On the love list: Obama #3, Bernie #2 and of course Michelle was number 1. She was also, I believe, the only non-politician on the list.
my advice - 1. Go to office hours, they're usually very helpful to fill in the blanks (and a good way to get a letter of recommendation later) but be prepared, ask legit questions, not suck up questions or basic questions you should know the answer to if you just payed attention. 2. Don't be afraid to drop a course early on if it doesn't feel like a right fit 3. Take the course with the professor that teaches the best (regardless if they're a tough grader). The easy grader may get you an A but you'll learn nothing. 3. Study in your own room, especially around midterms, the libraries are awful - full of large study groups that seem to make more noise than study 4. Make a schedule for your day/week and stick to it (when to study, do laundry, etc), plan out your month ahead of time too. This helps if you have a part time job as well as go to school. 5. If you want to do research in a lab for next year or the summer, start cold emailing professors now. 6. Don't worry if you screw up once in a while, everyone does, just take a breath and talk to someone. 7. Find a way to decompress - listen to music, etc. Also keep something fun in mind to look forward to at the end of the semester (like a new movie coming out) 8. Don't worry about what anyone else is doing. If it takes everything you have to just keep your grades decent, don't worry about partying, just keep working.........after college, everyone goes their own separate ways (friends, girlfriends, etc) you better make sure you did the best you could have done. Otherwise you'll regret it. The person who got A's and partied - good for them, if you partied with them and got a mediocre GPA - oh well, they're going to grad school and you'll be stuck. Do what is best for you and your ability.

Now it's only a matter of planning and timing your crash landing, personally I prefer it to happen an hour or so before I _actually_ wanted to go to bed, this helps me go to bed earlier, giving me a superior circadian rhythm.
