid fire which means bigger mag by default Also recently got an outlast with ricochet rounds, encore, and kill clip. Thing is a beast!
The accuracy cone doesn't move on PC. So, I might try moving target / headseeker. The again, I already have the killing wind / headseeker roll for Autumn Wind.
Dont forget the clear scope of autumnwind! +1 Autumnwind. +1 for undeniable for the takenstyle. Got many good and godrolls on autumnwind and i live in but... dont know why, but the taken pulse feels better somehow.
Even though this and autumn wind are in the same slot, just having access to the "Strand Authorized Mods" Artifact perk this season makes it way better than autumn wind IMO. Really lets you build out a fuller kit, even in PvP.
I love the strand VFX for weapons but totally agree that the visual is disorientating in PVP. You miss headshots when you shouldn't because you lose your target's head in all the competing colours/lights.
The thing that turns me away from autumn wind and turns me toward this pulse and piece of mind is the aim sight. I HATE autumn winds scope, I can’t stand it, along with the sound it makes. I love piece of mind but I’ve been using NTTE in crucible more than any other pulse, but I think this one will be fun in more laid back 6v6s where you don’t have to be on your A game 24/7 Also I would rather craft a weapon based solely on the fact that I can put silly trials shader and make it a Mac and cheese gun :)
Ya i started this thing and the recoil was rough. Once i unlocked moving target and got the recoil down i started getting 30 kills a game with it. I dont think many ppl will have the patients to max it out and materials to waste enhancing this so i feel like this is a weapon few will use. Ill keep using it through.
Haven’t been able to get the 120 fully crafted yet to take advantage of the 2-taps. Missed the adagio roll on the new arc 120 too. No 2-taps outside of sturm
Was thinking about crafting one until a Perp. Motion/Adrenaline Junkie Autumn Wind fell on my lap... plus I have a Piece of Mind with the same perks roll... but like you said, this might be a good Pulse Rifle for PvE...
I haven't gotten enough red borders to craft but my lone random roll is good enough for me. Arrowhead, HC Rds, moving target, headseeker, and handling MW. I would've preferred ricochet rds, but whatever. I didn't really enjoy this gun as much as I thought I would. Maybe it's the shooting animation that you mentioned, or maybe it was the poor connections I was dealing with when I tried to use it. It just felt bad. I'll probably give it another try but I'd rather use something like Piece of Mind. That gun feels like a lazer even without headseeker.
See what you’re saying but if on void Hunter build as shown by grenaider jake with the addition the trails void sub, with the perk harmony. Collective obligation perk just insta kills everything on the pulse. Just need more stability to make it more consistent. Cheers for showing how. Prob build 2 yours and mine
i love it, but i have yet to build mine... so i can only imagine a built one. as for that said 120 handcannon. might i suggest it with explosive payload, on a warlock with empowering rift and sanguine alchemy. it two taps all but 10 resilience. add to that devour... and well you can make people rage.
So i know your not vibing with invisible hand given its description (trust me i wasnt either) but i landed an invisible hand/headseeker roll and that bump it gives to stability is actually insane, like you visual see a huge difference. Its also not that hard to proc invisible hand as you can prime it outside of a gun fight early and the effect lasts for a little bit. If you can, do me a favor and give this perk a try with headseeker because no one else is lol
Great review as always. I happened upon a drop with moving target + headseeker with high cal, arrowhead, and a range mw. I'm not sure if I'm going to craft it because of all the correct points you made about Autumn Wind. But I did use it in comp on the way to Adept and it felt fairly competitive. Good weapon.
I simply will not use a weapon with poor handling right now. Apparently there’s some debate about whether mods are broken or not, but it feels night and day to me. If it takes me an eternity to swap to/from a weapon and I can’t correct it with dex mods because they aren’t working, it’s unusable for me.
So this doesn't have to do with this weapon, but instead an earlier video, has anyone else noticed that the Necrotic Grips + strand melee add clear machine build is significantly less effective this season?
Is it just me or did they tone down the Taken flame a bit from when they first launched? I mean this as a good thing. I'm not quite sure what it was, but when the season started I felt like the flame was crowding the HUD up and making it feel claustrophobic to have the weapon out, but I tried it again at the end of the season and I love the thing.
Looks like Moving Target and Headseeker might be the PvP god roll. Heating Up requires to get a kill for a star boost whereas Moving Target is free aim assist and strafe speed
Has Bungie put new people on weapon development? They've always been so so good at making weapons feel/function amazing, but this is the 2nd review in a short time (shayura's reticle) that talk about some feel aspects to new weapon or changes that has me questioning if they have a less experienced team doing these things right now.
remember, for all of these taken weapons, if you don't like the taken effects on the scope, these weapons are compatible with their reckoning weapon counterpart's ornaments, which change the weapon to be those ornaments with a taken shimmer. The tracer round’s actually helps me stay on target a lot and I like it.
For the invisible hand trait, couldnt you just put like 2 or 3 burst into a wall before an engagement and come in with a huge stability bump? It is a rapid fire which means bigger mag by default
Also recently got an outlast with ricochet rounds, encore, and kill clip. Thing is a beast!
The stability on it is very manageable and I’d rather take moving target or heating up over invisible hand
@@sweep_swoop ok just curious i have never dealt with invisible hand before
The accuracy cone doesn't move on PC. So, I might try moving target / headseeker. The again, I already have the killing wind / headseeker roll for Autumn Wind.
Thanks for gettin nerdy with it buddy
Dont forget the clear scope of autumnwind! +1 Autumnwind. +1 for undeniable for the takenstyle. Got many good and godrolls on autumnwind and i live in but... dont know why, but the taken pulse feels better somehow.
Even though this and autumn wind are in the same slot, just having access to the "Strand Authorized Mods" Artifact perk this season makes it way better than autumn wind IMO. Really lets you build out a fuller kit, even in PvP.
I had a head seeker outlaw drop at the start of the season and it feels better than any rapid pulse i have. Need 1 more red for the pattern .
You need to check out a distant pull with keep away and opening shot, its such a good sniper.
I love the strand VFX for weapons but totally agree that the visual is disorientating in PVP. You miss headshots when you shouldn't because you lose your target's head in all the competing colours/lights.
It's for sure gonna replace piece of mind and autumn wind on strand builds
soon as it dropped i tried it in crucible. expected to hate it, but LOVE it. just crafted one. cant wait to get it maxed out
The thing that turns me away from autumn wind and turns me toward this pulse and piece of mind is the aim sight.
I HATE autumn winds scope, I can’t stand it, along with the sound it makes.
I love piece of mind but I’ve been using NTTE in crucible more than any other pulse, but I think this one will be fun in more laid back 6v6s where you don’t have to be on your A game 24/7
Also I would rather craft a weapon based solely on the fact that I can put silly trials shader and make it a Mac and cheese gun :)
Got shredded by a headseeker roll in first week trials. Seems like a monster on close-mid maps
Cascade point not collective sorry
It took me one game in Iron banner to become a believer of this gun.
i love it, but i have yet to build mine... so i can only imagine a built one. as for that said 120 handcannon. might i suggest it with explosive payload, on a warlock with empowering rift and sanguine alchemy. it two taps all but 10 resilience. add to that devour... and well you can make people rage.
How does it compare to a crafted Piece of Mind? Mine is Perpetual Motion and Elemental Capacitor with a void build.
I can’t tell what’s better the taken version of outlast or regular same thing with spare rations
Awesome review! (side note, thoughts on off hand strike? that perk as been a CQC game changer for me, still waiting for it to show up on a bow!)
3:01 I have this exact roll on the autumn wind and it was my favorite drop for it, guess I'll be crafting my different times for pve :/
You should try battle scar, g one with moving target head seeker, its pretty crispy.
Why do you have a normal hip fire icon for your lightweight shotgun?
I just want a strand aggressive frame pulse or sidearm, that or a strand lightweight smg.
So I'm not the only one who has been distracted by the strand bullet tracer
I simply will not use a weapon with poor handling right now. Apparently there’s some debate about whether mods are broken or not, but it feels night and day to me. If it takes me an eternity to swap to/from a weapon and I can’t correct it with dex mods because they aren’t working, it’s unusable for me.
collective action is gonna be 10% in pvp after the next update
What masterwork did you use?
Small correction; not a three headed dragon, but King Ghidorah, Godzillas best villain
What masterwork you recommend? Thnx
So this doesn't have to do with this weapon, but instead an earlier video, has anyone else noticed that the Necrotic Grips + strand melee add clear machine build is significantly less effective this season?
The reason i really hate using drang is because of how much of a flashbang it is to shoot because of the muzzle flash
this has become one of my favorite pvpv weapons in season 23.
Feels like Clever Dragon in D1
I love my pve subsistence golden tricorn role with max range ❤
Is it just me or did they tone down the Taken flame a bit from when they first launched? I mean this as a good thing. I'm not quite sure what it was, but when the season started I felt like the flame was crowding the HUD up and making it feel claustrophobic to have the weapon out, but I tried it again at the end of the season and I love the thing.
Almost exact roll your pvp roll is to the one im keeping
Chattering bone also has headseeker
Excelent, review.
It tends to kick like a Clydesdale wich can kill you fast
You won't find many weapons with worse muzzle flash than Stay Frosty.
I've been USING this gun and wondering why everyone was crapping on it. Like lemme wait for a Cool Guy video on it hah because this thing feels GOOD.
Looks like Moving Target and Headseeker might be the PvP god roll. Heating Up requires to get a kill for a star boost whereas Moving Target is free aim assist and strafe speed
Unsated hunger should activate like surplus but simply in reverse
What do weapons matter if you can't log in?
Has Bungie put new people on weapon development?
They've always been so so good at making weapons feel/function amazing, but this is the 2nd review in a short time (shayura's reticle) that talk about some feel aspects to new weapon or changes that has me questioning if they have a less experienced team doing these things right now.
